That's why we have checkpoints in the season to determine how well they're doing. For example:

Oct 31st

American Thanksgivings

End of the calendar year

Personally, if they're .500 by Oct 31st, then I'm not panicking as they're essentially a new team and need time to gel but it's obviously not ideal. If that continues into the next checkpoint, then it's not looking good. The end of the calendar year would probably signal the end of the season as far as playoffs if they maintain only a .500 record imo.

That being said, I don't believe that will happen; I'm optimistic enough to think they will make it. These checkpoints are a great way to approach this season from a level headed POV (not saying you aren't btw)

Agree with this take on checkpoints. Also when you look at their schedule by the end of October they will finish off the 2nd of the 3 big Western road trips. Even if they are a couple pts out of a wild card I wouldn't panic either. I think time on the road earlier in the season will benefit this team immensely.

Yeah good analysis on that too. The bonding of the road trips is a great chance to pull the guys together. If they come out flat after that, then it's gonna be rough. But given that they didn't have this road trip last year until later in the season, I think the schedule change is very much welcome. Especially since the group is fairly new.

As sundin said, these guys gotta play for each other like it's a brotherhood. That's the type of bond that can strap a rocket to this team where the sky's the limit
