ESPN: Luka bullying teammates. Is there trouble in Laker Land?

Lukaball will not win Championship Games (c) Nico, JKidd and Patrick 🤬🤬🤬 PS Hate those guys.

u/yellouder Kobe Bryant 08/24 7h ago

🖕 ESPN

Hahahah.. I just love that the whole team is young and everyone is talking shit 👌

This part of the clip is underrated af. Luka goes up right handed and switches to his inside hand with a defender on his hip to finish with a lefty scoop.

He is like one of the most skilled players in entire NBA history. Dude has regularly so many insane shots and at the same time majority of his shots are just tough yet he bury them like its nothing.

Vibes Immaculate

Thybulle making a 3 is a big win

u/Pristine_Hurry_4693 Los Angeles Lakers 12h ago

He’s a better shooter than his perception, and the looks he’ll get will only help prove it

16

u/Victusrex 12h ago

He's good as a catch and shoot guy

That is all we actually need with Luka on the court. Good to put some pressure on Grimes to be assertive.

I grew up a big fan of Magic and then Kobe. What I love about Luka is that he brings me memories of both players.

White Magic Mamba

Sounds like a weird variation of the song "Black Magic Woman."

u/XerxesCrofter 10h ago

Peter Green!

u/LudwigNasche 9h ago

"We got a white magic mamba

Got us so blind we can't see

That he's a Kobe and Magic disciple

He's surely bringing us another title ..."

I can play some guitar to make it work :-)

u/scooterln 12h ago

The score towards the end of the clip said 21-8 😭

16

u/nottherealstanlee 11h ago

QG, Mamu, Kyle, Bronny, and Jake against Luka, Carr, Thybulle, Zaire, Looney, and Manon? Yeah I mean lol I wouldn't be surprised by that score.

5

u/scooterln 9h ago

Well earlier in the clip the score was higher. So they played multiple rounds and it wasn’t as big of a difference every time haha

OMG, you are right

Man if Adou and Carr pan out, imagine the next couple years, both of them flying around the court catching lobs with Kessler, Carr off ball shooting while Luka and Austin do what they do. It would be the perfect mix of athleticism, defense (Carr has to improve here though), offense, spacing that the Mavs were trying to tinker with in 2024 and 2025, and the best kind of roster for Luka

u/icedxylophone Luka Magic 77 12h ago

I've been so fucking hyped about Luka testing Carr, and that Carr is working very hard to gain basketball knowledge! Then you have Adou taking big leaps forward figuratively and literally!

There are so many aspects of this team I like a lot, and though there will be a lot of haters this szn, I'm so happy about getting to watch them figure shit out and play again!

6

u/Kindly_Ad995 10h ago

I hope it’s a good sign. He’s talked about how the connection with rookie Lively fit like a glove off rip in camp/very early

6

u/XerxesCrofter 10h ago

This has the potential to be a very fun, engaging team.

I much prefer watching less-well-known guys develop--individually and collectively--to watching a bunch of ring-chasing hired guns take turns playing hero ball.

9

u/LudwigNasche 11h ago

Man if Adou and Carr pan out

That would put us in contention

You and I were having a convo the other day about who should be the 5th starter, and youre not sold on Ziaire. In the clip from this post, and the scrimmage footage from Slovenia, both times Ziaire is finishing out of the dunker's spot with ease from a collapsed defense at the end of the footage.

I think Ziaire's feel for slashing/diving and ability to actually hit 3s at a good clip (if uncontested), is why I think he fits in the best. Even if Jake or Thybulle are hitting their shots, neither one has above the rim ability which is necessary in a Luka system to counter certain defensive coverages. Ziaire's length/athleticism allows him to finish those lobs easy. The only other guy that could do that at the wing is Adou, which i would be down for except for the fact that he has very little experience and we have no idea how reliable he will be from 3.

If we get their ceilings (2 3 and D type players) then we are set well in the future with a kessler 5 holding it down

22

u/Damn5o 2 12h ago

Luka is so good man how does he even make these passes lol

25

u/goatnxtinline I Hate it here 💜💛 12h ago

Of all the clips I've seen of the practices I don't think I've ever seen it busier. Trainers, media and people from the front office watching. There's a noticeable buzz going on in that gym surrounding this team.

u/SpiritFantastic4835 12h ago

Finally a clean vid from the lakers

5

u/scooterln 12h ago

Why do they keep putting weird blurred out effects on the other vids. It’s annoying lol

14

u/Particular-Bridge608 12h ago

man basketball is back. cant wait for the season

23

u/Positive_Mobile7638 12h ago

if jake find his 3 point shooting then he will be a great piece for our team

7

u/reddit_reader_25 11h ago

Even if he loses it at one point that is why you get Williams and thybulle. One of them needs to be on the court, and hopefully one of them is able to shoot at all times

8

u/LucioVX 10h ago

Look at luka man

6

u/Pristine_Hurry_4693 Los Angeles Lakers 12h ago

Tomorrow can’t come soon enough!

6

u/motorboat_mcgee 9h ago

Cam is definitely getting minutes this season

7

u/coffeescrollling 9h ago edited 59m ago

Luka apparently keeps looking for him in practice. I can’t wait to see them play together.

3

u/retrospects 77 11h ago

People wanting a team scrimmage but I fear these guys would kill each other 😂.

3

u/Dig_Bick_Beau 11h ago

I saw G-Leaguers on the court but not Knecht, yeah...he gone.

6

u/PAMCookingSpray 11h ago

Jake shot was ai

6

u/Happysadgirl7 11h ago

I could watch the first Luka layup for five hours straight

2

u/icedxylophone Luka Magic 77 12h ago

This is awesome!

2

u/denix24 Luka Magic 77 11h ago

That Luka jelly at the beginning was tough

2

u/Ceiling_IsThe_Roof 5h ago

Jake ain’t making a single one of those all season

2

u/jalatka 11h ago

I’ve never seen Jake LaRavia shoot anything off balance, let alone make it.

2

u/LudwigNasche 11h ago

We found out why he couldn't hit anything last season, just like Gary Payton when he joined the Shaq/Kobe team, he is a rhythm shooter not a spot up shooter. If he takes only off balance moving 3s he is going to make 40% of them /s

1

u/Fantastic_Sock5680 6h ago

That hook pass by Luka was beautiful. Love to see Grimes attack the rim. That what he does.

2

u/chowfun420 5h ago

That three to cam Carr 🥂

1

u/Dane_Thomas25 4h ago

Lakers COOOOOKED!!!

1

u/Southern-Minute8815 4h ago

Jake won't make that or anything I'm the regular season or playoffs. Mr. 82 games of bricks

1

u/NoKnowsPose 12h ago

I don't really ever want to see Jake taking that shot. Nice that he made it but that's a terrible shot lmao

11

u/DoreMD 12h ago

The man needs to shoot with confidence. I’ll take him having a few of those and becoming a productive floor spacer at volume over what we got last year.

-2

u/NoKnowsPose 12h ago

Completely disagree. Not square to the basket, falling out of bounds, nah. He's been a terrible 3P shooter when he's wide open.

Look, I hope you are right and he makes me look like an idiot this season for even commenting that it is a terrible shot. But from what we saw of him last season, he should never be shooting that particular shot unless the shot clock is down to 3 or below lol

5

u/fhfbcc 12h ago

Actually those types of threes were probably his most accurate. Not that he should be shooting them that often

-15

u/Gristle__McThornbody 80 12h ago

Nothing can change my mind that Grimes will be better than Reaves this season.

9

u/scooterln 12h ago

Lol. Reaves is significantly better than Grimes to run an offense.

I’ve watched a ton of Grimes. He’s great, but also he at any moment will start throwing the ball into the stands or get tunnel vision. It’s almost like he can’t have the ball for too long or too much or he starts getting crazy with it lol

1

u/retrospects 77 11h ago

Q is at his best when he’s not forced to be the primary ball handler.

1

u/nottherealstanlee 10h ago

I really like QG but his decision making at times is crazy lol

-7

u/Gristle__McThornbody 80 11h ago

Can't convince me.

5

u/LudwigNasche 11h ago

Nothing can change my mind that Grimes will be better than Reaves this season

One game may be enough to change it

6

u/retrospects 77 11h ago

Then stay ignorant I guess. 😂
