NFS shares from Ubuntu to Kodi
I have a bunch of SATA hard drives containing hundreds of movies, music files etc which I hang off an always-on desktop PC running Ubuntu. I use nfs to share these disks from the Ubuntu box and enjoy my media around the house using Kodi as the nfs client on android TV sticks. It is kind of clunky and fragile but has worked great for the last ten years. Now I need to add another disk and have reached the limit of SATA and power connectors on my PC and I feel like the system needs an overhaul, some design rather than evolution. Maybe I should add a PCiE card with more SATA ports, get an additional power supply just for the disks. Maybe I need a hard drive enclosure with multiple drive ports and USB to the PC, but I dont know if I will be able to NFS share it. Maybe I dont need a PC at all to share these drives? Does anyone have a system like this and how did you make it scalable at the server end?

That's not a Kodi issue but a storage issue. Learn how to raid your disks or build a NAS. Also SMB is much easier than NFS 😂

What is your budget?
You will be able to export a USB drive or an array of drives connected usb via NFS, They will need to be formatted as ext4 or xfs (FAT32/EXFAT will not work).
You have a lot of options based on how much money you want to spend, how much protection/data integrity you want (you didn't mention if you are using RAID, JBOD or individual disks currently).
I'd recommend some sort of NAS at this point.
