the most obvious answer would probably be to just reread, it will for sure be much more intentional and critical than your first read. you might catch something you didnt pay much thought on the first read or whatever.
read more fiction, it really helps. when you get a taste on the many flavors of characters and stories out there you have way better understanding compared to before.
dont beat yourself too hard. Shiki is one of the greatest characters in japanese media and is very intricately crafted, its okay to not have her character understood 1:1.
characters are defined by goals vs friction, what does shiki desire and what are the many conflicts she faces in regards to said goal? understanding shiki also means understanding the other characters(mostly antagonists) becuz you will notice they are dark mirrors of ryougi herself and can have comparative value when you put them next to ryougi.
