Twin Cities Corporate and hijab
Is it really me or the world , specially corporate world, treats you differently if you do hijab or niqaab? I recently got into hijab. I don't cover my face but my dressing is modest or eastern and I've faced extremely different treatment.

Honestly seeing the comments... Y'all saying you don't treat us differently doesn't mean other people don't either
I've always felt treated differently and I have been working on and off since like 2018 and felt this in education even before

I knowww. Everybody is great on social media. But in reality, it hits different. Your promotions, your job hunt everything gets extremely difficult.

Yes absolutely!!! And the be presentable comment both in academia and corporate despite being well dressed and everything, is just so... I don't know how to deal with that sometimes

Treatment can be/and is different, but I personally know women doing hijab at very senior posts and flourishing. It's not really a hindrance, can depend a bit on the role though.

I worked at Motive. I despised going to the office because of the looks I'd get. And also , how they make you feel invisible at times.

No it doesn’t happen in corporate unless you’re working in some absolute shithole of a company. Tons of women wear hijab.

There are a few girls working in our company who also cover their face completely and we don't treat those girls differently. So at least in our company it doesn't matter

My cousin is a hijabi and is currently the CFO at a pretty large digital wallet service.
There is a chance it's in your head, though if people get the impression you're very conservative I imagine they wouldn't go out of their way to be friendly - not because of bias but because of the perception that it would not be appreciated/ out of respect for what they perceive your boundaries likely are.

Isn't the whole point of doing hijab to be treated differently? What is the point I'm not getting? People of course think highly of you and try to keep you out of situations you may feel uncomfortable in, isn't that the point?
