You can pay everything in squats over there
bread : 20 squats
coffee : 25 squats
pants : 400 squats
bike : 5000 squats
house : 1 million squats

u/Patient-Oven9996 15h ago
Lowkey in reality it would be worth it lol. Except the house, unless you do like 500 squats per day

u/Enc0de- 14h ago
500 squats a day for roughly 5 years and a half sounds like a bargain ngl. Woold

Sounds like a repetitive strain injury

Does it? 500 squats a day, that's what, 31.25 squats every hour if you do it over 16 hours (8 hours of sleep), I think it's maneagable if you are fit.
One can always stretch it out over 10 years, now you only need to do 15.6 squats each hour.

u/hudnix 14h ago
Where do you think the idea of squatters came from?
4
u/Patient-Oven9996 13h ago
They looked to their right, and realized they could steal the house. So it was named Squatters Rights

1m for house? Give me 25 years.

u/rage4all 14h ago
So you get the House now and then do a certain amount of squats every month until the 1million are done....
Somehiw sounds familiar

But what if pants can only last for 399 squats…?

Used to be only 800k but housing market inflation eroded purchasing power and priced the unathletic out of the market.

u/Flat_Translator8244 6h ago
Say a house is 250k, at 25p per squat that destroys my hourly wage! I'll be very glad to do a million!

Who do they think they're fooling?

What if you’re disabled, AND do the squats? Do you get a free house?? If so I’m moving there immediately lol

u/fermat9990 13h ago
Some became disabled from doing the squats and were immediately allowed to ride for free 🥲

So you’re either 100% healthy and squat-capable, or disabled/elderly. No in-between.

u/shasaferaska 14h ago
If you can't do squats you are disabled. If you lack the ability to bend your legs that is a disability by the literal definition of the word.
1
u/Praxisinsidejob 13h ago
No. I have terribly bad knees but it’s not a registered disability.
•
u/lethalcleanliness 9h ago
I don't think they're checking legal status the bus stop. This is clearly just to encourage fitness in those who are capable. Unlike America who doesn't care if you're lazy and fat and sick as long as you give dem that green cash.

u/qedpoe 14h ago
Squats require a lot more than just "the ability to bend your legs," obviously.

u/One_Broccoli9499 13h ago
If you can’t bend your legs while supporting your body weight in a controlled manner, yeah, your disabled.
•
u/qedpoe 11h ago
Or maybe you have a trick hip/knee/ankle that's not disabling. 🤷🙄😂
•
u/lethalcleanliness 9h ago
Disability literally means you can't do something or struggle greatly to do something. It doesnt have to mean you can't do a lot of things.
5
u/jbourdea 14h ago
Anyone not disabled or elderly has no excuse for not being able to do 20 squats.
2
u/Praxisinsidejob 13h ago
I can think of lots of conditions that don’t qualify as a disability that would make squats very difficult.
•
u/lethalcleanliness 9h ago
I don't think this bus stop is checking your legal disability status... like if you say I can't do it because I have an injury or something they're not going to make you do it. Cmon guys common sense are you all bots

u/brumbles2814 14h ago
Neat! my wife has EDS not a disability but defiantly wouldn't be able to 20 squats and would result in an injury. Ill go let them know there's 'no excuse'
4
u/shasaferaska 14h ago
In the UK you can claim disabilty benefits and get a disabled parking badge for EDS, so legally it is a disability where I'm from.

u/One_Broccoli9499 13h ago
“My wife has a condition that makes her unable to do things that the average person can do” = your wife is disabled bro
-1
u/SadMedulla 12h ago
Not recognised as such and doesn’t come with the legal framework of disability bro
2
u/No-Compote9110 12h ago
in romania she would be legally disabled provided symptoms are severe enough she can't do squats
it's a failure on the side of your government bro
•
u/SadMedulla 11h ago
In Romania they don’t care as long as you’re not dying. EDS is a hyperflexibility that prevents you to exercise safely, it can induce pain. Open a book « bro ». It’s an invisible disability.

How can they even prove everyone who is disabled
2
u/Praxisinsidejob 13h ago
Well you’d be registered disabled presumably, with a little card.
•
u/hyukwish 11h ago
So people can use any friend/family member’s disability card & the machine will accept it?
•
u/fullywokevoiddemon 1h ago
No, you don't need a ticket if youre disabled. You just show the disability badge to the ticket checkers if they appear. Same for all people who are exempt from paying the fare.
•
u/lethalcleanliness 9h ago
What if you have a temporary leg injury that prevents you from the squats. You can't tell me that they check legal status or force you to squat just to get on the bus . It's probably just a suggestion at most.

20 bani to the squat, 5 squats to the leu. That makes one squat about four eurocents. Or in American that's about 23spd (squats per dollar)
•
u/Pro7o7ype 10h ago
I heard frequent users get a 5 squat reduction if they face the other direction. ;)

Why wasn't twerking accepted as bus fare? Squats aren't the only currency that has value.

u/Hitman-Pred 15h ago
I like the concept but why such a low number? I mean I'm a chunky boi and I can easily do 40 to 50 squats.
12
u/bowmans1993 15h ago
They want to encourage people to do more. The people that can do 50+ 75+ dont really need the encouragement because they are likely already active. They can still benefit from the system but its to raise the bottom bar not specifically the top or middle.
3
12
u/turkphot 15h ago
Because people need to catch a bus?
-4
u/Hitman-Pred 15h ago
It takes literally less than a minute to do so. And Romania of all places is not known for being very crowded lol
4
u/turkphot 15h ago
Population density isn‘t really relevant here but i want to point out that Romania has about double the population density of the US.

2
u/jbourdea 14h ago
They should just have no seats on the bus and you have to hold a wall sit for the whole ride

If it’s a city program I doubt that it’s that deep man. Just becuase it Romania doesn’t mean everything has a dark underbelly.

This happened for a short period of time during "European week of sport". The last time this was done was in 2022
