Mod Post Seeking community input on spam bots

Hey everyone. In the last few weeks I've been seeing increasing numbers of AI spam accounts posting in the sub. A couple examples of what I'm talking about here and here.

I want to thank the people who've been reporting these when they see them. I do remove the comments and ban the accounts. So please keep reporting this kind of thing when you see it.

I want to get feedback from the community on whether I should do more. There's a mod tool called botbouncer I could add to the sub. I mod another sub that uses it and it does help keep the bot spam down, but it's also got a relatively high false positive rate.

What do you all think?

Wearing weights to earn money - how much would you do?

A magical weight genie makes you an offer:

You get paid for every additional kg you wear as either a weight vest, ankle weights, wrist weights, or a combination them.

You get paid $25 per kg per day in perpetuity but the offer ends whenever you take the weights off.

You don't have to be physically supporting the weights at all times so wearing the weight vest whilst laying in bed is fine but you cannot remove the weights. They won't smell or get dirty by constantly wearing them but they are visible. It may affect air travel, clothing options, bungee jumping, horseback riding or other unexpected parts of your life.

What would you chose to wear and for how long?

Some food for thought:

- 0.5kg on each ankle (1kg total) is barely noticable after a while and wearing it would give you a handy $9,125 a year

- 52kg for a week is very noticable but you could just stay laying or sitting and would earn you almost the same at $9,100

- 11kg is difficult but doable and would earn you a yearly salary of just over $100,000

$10,000,000/month, but you must fight a dragon to the death in an arena every month using guns

- Before each fight, viewers vote on one weapon from the US military arsenal for you. It's yours from then on.

- Every fight is livestreamed worldwide, like the Super Bowl. The $10,000,000 comes from the broadcast revenue.

- The first dragon is the size of a horse. Each month's dragon is 10% bigger than the last one.

- The dragon breathes fire for up to 3 seconds at a time, then needs 30 seconds to recharge.

- Nuclear, chemical and biological weapons are not on the voting list.

- You can skip a fight every 6 months and won't get paid for that month.

- You can cancel the deal after winning at least 6 fights.

Would you take this deal?

If you were trapped in a room with 1000 random people, and the only way to leave is by declaring that you are better at one thing than the 9999 others, what are you saying that you are better at?

999*
If you get it wrong you can't try again for a whole year

Edit: should've thought this out a bit more:
- I meant declare as in saying it out loud
- you actually have to be better than everyone else at what you declare
- I meant 999, that was a typo

One day, you wake up to find all of your clothes have vanished, and everyone you know is on an extended vacation far away (you live alone). You still have your shoes. In place of your clothes is $3000.

• Upvotes

A month after this happens, your clothes reappear, so you don't permanently lose anything you like.

The entire world becomes trapped in a 24-hour-long time loop. At 12 AM, every night, every single person and object goes back to the exact state, location, and position it was in at the beginning of the loop - except for everyone's memories of the previous loops, which they completely retain.

  • If something is destroyed, it returns to existence at 12 AM in the exact spot where it was left during the midnight of the first loop.
  • All newly created objects vanish.
  • All dead organisms are revived.
  • All babies born return to their mothers' wombs.
  • Animals appear to retain their memories as well.
  • The entire solar system appears to also be trapped in the loop, but it is unknown if anything outside of it is.

What would you do? And how long could society as whole continue to function as "normal"? What would be practically unaffected, and what things would completely fall apart instantly?

Genie in training allows you to choose a power from a list It has prepared.

  1. Reduced need for sleep: You no longer need more than three hours of sleep per night. You can sleep more if you wish, but if you regularly sleep more your body will forget it only needs three hours and start to revert back to needing eight.
  2. Skill mastery: Forget ten thousand hours. You choose a single skill and instantly become one of the top twenty percent in the world at that skill. Can't be anything vague or overly broad. The genie will give you a skill choice for every decade you've already been alive. You get to choose an additional skill every ten years for the rest of your life.
  3. Stop Time: You can stop time once per day and for up to ten minutes. But any unused time rolls over. Don't stop time for a week, you now have seventy minutes banked up. You will always know how much time you have left. You don't age and can't die during when time is stopped. This is magic, not science, so no, all the the atoms in the air around you don't hold you in place or anything silly. But you can't unfreeze anyone else, use a computer, etc.
  4. Everything you buy for the rest of your life is half price. But you can never sell anything for a profit.

So what do you choose and how would you use your new ability?

You suddenly have the power to clone yourself, what do you do?

You wake up one day realizing you now have the power to clone yourself! You can clone up to 10 of you. When you create them they are aware of their job and everyone is happy to oblige, there's no turning against you or a clone wanting to become head honcho. When you dispatch the clones (your skin comes into contact with theirs) they disappear in a poof of smoke and you have all of their memories from however long they existed. They can only use your identity as far as government identification, unless you find a way to get that illegally. So, what will you be doing?

EDIT: The clone is made in whatever current state you are in. If you make a clone, and then break your leg, the clone will not have a broken leg. But if you make one after breaking your leg its leg will also be broken.

You have to be aware of taxes and the government. If you have ten clones working 40 hours a week there will be raised eyebrows on how you are working more hours a week then there are hours. This can be worked around with fake identification or working under the table.

If you decide to become a vigilante make sure OG you always has a rock solid alibi to the point law enforcement just thinks you have a doppelganger.

Loopholes Encouraged You have the ability to generate uninteresting superpowers.

Almost every superpower is useful, just because you can make it into a circus act and generate insane amounts of money doing things that are typically impossible, even if it's not very useful.

For this one, you can generate a potentially infinite number of super powers for yourself, but they all must meet the criteria of being uninteresting.

As a litmus test, if the power is interesting enough that the average person might pay a ticket price (say, 5 bucks) to watch you use it, it's not allowed.

Combinations of powers that become interesting together are also not allowed, but you can exchange them (equip power 1, use it, unequip, equip power 2, use it, etc).

Mostly interested in how people make it useful.

You're offered a Red Button that'll earn you $5 Million each push... but it'll also spawn either Xenomorphs, White Spikes or Death Angels to a random place on Earth.

You get $5 Million tax free with each push instantly.

Also these will spawn randomly on Earth on land at least 1 mile away from any person with each push.

45% chance for a pair of Xenomorphs (Alien)

45% chance for a pair of White Spikes (Tomorrow War)

10% chance of a Death Angel (Quiet Place)

Will you push the button, and how many times?

If you were given the choice between $100 Million or free access to your own personal (100% private) Holodeck for the rest of your life, how do you even choose?

• Upvotes

On one hand, you get generational wealth to experience everything the real world has to offer. On the other hand, you get access to a perfect simulation where your imagination (and deepest desires) is the only boundary.

Edit: You own the holodeck, and it is installed in your home or wherever you want it to be. Secret or not, that is up to you.

Other Pick one of four "superpowers" - but each one comes with a cost

You meet a magical being who honestly but firmly gives you these options to choose from - and no clever loopholes, the side effects MUST be experienced in full (although you can try to see if you can lessen them if applicable by some means)

1: Your body is in perfect shape, decided by you (IE do you want super large muscles, do you want a lean body, etc) and it will permanently stay that way no matter what. This means you can eat whatever you want, your body also will rapidly heal any injury and illness, and you'll never experience fatigue. The Downside is that once a month for 30-60 minutes you'll experience severe pain (headache, stomachache or toothache, randomly choosen) that will debilitate you. While you cannot be completely knocked out for the process, there are several things you can try to do to ease the pain slightly. Once the time is over, the pain is immediately gone.

2: You can have any one superpower of your choice and it will work perfectly (IE Superspeed will be possible, superstrength won't break your bones) The Downside is that if someone ever finds out about your power, it vanishes. (The person or persons MUST know it is you, so if a stranger sees you using your power and they never know your name, you'll be fine)

3: You get a credit card that will always return to your wallet, pocket or if those are not applicable, at your side when you wake up. It has infinite money that will bring no suspicion on you (to an extent) and you can spend whatever you want, whenever you want. The Downside is that for every 50,000 you spend with it, a random bone in your body breaks. It will never INSTANTLY kill you, but if you spend too much money or don't get help quick enough it could be fatal.

4: At any point in time if you wish to know the answer to something, you'll immediately know it, although it can only be knowledge of the past or present. The Downside is that 1-3 times every month, randomly while you sleep a demon will haunt your dreams and give you the most gruesome, scary nightmares imaginable. It will never be able to physically harm you, and it cannot drive you insane.

Which of these do you take, and why?

You found a wallet with money, but...

One day, you walk in the street and accidentally found a wallet. When you open and check the wallet, you found a good amount of money (3000$+) in there. There's nothing else like something to identified the owner, only money and some receipt inside.

But, because you clumsily check the wallet in open street, several people come and said it's their wallet.

- A large 6'5 large man who said it's his wallet and threaten to beat you if you didn't give it back
- A woman who also claim it's her wallet, she said she will scream that you steal if it you didn't return it
- An old man in 60/70 who also claim it's his wallet, he didn't threat you or anything

The street is quite crowded, no sign of police anywhere.

What will you do ?

Which 1 of the 4 would you choose to improve your life.

If you could choose between 4 options to improve or what you would consider improving your life, which would it be?

1- You never have to use the bathroom again. You can eat, drink whatever you like but never need to go or feel an urge. Nothing bad happens to your body or organs.

2- Never be hot or cold again. Your body is always at an ideal, comfortable temperature and you never need any sort of specific clothing. You still have feeling on your skin like when the wind blows or you step in the sun but never feel uncomfortable.

3- Never get a cold again. You can get sick with terrible things that are life threatening but you never had colds or anything thats mostly a major inconvenience. I get that simple colds or flus could be deadly for some people but this instance you don't have that worry.

4- Never get lost. Even if you have never been in a place before but are looking for some where, you happen to always make it there even if on accident. You may not get there the fastest way but in this concept it would only be a reasonably short time after someone who knew where they were going would get there. You just happen to be lucky and always pick the right path, road, street, alley, or whatever it may be.

Not of these things will make you a billionaire or anything but depending on what you do or where you live could be beneficial.

You can become insanely successful, but you must choose ONE path:

A) Become world-famous, but never have a private life again.

B) Become extremely wealthy, but nobody will ever know you achieved it.

Loopholes Encouraged You get any animal, pocket sized OR domesticated.

For example: You could have a domesticed zebra, but it's full size and still requires a lot of maintenance even if it's house-broken. Or a wild tiger, but it's smaller than your phone.

And everyone gets one! I'm getting a canadian house hippo!

However, all primates are off the table. No gorillas to do the dishes or pocket-sized humans to pokebattle.

$100/minute, but you have to run 5 miles to get any food

- Any food that touches your lips turns to dust unless you ran at least 5 miles in the last 2 hours.

- Only plain water is safe. Milk, juice, smoothies and any drink with calories count as food.

- The 5 miles must be run on foot over real ground. Treadmills, bikes and vehicles don't count.

- Each 5-mile run unlocks food for 30 minutes. After that, you need another run.

- You can pay $99/minute for the Snack Pass: one protein bar appears in your hand every 4 hours, no running needed.

- You can deactivate this curse anytime, but you can only reactivate every 2 years.

Would you take this curse?

You are given $100 million if you can find a marble placed randomly on earth

A random person will be given a marble somewhere on earth. Your task is to find it within 365 days.

You are given a device that shows you the general direction of the marble but not how far away it actually is. The device will only work once a day for 2 minutes at a time.

The marble will be placed on land and will be relatively easy to retrieve, it could be on the ground, a tree, a building or even your own home. Absolutely random.

You will be given $5 million out of the hundred to help with travel and other expenses. You can hire other people using the $5 million but you must be the one to physically go and pick it up.

If you do not find the marble within 365 days you lose the prize and must give back the $5 million and pay any money you spent from it.

Would you accept?

You get 10 questions you can ask anyone and they cannot lie what do you do

Da Rules

  1. The question must be less then 50 words. No trying to ask multiple questions in one use. Ex: what color is your car and what model is it? Only the first question is answered.

  2. They answer it to the best of their ability without lying. They cannot answer something they don’t know and if they don’t know the correct answer they’ll tell you what they believe is true.

  3. You have to be within 50 meters of the person you are asking.

  4. They’ll understand you regardless of what language you ask the question and you’ll understand them if they don’t speak your language. Other people can over hear but if they don’t know the language it dosent translate. This works with sign language as well.

  5. You cannot use one of your questions on the same person multiple times. Has to be different people.
