Oxygen in the reservoir is never enough Watch out for phosphoric acid. Humidity will be high, increase air flow. Ph will normally increase. All of those r from my humble experience.

I thought you dont want air pump in the res because it raises ph over time get a wave maker on a timer so it moves the water without messing up ph.

A lot of oxygen makes plants suck up water and nutrients a lot faster, if nutrients r not exactly where the plant wants, it will probably raise the ph cause off nutrients absorption. A well balanced nutrition with a lot of oxygen must lower water level without changing parameters.

Thats why I have my air pumps going to the bottom of my pots and not the res

well thats neat

How much air are you pumping for gallon?

1

u/Low_Reading_8983 5d ago

Around half my reservoir per minute. My reservoir is 50L. I use around 40L. I pump 25L/min in each plant.

Such a shame not being able to post videos

Thanks, to clarify, each plant has a 50L bucket?

Have you tried less oxygen and compared the results? Half the reservoir per minute is wild!! Like x5 the usual

Yes. Each plant has a 50L bucket. I did, that's how I started, had pretty good results actually. Bud hydro for big plants and big roots I don't like gambling with oxygen.

Nutrientchemistry is pretty nice field for engineering around with if you use super hard tapwater. Tapwater and H3PO4 are natural enemies in Terms of nutrition. (I am on coco sub irrigation/flood n drain recirculation)

Phosphate + shitloads of Calciumcarbonate with pH drift is a pretty good reservoir fuck-up. I set my initial pH on 4,x drifts 24h to 5,x. Anything from 6 on in the res is drifting on my irrigation matt to 7,xx so Calciumcarbonate just reacts with phosphate to Calciumphosphate aaaand its gone for the plant.

That's why is important to mix in the right order, and is much better if u add ur minerals solubilized

I acidify first with HCl add my base nutrients (canna terra, has no calcium) add no calmag only MgSO4. (My water has 90mg Calcium, 15 mg Magnesium from tap) then i add the desired amount of phosphate phosphorous acid and let the pH drift over night. Next day i put it to 5,5 with KOH. Now it works. I tried a lot of combinations of container type size and substrate composition and its super nice.

Base ec is 0,7. After that it sits at 1,6 for veg or 1,8 for flower.

My flower and terps have become much much better.

Same cut:

Do you think having a bigger air pump in the res helps?

2

u/Low_Reading_8983 6d ago

Yes, u don't need to get Bering sea, but a nice spread bubble little caos has proven to raise bigger plants.

Always change things slowly.

5

u/Motmotsnsurf 6d ago

I would piggy back on that with only change one variable at a time.

6

u/quantumthreads 6d ago

Forgetting to turn pumps back on after refilling reservoir. Only did it once.

Lots of hype nutrient brands out there. Don’t waste time and money chasing marketing promises when you can get incredible results and value with jacks powders, and a silica powder for during veg.

Don’t let the res run dry… 😅

Avoid the desire to max out your light’s brightness, depending on what you have. You’ll just burn leaves and off-gas more terps so you wind up with a weaker flavor.

If you use clay hydroton pebbles in the net pots, make sure they are fully rinsed in a hot water bath and allowed to cool before use. If you skip the rinse, all the dust from them will wind up coating your roots and in your reservoir and you’ll think something stupid like your nutrient powders are being knocked out of solution somehow.

PH drift is real.

Master blend is a WIN

1

u/Motmotsnsurf 6d ago

Question for you: do you get good results with jacks during flower? I had a lot of issues with them being too high in nitrogen though that was in coco.

I use master blend and it’s my first run in this dwc. I make up a concentrate then add it to the water as needed. As you can see it only uses one ml per gal of each. The analysis 10-9-19. Maybe too much N I dont know

Get a good quality ec teater and pH tester from somewhere like blue labs. The cheap vivosun stuff isn't very accurate.

1

u/Financial-Skill3198 6d ago

Blue labs are a Win! I bought the cheap ones for years and they are not worth buying. There is a reason why professionals buy blue labs.

Posting a soil grow to r/hydro taught me a lot.

Seeds over proven, healthy, reliable clones. I know theirs a ton of seed fans out there, but again we all have our opinions. For this coming indoor season, I'm likely going to break into some old classic seeds I've had for a few years & break into some of them, ones I've already ran. Going to throw a compound gastro pop in to the mix 35$ each & that will be my near new years or first of next years harvest.

Edit× searching for that true pre 98' female bubba kush to work with. I use to have Tom Hills & his amazing Deepchunck, but it's all but lost in my pow grow that they were taken from me in 2012, anyone know where she may be let me know. Ive got about every seed breeders seeds available for trade or whatever, cheers to all. ✌️

Seeds are expensive. Grow out the seed then make that the mother and make clones off that. Imo

2

u/nodijuszixow 5d ago

Too long veg time max 2-3 weeks then you flip to flower
Rarely changing water best is every week
Fuck dwc to much problems just stick to trays
Buy some powder food instead liquid much cheaper + save lots time & money

1

u/Financial-Skill3198 6d ago edited 6d ago

Dwc I put 4 plants in one tent and they over grown it. Only putting in one for now on. Don’t use seeds to start. Only use seed then clone off the mother. Maybe I should cut the veg for only 3 weeks.

2

u/Low_Reading_8983 6d ago

Has happened to me too. Veg time must be shorter sometimes, first 3 weeks of flower r crazy with growth.

1

u/Sea-Influence1946 6d ago

Cheap pH meters are expensive. Got my Apera PC60 and realized I was feeding water with pH off by more than 1 full point

Not using Hydroguard and Nutrilife Supermoist as preventive measures.

La pudricion de raiz! Te empuja a intentar mejorar y maximizar cuidados radiculares (muy muy importante).

u/coloradoautoflowers 2d ago

I lost a whole 24x 1kw HPS crop when a family member died and the guy I paid to take care of it didn't do shit.

Always automate watering because you never know what will happen in your life that could make you unable to tend your garden.
