Music Zara Larsson started laughing in surprise at audience members being lifted into the air during her performance.

Jesus she has an amazing voice! I remember hearing this exact song at a fast food restaurant and thinking it was AI and Googling it because of how perfect the vocals were, it's crazy to hear her belting it out in between fits of genuine laughter.

It's autotuned, that's why it sounds like that

Not sure why the downvotes, it is absolutely live use of autotune. It's extremely obvious at the 33-35s mark, for example.

It's not even really a big deal, a lot of artists do it these days and there are a lot of different settings. It seems like hers is set to only kick in for the more extreme notes, and it doesn't mean she's not a good singer. The majority of touring singers can't go all-out every night or they will harm their voice long-term.

"a lot" is getting to be.... 90-95% for anyone involved in highly produced music. So much so, it has become a wave of energy to me whenever I hear someone's sustained vibrato that isn't warbling in symmetric perfection around a scale tone all the way to the tippy tail end of their note, like no human ever does

People need to learn about Melodyne and how it works, but technically yes, there is pitch modification happening here. Not pitch correction.
It works by adding a changed pitch to the "faulty" one produced by the singer. How much of that pitch being added to the live mix is subjective. Good singers will use it stylistically and sparingly, other singers will use it as their whole identity.

Comparing the organic pitch here versus someone like Ice Spice or Lizzo who completely hide behind it its crucial.

Cheers!

Yeah. Without auto tune she is as average as Tom Morello without pedals

Edit to add: I can't believe that people don't understand my point. Jeez.

Neither is average, they both have mastery and both use creative tools as any artist does

Accurate, but not in the way you meant it. Tom Morello is a great guitarist.

...and how do you think I meant it? Zara Larsson is a great singer.

You can absolutely hear the autotune cutting in and out when it thinks her pitch is near enough to a tone to make it pitch perfect. I will stan fucking anyone that will turn that fucking plugin off

For real, singing like that between dancing and holding back laughter is some next level shit.

This is great. But do these folks not know how to crowd surf? Why are they all upside down?

6

u/alovejoy Aug 26 '26

They’re not crowd surfing, they’re doing her ‘dolphin pose’

Don't matter . I don't know who she is, nor the track but she seems happy & interacting nicely with the crowd . Fine by me .

Now autocue with attitude that's not right.

That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen when some butterfingers drops their friend on their neck after she asks them to do it

This is in Belgium. The world is not America.

Oh I missed the part where she only breaks this out in Belgium where was that?

Edit: also forget the lawsuit, just irresponsible as fuck
