Welp, today’s the final day for the ATF to appeal the NFA ruling which they have said they will not appeal. At first I commented back against some people who were mad about no guidance the very first week, defending that it may take more than a few days to write guidance for a law that’s been mostly unchanged for almost 100 years. We still have no official guidance out, so I’m also now firmly in the camp of “come on ATF, you’ve had enough time to write up some sort of memo for the dealers to sell or not sell cans on a 4473.”

The ATF director did say on Twitter that they'd release guidance by the end of this week.

Strategically, it may have been better if it had been appealed. I would rather have a favorable ruling from the whole 5th circuit.

Gun rights people don't care about long term strategy they want immediate gratification. If they appealed it to the 5th circuit it would have been wailing and gnashing of teeth about how we have been betrayed again.

Is getting a temporary two years and then the Democrats gutting it because there was no higher court victory to keep it more permanent worth it? I want this shit to be unassailable for the rest of my life, not be another freedom week.

The New York Times
Apologies upfront for the paywall, but I came across this article that describes American teenagers being a vector in procuring weaponry for Mexican drug cartels. That said, the article mentions that less than 5% of identified traffickers were under 17.
Often discussed in these threads is the reality of the weapon sources. These kids - or really any person in the US - aren’t buying the RPGs, M2 machine guns, and grenades frequently shown in articles of cartel armament. That stuff is coming from corrupt deals from the government and quasi-government organizations. Stuff that “falls off the back of a truck.” To this article’s credit, it does seem to mostly stick to the small arms premise.

Did Pam Bondi as US Attorney General actually do anything pro-gun? Is there any evidence that she complied with Trump's pro-2A executive order from February 2025 or were all of the actions taken after she was fired?

PaaP, or Politics as a Personality, is a very real psychological affliction. If you are suffering from it, you'll probably have a Bad Time™ here.
This thread is provided as a courtesy to our regular on topic contributors who also want to discuss legislation, not to wig the fuck out over current events. If you are here to bitch about a political party or get into a pointless ideological internet slapfight, you'd better have a solid history of actual gun talk on this sub or you're going to get yeeted.
