Serious tough day - golfer passed away
We complain about a lot of things related to this sport on this reddit. We need to be more appreciative of what we have.
Today we were walking from the 5th green to the 6th tee. Some friends had just gotten to the 10th tee, right next to the 6th tee, and they yelled over, " do you know CPR?" I went right over, a golfer was face down next to the tee box. They had already called 911 and the clubhouse. We got him rolled over and started chest compressions. Clubhouse got there within 90 seconds with an AED and we started that process. Rescue squad arrived 8-10 minutes later and took over from us.
I don't know how long he was there before we found him. Couldn't have been more than a minute or two. Nothing more we could do. Confirmed a few hours later that he had passed away. So unbelievably sad. It was a glorious fall day. We were just out there doing what we love to do. You never know when you've holed your last putt.
Friends, please get some basic CPR training. You never know when having basic skills can give a friend or a family member a chance to get to tomorrow.
