Anyone have a good game to recommend? I need a big timesink with lots of progression for when I have nothing to do during college.
I used to play MMOs but i always feel lonely in them, and starting fresh is daunting.
I played hypixel skyblock but progression takes WAY too long, id probably finish college by the time I got anywhere lmao.
Is RuneScape comfortable for beginners? I don't know a whole lot about it.

Why don't you make friends/party up with random people? That's the whole point in an MMO. That's what makes it fun :)

My video posts were removed from this subreddit for not engaging with other posts 90% of the time, even though I have proof I've been engaging here over 90% of the time with other posts. (Check my profile, count the comments, if you disbelieve.) I want to know why. There's my simple question for this Sunday.

Recently I started playing this FPS game called Painkiller. And it turns it was made by Polish developers
Anyway, what are some games that weren't made by either Americans or Japanese studios?

The Gears of War franchise is made by a Canadian studio.
If we're not limited to shooters, then a surprising one is that Kerbal Space Program was made by a Mexican studio.

Lots of Frenchies making games too.

Yeah, yesterday I discovered that a classic such as Alone in the Dark is a French game!

Boy, I had the opportunity to play STALKER many years ago and I completely wasted! I believe I got the game from the ISOZone website!
Thank you for the recommendations

If you don't mind vehicular mayhem with crass humor, Carmageddon 1 and 2 are definitely recommended too. made by a British dev team named Stainless.

What’s a hidden gem indie game you’ve played recently that more people need to know about? Looking for something fresh with a great art style or unique gameplay mechanics.

Lay of the Land. I recently played it. And it a very cool Indie game. And I hope that the maker(s) have success with this game and update will come for years.

Claude Code can take 10+ minutes sometimes so I play OSRS while waiting. Any other games that don't require dedication/full attention and can be used as time-wasters?

I'm often wondering how to balance, job, family, gaming and sports.... gaming is a big part of my life but is this worthy? How do you balance your personal life? If you won't have to work for a live, how much time gaming would take?

What are friendslop games?
2
u/CompulsiveGardener 14d ago
A co-op game under $10 with lower-end graphics that's meant to be played for a week or two with friends before moving on to the next trendy friendslop game.

Games that are co op, usually with a very simple generic goal, but also filled with a lot of ways where you can hinder yours and/or your co op partners progress. All with a slight amount of general jank.

Can i just start resident evil requiem without playing the past games?

u/DonHarold 14d ago
Yes but it’s better with context.
I’d at least play Resident Evil 2 remake first. And Leon will probably seem like an entirely different character if you don’t play Resident Evil 4 remake as well. They’re both incredible games that I promise you won’t regret playing.

Leon for me so far has just been aura farming, thats how i view him, an aura farmer

u/DonHarold 14d ago
Lol he is definitely peak aura farming in RE9. You get a little of that in 4 as well

Yes, but you'd benefit a lot from playing at least the RE2 and RE4 remakes

Some poorly explained problems + general old person frustration
I primarily rate PC gaming over console but I’m worried I’m getting to a point where adjusting / optimizing game settings and trying to fix weird performance issues is ruining my experience.
I guess my question is; what do you do when you run a game you know your computer can run and you get choppy frames / bad frame times?
My laptop is not a super high-end config but it’s always been more than reliable for 1080p (and sometimes 1440p). It’s a 4060 (140W Max TGP), i7-1650HX, 16GB RAM. For a game like Red Dead 2, I remember running it fantastically first time I installed it like a year ago. But I fired it up a few days ago after a long hiatus, and it’s struggling to hold 60 fps, has this weird jitter / flicker, and has bad frame times.
I’m beginning to feel like I have no idea how VRR and HDR work because these are things I’ve recently started using (new monitor + new TV) and the performance changes in games I’ve already tested has me thinking they’re culprits - when I know they shouldn’t affect game performance at all.
I just want a solid 60 fps in RDR2 when playing on my TV. I play at 1080p, game mode on the TV is always on, and I realized I don’t want HDR as it feels like it could be affecting performance.
Can someone explain some of the things I seem to be misunderstanding? I feel like I’m getting old + going crazy. Gaming should be much simpler than this but it’s starting to feel like I have to do actual work for every new game I try.
