Looking for recommendations for games about EXPLORATION!

I'm recently on a mood that makes me want to play games with big, unknown spaces, probably even going as far as feeling alien or liminal to explore

So far the Best example I have for the feeling I'll looking for is Minecraft Survival, as the unknown qualities of the biomes you'll encounter make the Game feel fresh and actually make you want to continue exploring as far as you can

Specs-wise, I play on a gaming laptop so I think anything on the level of stuff like Marvel Rivals is too much for the machine to handle, but I don't mind older games as long as they offer what I'm looking for!

Help! I need to find this game. Help me please

The game is about trying to find your grandfather or something I can't remember, but it's parkour game that you can sling across map by using magical gauntlet and you need to hit the sigil that carve in rocks or woods or something to be able to sling and we have rocket boots too in late game. This is all I can remember.

Looking for recommendations! I have a switch, and I’m really enjoying A Short Hike. Looking for similar cozy games. I’ve tried Animal Crossing NH, but I’ve found it to be really boring, mostly because I don’t enjoy decorating. I love games with clear goals and tasks but not super stressful. Any thoughts appreciated! Also open to suggestions on PS4

How bad is it for you when a game sudenly breaks its own logic/consistency? Is it forgivable if the game is still fun?

Why do I dislike Sony going digital for the PS6 but I’ll happily build a huge steam library?

It’s more than likely the expectation of when we think about Sony console products, we think physical copies. With Steam, it’s always been digital. The same with Nintendo to some degree. Gaming on PC has had more of a focus on digital content since the late 90s. I can remember waiting for the doom demo to download all night just to play the first couple of levels. When it finally released for consoles, it just seemed… wrong to me because I had only known it to be a digital game.

That being said, the general public (as far as PlayStation goes) has been conditioned to purchasing physical copies of games. I completely understand where people are coming from with them going digital and how that also feels… wrong. There is something about going to a store and purchasing a physical copy of something. It’s tangible. There is nothing else like it. But at the same time, when we buy games on Steam, we don’t have to leave the house and it is almost instant.

Steam has built their entire platform on digital copies and it is rarely questioned. Sony going digital doesn’t hit the same because it isn’t the platform they originally built. I think that is why people are upset about it and I see both sides of the argument.

Because if it works for them then everyone else will follow. You won't truly own any of your games, and anything your purchase will be vulnerable to being taken from you.

With physical, you own the disc and everything on it. Unless it is an online-only game, you can play that as long as you have the appropriate console, end of story.

Do you think disks for PC might make a comeback through the indie space, or is that format of physical media dead forever at this point?

Physical has been dead on pc for two decades at this point.

It won't be coming back. It has no reason to. Digital is significantly more convenient with no real downsides.

The tiny vocal minority of console users dooming and glooming over the inevitable and easy to spot end of physical gaming is entirely disproven by the successful 20 years of digital gaming we've had on pc.

I doubt that indies could afford making physical editions(
But i believe that in some scale discs will remain - for collectors fur sure

Do you think GTA VI will win game of the Year out of its own merits? Or just because the meme of GTA VI demands that it needs to be game of the Year?

What of the off chance of it being just mid people are over hyping it over the years of playing GTA v?

GOTY tends to be a popularity contest. It's rare a game wins on its own merits. A lot of mass market slop wins purely because it appeals to the casual majority, and not because it's actually a well crafted masterpiece.

In recent history, I think Elden Ring was one of the few to break from that trend because it absolutely was not a casual mass market title. It just organically built huge popularity by being such a well crafted game. And it still nearly lost to God of War, which was more pretty cookie cutter casual bait.

Can't say. GTA 5 didn't get GOTY even it had the same level of hype.
But I guess it's the biggest release of this year, I guess, so its more likely that it will get it 🤔

I think unless it really bombs, there's going to be a lot of pressure for it to get that award.
