Serious answer, she's the one dueting his video and is pulling her wig back herself with her right (left in the video) hand.

He was. The other person made that up. People have been dueting with that clip for years. https://www.tiktok.com/@therealmrs_jjackson5/video/7159306550681537834?lang=ar

This is making realize that Michael had to have a few times in his life where him and his brothers had bro moments about something that happened to La Toya or Janet.

Hay so any black women in here to answer this question for me? why the wigs?
4
u/Wubzy New to fbtd but wants to learn 2d ago
Not a black woman, but the answer is this: black hair is naturally tightly curled. If a black woman wants to wear her hair in a straighter style, she has two options: wear a wig or use heat and pressure to straighten it, which can damage the hair if done improperly or too often.
As for the other user's reaction, your question could be construed as insensitive or asking black women to justify their existence and decisions to you.

You're welcome. I understand why her response might frustrate you because it assumed your intent was hostile when it wasn't. But I would ask you to try to be more understanding of why a black woman might be sensitive about her hair, and respond negatively to questions asking her why she does x, y or z with it. There is a long and ongoing history of discrimination against natural black hair in school and the workplace, and with it an intense pressure to confirm to Euro-centric styles.

Thank you! Also some of us are trying to steer clear from Relaxers due to harmful chemicals. It's exact opposite from a Perm. I become so annoyed when people make assumptions when they have that info available on their smart phone.
Black people have versatile hair, I can style it from my natural coils to straight. Just a small correction with your reply, not all of us have tightly coiled hair. We can have various textures. Good job on you're reply. π

Same reason why other ethnicities of women wear wigs. Of course the obsession and focus is always on us. Damn if we do, damn if we don't.

Way to take offence to a harmless question and not answer it

You have your answer, ALL WOMEN wear wigs for various reasons. Hair loss, prevent damage without the use of hair dye, or to switch it up from short to long hair and vise versa.
That question is harmful, it's an unfair assumption that's only asked to black women.
