Hard men of free speech fear kids puppets

99

u/Upstairs_Baby8424 11h ago

The funny thing is when someone says “love everyone and treat others with kindness” the right sees that as an attack on them and their politics.

Maybe they should look in the mirror as to why they see those kind of statements as being anti-Republican.

u/Laconic9 7h ago

It’s like the elementary school teacher who had art on the wall saying “everyone is welcome here” and I think it had a rainbow and handprints of different shades.

And some parent complained and she had the remove it.

Edit: https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/idaho-teacher-remove-everyone-is-welcome-here-sign/6188181/?os=svergi&ref=app

13

u/geekfreak42 10h ago

They consider empathy as leftist, so you need to start there

263

u/ohilco8421 13h ago

The right has politicized every single aspect of contemporary life, from education, religion, media and information, to consumer behavior, science, health, and beyond. The damage to our civic and social environment will last for generations.

u/Feeez_Shato 13h ago

Don’t forget how they convinced the dupes that using turn signals is feminine.

58

u/deschain_19195 13h ago

It's also gay now to have sex with a woman for enjoyment

41

u/CorvusCommand 13h ago

Washing your own ass? Super gay.

20

u/upfromashes 12h ago

Well, if you're a guy, and then the person who is touching your own butthole is also a guy? Come on, it's logic.

5

u/beegboo 6h ago

Butt what about the poophole loophole?

17

u/AiReine 13h ago

I’m sorry, what now?!

19

u/antinoria 13h ago

In reference to a conservative manosphere influencer, commenting that sexis for procreation and not to give his wife orgasms.

19

u/STL_420 12h ago

Tell his wife to call me

5

u/potat0f4rmer 11h ago

He doesn't know how to do it

•

u/stolenfires 2h ago

Because caring what a woman thinks is also gay. Or emasculating. Or something.

4

u/specqq 13h ago

explains a lot.

7

u/chrisscan456 12h ago

They really said that? So who do they blame when their failure to use a turn signal causes an accident?

7

u/unkyduck 12h ago

woke commies

2

u/Feeez_Shato 12h ago

Roll coal I assume- until they run out of gas in 25 feet.

2

u/Western-Corner-431 12h ago

Even wiping your ass has become controversial

14

u/Stingray88 12h ago

They want to erode every aspect of American life so it’s cheaper and easier to privatize. They are total leeches on society.

2

u/popculturella 6h ago

Nobody hates America more than the GOP.

•

u/hoowins 2h ago

The face that this damage is celebrated by some former friends makes me sick.

113

u/leviathan65 13h ago

Promoting openness, compassion, and acceptance is political now. That tells you all you need to know.

27

u/SapphireStar26 12h ago

Don’t forget the crappy stuff about empathy being evil now. I wish I was joking. (Not Sesame Street, but others.)

18

u/SEA2COLA 12h ago

Elon Musk said empathy was a 'sickness'

3

u/Galadriel_60 8h ago

Since he’s clearly never had any, how would he know?

1

u/TheREALOtherFiles 6h ago

He's too high on ketamine as far as I know.

7

u/Exodys03 11h ago

Exactly. I agree that children's programming shouldn't be overtly political but if their promotion of inclusivity and kindness to everyone offends you then, well... you might want to look inward to figure out why that is.

23

u/shawhtk 11h ago

Sesame Street was overtly political when it was created back in 69 showing an integrated neighborhood when that still made a lot in this country uncomfortable. That was obviously a good thing.

Sesame Street should always continue in its progressive roots and btw fuck Fox News and their personalities.

11

u/myfrigginagates 9h ago

I was a stage manager at Sesame for 4 years in the early to mid 90s, what people call "political" is generally just examples of being a good human. Including the integrated neighborhood. In reality that (integrated neighborhoods) was also NYC in the late '60s when the show began.

3

u/shawhtk 9h ago

Late 60s nyc was also not that great a place in race relations. Blockbusting and redlining were all the rage and neighborhoods were changing in short order when a tipping point in racial demographics were reached.

The West Side neighborhood that mostly inspired the show itself was mostly destroyed to make Lincoln Center and other new buildings.

4

u/myfrigginagates 9h ago

As far as things like segregation, it's worse now. Between gentrification and school choice it's really awful in the school system.

45

u/BananasPineapple05 13h ago edited 13h ago

That politically divisive rhetoric of being kind to your fellow puppets, handling your emotions and learning to read, write and count.

I should have known!!! /s

2

u/VegasRoy 6h ago

Well, Count von Count is obviously an immigrant so…

2

u/No-Common5287 4h ago

Except the grumpy green one that lives in a trash can. Fuck that guy.

28

u/tullbabes 13h ago

Fox News ain’t news. It’s fucking wrestling at this point.

6

u/BronkosAutoRepairing 12h ago

Fox News hasn't been news for decades.

2

u/Aromatic-Elephant110 9h ago

Isn't it technically called Fox News Entertainment? Because it's not news?

1

u/BronkosAutoRepairing 9h ago

It's called Fox News Media.

2

u/funkympc 8h ago

It never was news. It was always agitprop and their goal was to muddy the waters enough to put Republicans into permanent minority rule.

3

u/lanceturley 11h ago

If every Fox News program had someone run on to the set from off camera and smack the host over the head with a steel chair, i might actually start watching.

14

u/Sc0825 13h ago

They will say anything and do anything to back the Republican Party no matter how ridiculous their actions are. Thank Rupert Murdoch for that

12

u/ThirdDimensionGate 13h ago

Because to racists, anti-racism, and anti-bullying is “political”

12

u/Take-it-like-a-Taker 12h ago

They should watch Sesame Street and Mr Roger’s from 30+ years ago and get ready to clutch their pearls

Sesame Street plainly shows a community struggling to keep the heat on. The importance of community is constantly prefaced by the fact that the kid’s family are at work

Mister Rogers showed multiple women breast feeding and a small girl go through most of a standard physical. He also heavily focused on the blow-hard King Friday and taught people to pacify those people by killing them with kindness and focusing on their positive intentions.

These blow hards just want a way to hurt someone that has a platform who is saying something that they don’t like

These people act like it is a truly terrible thing to call a genocider a hypocrite

8

u/woolsocksandsandals 12h ago

Conservatives hated Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers and Reading Rainbow back in the day also. In fact, their criticisms have not really evolved much.

I still see reverberations of their criticisms of the self-esteem movement, positive discipline and attachment parenting in their criticisms of shows like Miss Rachel and Daniel Tiger, and of how millennials are raising their kids today

5

u/Anna825 11h ago

How could you legitimately hate Reading Rainbow? The message was just read more and learn more. Like, was reading too liberal or something?

5

u/No-Bread-1197 11h ago

Brown host

5

u/Gamma_Goliath17 10h ago

Don't forget conservatives are the ones also banning books. They hate the educated mind.

2

u/Single-Pin-369 7h ago

Reading is for the preacher to share the bible with the masses and thats it.

1

u/CasinoKnightZone 7h ago

Black guy telling kids to think for themselves and read.

They don't want people to think. They want them to do what they're told.

6

u/g27c 13h ago

For the culture warriors at Fox, everything normal is political because everything is political for them. They are on a crusade to mold the culture.

8

u/Accurate-Frame5104 13h ago

They think kindness is a left wing political stance.

6

u/RandyArgonianButler 10h ago

Some puppet: “Always be nice to people!”

Conservatives: “What is this sick propaganda?”

4

u/SteamedGamer 13h ago

"I like to help! It's fun to be nice!"

5

u/BikeExpensive1932 13h ago

They mad that Bjg Bird didn’t call ICE on Maria and Luis?

6

u/LegacyQuotient 11h ago

These jackasses just never stop braying their crybaby bullshit. I swear.

5

u/givin_u_the_high_hat 13h ago

Being kind to one another and being smart is communism now.

4

u/Stlouisken 13h ago

They only care because they believe these programs and children personalities have different views from them. If they were conservative or Republican they would sing a different tune.

4

u/alwaysright60 13h ago

Dumbfounded by the pettiness Fox News has normalized. Even more dumbfounded that they continue to exist.

4

u/robsul82 13h ago

Yeah, “share your toys during playtime” and “be nice to others” sure is political

0

u/unkyduck 12h ago

Throwing the toys out of the pram then crying.

It's the USican way.

4

u/ClimateAncient6647 12h ago

Grown adults bitching about Sesame Street. What the fuck have we come to?

4

u/superdupermensch 12h ago

But a president saying he'll"date" a 9 year old in 10 years, totally acceptable.

3

u/potat0f4rmer 11h ago

Sesame Street teaches kindness, conservatives hate that

4

u/JellyrollTX 11h ago

They aren’t political, they are kind and considerate… that republicans and Fox News think that is political, speaks volumes about their low character

3

u/RedHeadedSicilian52 13h ago

Well, all art is political, I’m told.

3

u/Trajinous 13h ago

Republican are openly against empathy, its a threat to them

3

u/oh_please_god_no 13h ago

I hate these people so much

3

u/Ok-Panda7645 13h ago

They made being nice and respectful to people political.

3

u/Ktrout743 12h ago

Being kind is “virtue signaling” to these psychos.

3

u/Choice-Koala-3653 12h ago

The right see any form of pro-Human and humanitarian messaging as 'anti-white' and Communism. And they fear education. So of course they feel threatened by Sesame Street and Ms Rachel.

3

u/17to85 11h ago

They ever wonder why the villain in a lot of stories are wealthy businessmen or industrialists?

3

u/abgry_krakow87 11h ago

Religious conservatives love raging war to cancel culture everybody from Mister Rogers to Sesame Street.

3

u/hamtronn 10h ago

Being kind to others isn’t a political statement.

Being a twat to everyone that doesn’t look like you and molesting children wasn’t a political thing either but the GOP sure made it their thing.

2

u/Stevenitrogen 13h ago

When standing up for human decency, community values, understanding cultural differences and leading with a default position of compassion and openness have become political acts against the established order, yes, Sesame Street is political. It's teaching their kids to respect other kids and they don't like it.

2

u/dholmestar 13h ago

how is this surprising lol

2

u/Mechanik_J 13h ago

No, fox news is authoritarian.

2

u/broke_boi1 13h ago

Teaching people to be kind and good people is political now?

2

u/Odd_Figure2797 13h ago edited 1h ago

The same people that said Mister Roger's was problem. Yes people Fred Roger's, Foxnews was bashing him and the neighborhood, you know the show that thought us as kids to be kind, to share, to be considerate of others who are different and not fear them, to be a good neighbor, to be a good friend, to be ok with our feelings and how to manage them. Yeah that's a problem for Foxnews. Totally makes sense when you see how they are as "humans"

2

u/chrisscan456 12h ago

These assholes hated Mr. Rogers years ago and hate Ms. Rachel now. Danny Go will be on their list soon enough. They are the same people who said empathy is a sin so this is not a surprise by any stretch.

2

u/upfromashes 12h ago

Empathy, kindness, knowledge. Why works they broach these controversial topics?

2

u/Asta1977 12h ago

"Elmo likes blue waves!" Cookie Monster slides into frame. "Cookie Monster's favorite color is blue!" Both turn towards the camera and Elmo adds, "Kids, tell your parents to vote Democrat!"

I'd love to see it. 😆

2

u/nalninek 12h ago

This is the same channel that called Mr Rogers an “evil, evil man” for teaching kids they’re special just for being who they are.

Ignorance propaganda never changes.

2

u/NFTokin 12h ago

yeah thats why i watched it

2

u/narcotic_sea 12h ago

Empathy is political to scumbags

2

u/mishma2005 12h ago

I remember when Alisyn Camerota said Mr Rogers was "evil" on Fox and Friends. They've been at this for years

2

u/bluehawk232 12h ago

Even republicans used to see value in sesame street and Mister rogers. He testified before congress and got them to approve funding for pbs. Those days are gone

2

u/Beforemath 11h ago

When things like being nice to people and common decency is “political”

2

u/ryohayashi1 11h ago

At this point, I feel like woke just means anything with a heart and soul or empathy

2

u/Mom_who_drinks 11h ago

Being a decent person is anathema to these miserable fucks.

2

u/bwoah07_gp2 11h ago

Anyone who works for Fox News should not speak up about this. They are right wing propoganda.

2

u/Alert_Front_9948 11h ago

Hardly surprising. People on Fox News believe anyone who holds an opposing opinion to them is "being political". I'm shocked they didn't call Sesame Street and Miss Rachel "woke" or "leftist".

2

u/DrapedInVelvet 11h ago

Anything to get their drones not to realize they are poorer and less healthy and less safe under conservative leadership. Letting the rich rob them blind is manly.

2

u/WebbityWebbs 11h ago

Because to Fox "news" being a decent person is deeply partisan attack on conservative values.

2

u/Ok-Possibility-923 10h ago

Apparently learning about human decency is political.

2

u/APraxisPanda 10h ago edited 10h ago

My douche bag MAGA brother told me he and his wife don't let their 4 year old kid watch Sesame Street because they are legitimately afraid it'll make him a godless gay or trans person. He is so afraid of this that he is trying to get him into a private Christian school.

Here's the kicker, he is literally an Atheist!

2

u/midwest_riverman 10h ago

All these guys thing things like being kind and helping children feel loved are political acts because they are assholes. That’s the key. These dudes a just self righteous assholes. If something doesn’t fit their narrative it’s because it’s political. Never do they consider for one moment it’s because they are in fact dickheads.

2

u/Tebasaki 10h ago

"LMNOP.QRS,TUV"

Jesse Watters: Trans people have no rights! Now watch me sexually objectify what I think a woman is.

2

u/Ristar87 10h ago

Someone's been huffing fumes in Oscar's trash can.

2

u/BienPuestos 10h ago

They’re always shilling for one letter of the alphabet or another. Totally biased.

2

u/charlieyeswecan 9h ago

Loving your neighbor is political

2

u/Long-Blood 9h ago

Pretty sad the right wing has been able to turn "be kind to others" into a political statement but here we are.

2

u/RapBastardz 8h ago

When you make being anti-math, anti-science and anti-human your policies, everything seems political against you.

1

u/Fishtoart 13h ago

If somebody put you out of a job you’d probably be pretty political about it too

1

u/Button-Down-Shoes 13h ago

Oligarchs trying to keep the focus on the cultural war and distract from the class war that’s actually destroying the world.

1

u/rmarkmatthews 12h ago

Yeah I remember watching as a kid and Bob was always trying to teach Big Bird about labor power and the modes of production.

1

u/Mobile_Razzmatazz828 12h ago

Fox entertainment

1

u/Apprehensive-Till861 12h ago

Today's episode brought to you by the letters A, C, and B.

1

u/NeitherEntry6125 11h ago

They also thought Wall-E was a bad message to kids

1

u/the_little_way 11h ago

Loaf of bread. Quart of milk. Stick of butter.

1

u/NeutralLock 11h ago

The broader question that always comes up whenever someone says "this person should stick to [whatever it was that made them famous]" is then whom are we allowed to look up to?

FoxNews is entertainment so not them. Politicians are definitely not meant to be admired..... who's allowed to have opinions these days?

1

u/PrestigiousCopy4963 10h ago

…and that evil readin’

1

u/ObviouslyUndone 8h ago

So Ms Rachael is inculcating pre-verbal children and toddlers? Are they serious?

1

u/cachurch2 8h ago

Empathy is apparently political

1

u/GardenPeep 7h ago

Heh - a podcast called “the Girls”.

1

u/moby__dick 7h ago

People who show love and care to others:
Sounds liberal.

/s

1

u/CasinoKnightZone 7h ago

Fox News said Mr Rogers was evil.

That is all you need to know about them.

1

u/1cem4n82 7h ago

The obsession with our children has got to end. This is the numero uno issue to tackle. They are so obsessed with our children and quality media of any kind reaching their little minds.

1

u/BabyGodx42069 7h ago

Everything is political. Also the bible states that rich people are going to hell, this includes president drumpf and his sycophants. My sources are Luke 12:20, Luke 16, and Matthew 27.

1

u/dat_kodiak 7h ago

Just because someone says something doesnt mean its true

1

u/VinylmationDude 6h ago

I just rewatched the first episode a bit recently, and holy mother of God folks, they indoctrinated the youth with the idea that a W could also be an N which could also be a V which could also be an I.

1

u/skinnyminnesota 6h ago

Republicans think kindness and decency are political.

1

u/Wizard_s0_lit 5h ago

The Count did start a rightwing podcast after the accusations.

1

u/ScorpionTDC 4h ago

Art is political. So what?

1

u/Ktrout743 3h ago

A great litmus test for if you are the bad guy in a given situation is this: if teaching kindness and empathy is a red flag: you are the bad guy.

•

u/Ten2OneOdds 2h ago

I don't want to know what Fox would say about Me. Rogers today.

•

u/AccountHuman7391 1h ago

To be fair, teaching children to be kind is political. It’s unfortunate, but one political party abandoned decency, so yeah, it is political now.

•

u/DASynnthetik 16m ago

They teach sharing and that's socialism! Cookie Monster should pay for his own addiction, nobody else should have to give him their cookies! /s
