Poor design of Sykes Park improvements
They installed 3 shade canopies. The first one is on existing concrete, second one next to the tennis court and they look fine. The one next to the pickleball courts was installed on sunken ground that has been muddy for over 20 years. This one is lower than the other two and to make it not muddy they need to raise the ground a foot which would make the support beam 7 feet from the ground instead of 10 feet like the others.
When they were installing this one they dug into the ground and damaged the power lines and lights have been out for over a week.
Down the hill from the entrance where hardly anyone goes there was a children's playground installed around the same time as the mountain bike trails and no one used them since it was so isolated. Late last year they replaced it with exercise equipment that won't get used much for the same reason. They should have installed them under one of the canopies where people will see and use them.
