Debian Stable Question Help needed fixing error while updating Debian

A little while ago, I installed the Brave browser through the command line and then I later uninstalled it. However, whenever I use sudo uptdate, it seems to try and still update Brave.

Here is the error message I'm getting. I did edit the https address and to ruin the link so this post doesn't get auto-removed by Reddit.
Warning: An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. OpenPGP signature verification failed: hhttps://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com stable InRelease: Sub-process /usr/bin/sqv returned an error code (1), error message is: Error: Failed to parse keyring "/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg" Caused by: 0: Reading "/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg": No such file or directory (os error 2) 1: No such file or directory (os error 2)

I tried re-installing Brave and then removing it and associated dependencies but it didn't seem to work. I apologize if this was answered elsewhere but I am kinda at a loss for what to do.

How exactly did you try to remove the repos? Did you remove the relevant entries in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ ?

Sorry, I should've said dependencies, not repositories. I used sudo apt autoremove after using:

sudo apt remove --purge brave - browser

The error message in OP is clearly about repositories.

I don't understand what you want now.

I was hoping to remove the attempts to update Brave. How can I access /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ do remove relevant entries? I tried using nano but nothing showed up at all and I can't seem to find them with a file search in text editor.

start a konsole.

can you post the commandoutput of:

tree /etc/apt/sources.list.d

maybe you need to install the command tree first by doing s

sudo apt install tree

I was able to find /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.sources using the command. If I remove all the text from the file in nano, will that do the trick or should I delete the file another way.

delete the file and do a sudo apt update - the error should then be gone.

The error is gone now. Thank you!

You can do it either way. Just deleting the file with "rm" works too (and is imo psychologically more preferrable to leaving an empty useless file)

That worked! Thank you for the help.
