Rumor The Lakers are apparently interested in trading for Jalen Smith. All we could really give up is 2 seconds and expiring contracts. Do you think the Bulls have any interest in that?

Does Jalen Smith factor into the Bulls long term plans? Do you want the team to retain him or extend him or cash in now for future assets?

EVERY player is tradeable for the right offer.

2nd round picks are close to worthless though. Jalen Smith is a young, contributing rotational player on a reasonable contract. Just dumping him doesn't make the team better now, OR later.

26 isn't young in NBA years. He isn't potential anymore. He is the player that he is right now. All your other points are valid tho

He’s just entering his prime. That is fairly young

Eterna has a point. The period of obvious development is done. But yea he still is youngish, and could easily play another 10 years in the league.

Yeah he’s a decent rotation player entering their prime. Zero reason to trade for seconds

I 100 percent agree he's not worth moving for seconds. He's a serviceable backup big and that's a valuable piece

You're not technically wrong at all. But most people hear "young player" and they typically picture someone who's less than 4 years removed from the draft. Smith has 6 years in the NBA under his belt and the average NBA career is about 5 years. He's practically a veteran at this point if you think about it 😂

Hilarious that you're getting downvoted for stating an obvious NBA truth, homerism here is so ridiculous

Yeah I like Jalen Smith alright enough but it's important for Bulls fans to know that's he's not a young upstart center with tons of potential. He's just okay and that's okay.

Nobody has said young upstart center at all. You people just suck ass at reading. He said young and contributing. Jalen ain’t even 30 so yes even for nba he’s still considered young like a young vet. Bulls aren’t giving that up mid rebuild for garbage picks just to help the lakers. It’s that simple

Jalen is 26.55 years old as of today. The average age of an NBA player last year was 26.36 years old. He is literally older than average. Dumbass.

Lakers fans have spent all offseason spamming pu pu platter trades on social media. I'm good on all the Vando/Knecht/Laravia/Hardy and 2nds for your good player(s) offers. It's the basketball version of when Yankees fans were trying to trade Frazier and Andujar for whatever All Star any given team had.

As for Jalen, it's a weird situation where I wouldn't trade him for 2nds but idk who would be willing to offer a 1st for him. And while he's young enough to fit into the team's intermediate term future, I also wouldn't give him a bag and idk if he'll ever be a starter here.

I'd take a 1st for him now if that's out there. Otherwise, take it to the deadline and reassess. And if the offers aren't great then, take it to the offseason where the Bulls can either re-sign him or sign-and-trade him.

It's kinda funny how Lakers always have certain players that will always be on the pu pu platter mock trades.

I guess now that Gabe and Rui are gone they have to use new players. Surprised they're giving up on Dalton so soon.

No one in a team sub will give you a fair evaluation but smith is like the third most important player on the bulls this season lol

Cash considerations incoming

This is not a legitimate story. It originated with a click bait journalist. Neither team is talking about a trade right now

He’s more valuable than you would think looking at his stats. He stretches the floor, defends the rim and can play the 4 or 5. That’s a fairly rare mix of skills at 6”10 so they’re not going to give him up unless it’s a 1st or promising young player.

I'm pretty sure everyone is on the block to some degree. Obviously some contracts make that impossible, but I don't think we wouldn't at least consider most offers for anyone.

I’d be open to trading Sticks if we can trust Collins to stay healthy and / or Noa has reliably broken into the rotation. No need to jump the gun at a deal this early though and can be done closer to the deadline

Knecht is probably worth a punt on his rookie deal. Ziaire, Hardy, LaRavia are all decent squad depth to get at their price points too but idk who they’ll want too keep vs. move yet.

lakers has nothing for us we better not trade ANYONE except for pwill for 2nds. cuz 2nds are useless to us and bryson even said he sees 2nds as useless.

Players get traded for seconds all the time man

1

u/Jazzlike-Mention-570 2d ago

He definitely didn’t say he sees seconds as useless lol.

For Cameron Carr

Unless they’re sending a future 1st no deal and not that fake rumor stuff

2nd rounders? So basically cash.

1

u/Southernbull75 2d ago

Sure, would it be easier for us to just cut him and you can get him off waivers?

Collins is out early of the season IMO.

Jalen will be taking the back-up center spot.

On top of Lakers offer not making sense for the Bulls. We need a back-up center because Collins is often injured.

I don't think its a very interesting offer...  we have plenty of 2nds.

Give us Kessler and sure

u/MysteriousActuary0 2d ago

Probably will be traded for reinsdorfs favorite: cash considerations

u/MoistTheAnswer 2d ago

Throw in cash considerations and Jerry will get that done right now.

Throw in some cash and you probably have a deal! (jk)
