The Ruskis sure know how to craft a film, but unfortunately they are not represented well in the US market. Any recs to add to my collection?

I posted a few weeks ago that I picked these up and so last night, I did a double feature, and it was amazing of course, so when I was putting the films away this morning, I realized that they had reversible art and I have no idea how I missed that! Imagine my GAG lol.

I’m going to be out in LA next weekend and plan on hitting up Amoeba on Saturday morning. A couple of quick questions for peeps who have been:
- Is there a wide selection of previously owned from boutique labels? Or should I expect a wide selection but mostly of new discs at SRP?
- Is stock broken out by label? I know there’s a whole Criterion section, but are there other label specific sections?

I've recently discovered a niche of horror that was "shot on video" back in the 80s, 90s, or early 2000s. What I find interesting about this niche is that, in theory, it was free from Hollywood or otherwise mainstream conventions, management, budgeting, etc., leaving it to be a wild west of bizarre horror and creativity.
I don't really know what's out there and worth watching or adding to my growing Blu-ray personal library. The only ones I've seen is Suburban Sasquatch and Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell, both of which were wildly entertaining.
I would be interested in hearing —
TIA!

A very kind user on here offered me their unopened Legend LE at no cost. It got delivered today. I only had watched it last month, the theatrical cut on Prime Video, and fell in love with the film. Between the Tangerine Dream score, cinematography, and of course Tim Curry, I felt like couldn’t get my hands on a copy soon enough. To get the LE (which I am a sucker for with the slipboxes and physical extras) for free of this was like being handed the Holy Grail.
Happy October everyone, and rest in peace Tim Curry.

Was happy to get this in the mail two weeks early today so I had to pop it in. The Last Boy Scout only gets better with age in my opinion. That has to do with how much gambling has become prevelant in sports, especially football, and the further away we get from these 80s and 90s style movies the fresher they feel compared to how PC and safe everything is now. This movie is hilarious, violent, everybody curses, unhinged villain, it's great.
Also, this was my mom's favorite Bruce Willis movie lol so we watched this so many times it always makes me smile.
This is definitely the best this movie will ever look. The daytime scenes look so vibrant and the night scenes look so cinematic. Tony Scott really was on another level on a visceral sense sometimes. The bit rate never dropped below 75 mbps when I checked. Occasionally I would see the bit rate pop up to 125! most of the time it was 80 to 105 which is basically just standard with an Arrow WB restoration at this point.
All the audio choices are fine, but I listened with headphones with dual 50mm drivers and the 2.0 is the way to go. Crank that shit. Every gun shot, car crash, is amazing and you can hear everything everyone says. I think headphones might be the way to go for now on. Might be the new lifehack.
Great interviews on the extras as well. This 4k looks terrific. I cannot reccomend this release enough.

Not that it really needs to be strictly October since I kinda adore both of these.
If you dig horror comedies mixed with fantasy, check 'em out.

I've been revisiting Michael Apteds Up series with the release of the latest and final installment airing a week or two ago. My sister got it for me a couple of Christmases ago for about 25 quid or so and I check online now and it's going for 120 quid and up.. Nice! Lol

Took advantage of Barnes & Noble’s Kino sale and got a few blind buys I’m hyped to see. Day of the Dead was also on sale so I couldn’t resist. I’ve been looking for Kurosawa’s memoir in the wild but found this instead, and the Hitchcock was at my local used book store for $5!
Overall a fun little trip with some great rewards!

Picked Umbrella’s box set up months ago while on sale. It’s an October must watch (1 in particular)!

Hey! So I ordered the better tomorrow trilogy and tombstone steel book from orbit just now! For some reason my shop app had my old address on it and not my current home address. I’ve already reached out to them and asked if they could swap it but do you think they will be able to get the correct address before it ships out! I feel like an idiot for not double checking.

Picked up a few new ones today at the local used shop and got “Disclosure Day” 4k and the two criterion 4ks (including “Trainspotting” in a Scanavo case, “Mrs Doubtfire” & “Abandoned” from PressPlayVideo. “InnerSPACE” was from Amazon. 5/6 of these are 4k Blu-ray releases.

It appears that Mubi owns the rights to this. As Radu Jude fan, I have to think this film will get a physical release soon right?
There are so many films that are locked in digital.
The other one that shocks me is “I’m thinking of ending things,” my favorite film of 2020.
But do you think it’s likely that the titular film of this post gets a physical? Who would be the most likely to do it since mubi doesn’t seem to drop films that aren’t new.
