Completed first 50 miler!
I hopped back on the saddle after years of not riding this last July. My legs were definitely cooked at the end!

The Weekly Cyclist Thread is a place where everyone in the /r/bicycling community can come and ask questions or share anything.
You might have questions that you don't think deserve an entire post. Perhaps you're just seeking the input of some other cyclists. Maybe you want to share a picture of your new bike.
Anyone is free to comment, and (hopefully) get as much input as possible from other cyclists.

So I’m 4’8.5, and I’ve had no luck finding ANY adult size bike for me so I decided to try out a 24 inch wheel custom road bike. Now I’m just wondering if this is TOO small for me.. please help. Also, if you could let me know if it’s just a seat height that needs to be adjusted, that would be great. Lmao shoutout to the dude selling it to me and his supportive comment.
Edit: do yall know if I can adjust handlebars on this aswell???? Thank you, I’ve been looking for a good bike fit for months, so
Is $300 decent?

Rode from Lake Placid into the trail about 21.5 miles then had to turn around and ride another 21.5 miles back to the car. Absolutely beautiful trail and the leaves changing made it even prettier. This is officially my longest ride and I discovered some chafe points that I need to prevent for next ride. Nothing beats a beautiful day trip on the bike!

Said I was just getting a bike then the shoes showed up, because flats on a new bike felt dumb. Then one more box today, a Huawei GT 7 Pro. Almost went Garmin, then looked around the group ride photos and got bored. Everyone's got the same one.
Mostly so I stop charging a watch every other night, and so I don't get turned around on a loop and have to call my wife like a lost kid.
Haven't even ridden it. Clipped into the new shoes in the hallway and almost ate the coat rack, so that's going well.
Money's gone, excuses are gone.
Anyone riding around Barcelona this weekend?

This is a year long culmination of planning, parts collection, and acquiring just the right frame. Some folks consider the MX Leader the holy grail of 90’s steel race bikes. After my first ride, I’d have to agree. ✨

I don't remember where and under what circumstances, I found this concept, but it didn't even seem bad the first time.

Looking for fast-rolling road tire recommendations for my Jamis Renegade.
Wheels: Stock 622x23c (23mm inner width, 37–62mm recommended range).
Current tires: Panaracer Slick 35mm. They fit and ride fine, but they're already slightly below the rim's 37mm minimum spec.
Two quick questions:
Is it actually worth trying to go narrower (e.g., getting narrower rims to run 28–30c) for road speed, or will a fast 38c–40c slick roll just as efficiently?
What are the fastest slick or semi-slick tires in the 38c–40c range that you recommend for tarmac?

I bought it covered in stickers from a friend who used it as a townie commuter so he never cared what it was.
It’s a rigid 29er, with a sticker saying “manufactured exclusively for sbs inc. Seattle, WA”
005a1ok00309 is stamped on one side of the BB shell, the other side has a stamp that is illegible.
Has skinny wheels with a flip flop single speed/fixed rear hub. Tektro rim brake on the rear.

I’m looking for a serious wheel set to upgrade my bike.
On one of the models I have preselected (Reserve 42/49 TA) , I can see on the official website the wheel equipped with DT SWISS 350/240/180 DiCut.
When looking for dealer selling those nearby home, I found an additional hub DT180 (no DiCut).
I remember having the 180 standard offered On the official website, so not surprised, but it is not anymore.
Secondly, it seems the weight is not refelected correctly. Any idea ?
Official: Wheelset Weight DT 180 Dicut - 1365g , DT 240 1390g , DT 350 - 1429g
Shop online: DT 180 Dicut – 1331 g, DT 180 – 1341 g, DT [240 1372](tel:240%201372) g, DT 350 – 1429 g
My main question is : what is the difference DT SWISS 180 & DT SWISS 180 DiCut ? I search quite a lot but no real solid information.
Thanks for your insights!

I just finished watching Premium Rush (2012). And boy what a movie it was! It's an absolute bike commuting propaganda -- and I mean it in the best way possible.

I'm commuting to work about 3 miles each way, plus longer trips (10+ miles) a couple of times a week. Nothing particularly strenuous. I'd like to switch over to waxing the chain. I'm fully aware that there won't be much practical benefit, but I enjoy tinkering and it sounds like a fun project.
Since it's a commuter bike, though, it will be parked outside in the rain once or twice a month. I know wax doesn't work as well as conventional lube in damp weather; how about parking or riding in the rain? Does this make waxing a waste of time, or just require a more thorough drying when I get home?

Just taken delivery of my new Hunt carbon wheels (absolutely gorgeous!) and looking for a second opinion... Planning to run TPU tubes, but noticed the width of the base of the valve stem is larger in diameter than the hole in the rim - likely to be an issue? It'll mean the base of the valve isn't flush against the run under pressure...

Hi! I have been riding the same wonderful Fuji Feather road bike for 12 years. She is still kicking, but I want to purchase another bike. I am looking for something single-speed, durable, light and fast. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm working on my first bike build, and bought 650b rims for it. (One 49°N, and one WTB ST i23).
I've been trying over multiple days and absolutely cannot get a tire fully seated on either of them. I tried two different types of tires (45nrth Gravdal studs, then Schwalbe Marathons), heating the tire with a blow dryer, putting soapy water on it, using/not using tire levers, starting and ending at the valve, putting the bead in the centre of the rim, etc. I've also had someone much stronger than me try (who admittedly isn't very bike savvy) and they also can't get them on. I've already broken a tire lever.
I'm going to take them to the bike shop at this point, but I'm flabbergasted. Other than being the same size, the one thing in common with both wheels is being tubeless compatible. Is this what's adding the difficulty?? I'm just not sure how it'll be feasible to ever change a flat on the road at this rate.

I wanted to find out if I can post about an audiobook that is an autobiography about a woman that rides e-bikes. I thought people in this group would find it interesting. I have free promo codes to give away that allow you to listen to the audiobook for free. I wasn't sure if that was allowed in this group. I'm the narrator of the audiobook.

Hello. My son is saving money for a TSUNAMI SNM100 Complete Fixie. The lowest price I’ve seen is $610. Is this a good price?Or are their more affordable alternatives? TIA.
