Truly shocking that we’d be confident after winning a bullpen game. With Chris Sale to start game 3 and feature in game 5 if the series gets there. How dare we believe in our team.
We get two games at home in a 5 game series that’s tied at 1 a piece. With our 2 best starters going in those games. Against a team we’re 6-2 against on the season. Truly heinous stuff from Braves fans.

u/CirculationStation Atlanta Braves 1h ago
Atlanta’s season now comes down to a best of 3 against the 2x defending champions with two games being at home and both rested starters ready to take the mound. Basically the best scenario that could have been asked for. If we don’t win and advance, then it simply just isn’t meant to be. I’m excited!
7
u/Cuphat Atlanta Braves 43m ago
Best case scenario would be Braves up 2-0 needing only 1 win in the next 3 but the Braves got the next best thing because going down 0-2 we'd have very little hope.
I hate that the LDS is a 5 game series.
1
u/Cuphat Atlanta Braves 35m ago
Seriously, I get why the Wild Card Series is only a 3 game series, because making it super long would leave the BYE teams just sitting on their ass for too long, but can we make the LDS a 7-game series? I don't know that a 7 game series would be better for the Braves this year but I fucking hate it being a 5 game series.
Oh no, we added 2 days to the MLB postseason schedule. I think we can survive that.

If you know Braves baseball this is going to a game 5 in LA that will be decided by a long reliever and a pinch hitter who may or may not also be the long reliever.

Listening to Kerr in his post-game interview, this dude is a fucking legend. He is so humble and down to earth. Asked how he handled the stress of knowing the world was on his shoulders, he said he didn't really feel it. Spent time with his wife and family, went swimming, had breakfast, and then went to the ball park and warmed up a bit and got to work. Just seems like a super chill dude.

u/Cuphat Atlanta Braves 40m ago
I am not a fan of him as a commentator outside of when the Braves had a 4-man Hall of Fame booth like last year/the year before last. I don't have a single instance of why I am not a fan of him, and to be fair I dislike most national broadcast commentators, but he goes in that same bucket.
Wish MLB.TV actually sync'd the radio audio feed to the video. I want to just jam to the Braves radio team and have it actually be sync'd with the video.
1
u/i_need_about_tree_50 43m ago
I dont think it's impartiality, it's that he sounds like and old man upset trying to return cold soup at a diner. I grew up loving him and I still do as a player but as a commentator, its pretty awful. I gotta deal with enough "yell at clouds" people day in and day out, too then have to hear it while trying to do something I love... it's such a buzzkill.

Dave Roberts that kid from grade school that wrecks everyone at tekken by button mashing.
Idk how Dave gives JDP, a 21 year old kid, the last AB in a close playoff game. Why not pinch the 0-30+ Andy pages? No Alex Call, no Kiké.
Why tf does he trust someone that pitched 6 starts in the regular season to show up. This mfer has been sleep walking to a WS with this roster.
Don Mattingly could’ve won 2 WS for us at the very least.
1
u/monstarjams Atlanta Braves 11m ago
Dave is successful because of the talent of the team not because the talent of himself.

1
u/joseph_grizzly Atlanta Braves 35m ago
i currently have two braves games on my hd that i recorded from a stream.
the "POUR LARRY A CROWN!" walkoff win against the mets with the hall of fame legends broadcast.
and the first game after Bobby passed (which oddly enough was a 7-2 win against the dodgers, strider pitched 6 scoreless). watching the pregame when Byrdie shared his story of Atlanta bringing him back, saying he couldn't figure out why because he failed for them, and Terry Pendeleton told him "cuz bobby loves you!" and he just lost it after a fist bump from moylan. man....still gets me emotional.
13
u/jharden10 Atlanta Braves 1h ago
The Braves are flat out a better team even with a depleted starting pitching depth. The Dodgers is vastly overhyped given how underwhelming they've been throughout the season.
17
u/Rico_Sonnenfeldt Atlanta Braves 1h ago
I wouldn't go that far lol, we can absolutely beat them, but this Dodgers roster is stacked to the gills and they are about as healthy as we've caught them in years.
9
u/I_Make_Food_Often Atlanta Braves 1h ago
The truth is that if Acuna and Riley would wake up, we would cake walk this team. The other truth is that they know how to pitch to Acuna and Riley so it evens the playing field.
Also the fact that we just beat them on our third bullpen game in a row is embarrassing no matter who wins this series.
1
u/Norandran Atlanta Braves 35m ago
Acuña has been frustrating to watch but Riley seems to be doing better at the plate this postseason. I think Ronald was told to quit playing like his hair was on fire but there are times I wonder why he seems to be out of the game when he could be playing smarter.

-6
u/TheBillsMafiaGooner Los Angeles Dodgers 58m ago
The Dodger rotation absolutely shits on Atlanta’s and one bad start from Snell doesn’t change that.
1
u/strahlend_frau Atlanta Braves 51m ago
We're now 6-2 this season...
1
u/TheBillsMafiaGooner Los Angeles Dodgers 48m ago
Milwaukee went 6-0 against the dodgers last year in the regular season. Then they got swept in the playoffs. Regular season record means fuck all. Nice win tonight, but let’s calm down and not get cocky after one win.
1
u/strahlend_frau Atlanta Braves 40m ago
Nor cocky but I'm not trashing the Dodgers either. The Braves deserve to be here, won the NL East, and have secured the third seed despite having trouble with our starting pitcher rotation. If anything they've shown they want to win. Snell did bad tonight, but y'all still have more starters than us and will be facing our best starter next.
1
u/Apositivebalance Los Angeles Dodgers 29m ago
Yup. Should be a good game. Really impressive pitching tonight by the braves and equally unimpressive work on our end.
Both of these teams seem capable of beating each other. We’ll see how it all shakes out
1
2
u/jharden10 Atlanta Braves 53m ago
Your offense managed two runs against a team lacking starting pitching depth. Your lineup hss been slumping since August, and those issues haven't changed.
0
u/TheBillsMafiaGooner Los Angeles Dodgers 50m ago
I would take the Braves lineup over the dodgers. Pretty much every hitter we have is past their prime. Good thing baseball isn’t just about hitting.
21
u/captain_ahabb Los Angeles Dodgers 1h ago
Braves should feel very confident rn but "flat out better" is probably overconfidence.

It is, that kid is 14 and doesn’t know our history.
1
u/jharden10 Atlanta Braves 29m ago
I'm well aware, but it's pathetic you have to resort to name calling. Calm down, and I watched the Braves struggle to even win a series past 2001. Sure, history can be a descent indicator of what happens, but acting as if because we were chokers from 2002-2019 means we're going to do it again is faulty logic.
9
u/cormega Atlanta Braves 1h ago
Massive braves fan here. I'm inclined to agree with you that that's a massive dose of delusion
-3
u/jharden10 Atlanta Braves 55m ago
Look at the Dodgers offense in August. They hit just over .230 as a team and if you removed the games against the Rockies, their numbers including slugging dip even further. Anyone could get 100 wins in a top heavy NL West, when you can beat up on Colorado and San Francisco.
1
u/MolestedMilkMan Los Angeles Dodgers 33m ago
Again, you went 7-5 against those two teams. But yes our offense has been bad.
5
u/captain_ahabb Los Angeles Dodgers 1h ago
Yeah. Still got Yamamoto and (probably) another Skubal game.
1
u/MolestedMilkMan Los Angeles Dodgers 34m ago
Im not concerned about our pitching as much as I’m concerned about our months long slumping offense.
7
u/Winbrick Atlanta Braves 1h ago
To be fair, irrational confidence is really the only thing enabling me to watch playoff baseball.
7
11
u/MegaMatrix08 Atlanta Braves 1h ago
I’d say the hitting depth is more even for the Braves but the dodgers’ offense can turn up anytime for damage. It’s a little worrisome
17
u/PineappleDildos Los Angeles Dodgers 1h ago
We won 100 games?
-5
u/jharden10 Atlanta Braves 1h ago
You won 100 games in 2021 and 2023 and proceeded to underachieve in both seasons. Those 100 win seasons like this one are meaningless.
2
u/Accidental-Genius Atlanta Braves • Louisville Bats 37m ago
Dude, we are the very last franchise on gods green earth that should ever talk shit about underachieving in the post season.
1
u/jharden10 Atlanta Braves 33m ago
That only further my point. Winning 100 games is meaningless headed into postseason play. Both the Braves and Dodgers proved that in 2023.
3
u/BulletTooth_Tony1 Atlanta Braves 1h ago
put the Giants and Rockies in our division and we win 100 too
4
u/MolestedMilkMan Los Angeles Dodgers 51m ago
You went 7-5 against those two teams. Not exactly a steamroll.
0
u/BulletTooth_Tony1 Atlanta Braves 40m ago
point is, the bottom 4 in the west was weaker than the bottom 4 in the east, by both win totals and run differential, LA had an easier time. either way none of that matters, its a 3-gamer with 2 in Atlanta and we have starters now
1
u/MolestedMilkMan Los Angeles Dodgers 38m ago
I mean your point doesn’t stand, divisional games are always fucked.
And you are right in the sense the only thing that matters is the postseason. Braves pitching should do well as dodgers hitting has looked lifeless for the past few months.
1
u/BulletTooth_Tony1 Atlanta Braves 32m ago
kinda does though. put LA in the AL West and they might win 110. it's not a difficult concept.
8
u/EmergencyO2 1h ago
100 wins is an exceptional season. But LA still lost 62 and is now 2-6 vs ATL. This is why the games are played, no one is unbeatable.
13
u/SGT-JamesonBushmill Atlanta Braves 1h ago
Yeah. But that poster up there said the Dodgers are “vastly overhyped” and that the Braves are “flat out better” than the Dodgers. That’s just a ridiculous thing to say.
2

Quite ridiculous and I'm an Atlanta Braves Fan. I don't know why people just can't be happy for their teams and stop with the trasn talking. I'm very happy we beat them but they did make us sweat like we made them sweat last night. In any event, lots of things can go right or wrong in baseball and you never know. Just because they lost a playoff game doesnt negate the fact that they vastly out spend everyone and have literally gobled up almost every high value free agent and trade for the last 3 seasons. Yes, their front office is still ruining baseball.
-6
u/OUTFOXEM Dodgers Bandwagon 46m ago
And yet they barely scraped by last year to win the WS and needed like 7 individual miracles to win it -- none of which were influenced by their payroll, by the way. And now Atlanta is in the driver's seat this series.
Maybe baseball is just fine.

51
u/psych4191 Atlanta Braves 1h ago
I understand this game was an upset based on being a bullpen game, but the analysts act like the Dodgers are head and shoulders better than the Braves. This year that hasn't really been the case. We're 6-2 against them so far. With Sale and Mahle lined up and rested, I think there's a better than 50/50 shot we win this series in Atlanta. We're definitely in the driver's seat, and I don't consider it an upset if we advance.
15
u/joseph_grizzly Atlanta Braves 1h ago edited 49m ago
nothing you said is wrong, but the Dodgers have legit half a lineup of Hall of Famers and every single starter is a cy young caliber pitcher (and most have actually won at least one cy young). and they have two guys that can be shutdown closers in Roki and Diaz.
it's kinda dumb.
0
u/TheBillsMafiaGooner Los Angeles Dodgers 55m ago
What he said is statistically wrong. Absolutely no fucking way is there a “better than 50/50 chance we win the series in Atlanta”. Could it happen? Sure. But at best it’s a 60/40 chance each game which means less than 50/50 chance to win both.

Well then he should have run the numbers lol. Because his are wrong. The series is probably close to a coin flip at this point. Yama vs Sale will be an epic game 3

huh? 60/40 for 2 games, that's 120/80, bro, and not in a blood pressure kind of way

Not to mention they had guys coming out of their bullpen I never heard of throwing 102

I legit forgot they had Diaz and i was surprised Roki looked shaky.
then they showed his numbers from last postseason lmao.

yeah one of the innings where you scored they literally said it was going to be another 1-2-3 inning for the dodgers lol

That's because on paper, or at least the eye-test, it's true. But you can pay for every elite all-star the game has, but it doesn't guarantee you're going to win.

u/Legitimate-Ad-3406 41m ago
Yes, on paper they should have beat us 10-1 but it doesn't play out like that, does it? That's a good thing LOL

Was it Smoltz talking about how having so many stars impacts the stars because they're seeing other guys do things they can't do for the first time and it makes them lose confidence? Interesting psychology.
4
u/captain_ahabb Los Angeles Dodgers 1h ago
idk about that, I think the Dodgers star hitters are just getting old
3
u/IM_KYLE_AMA Atlanta Braves 1h ago
If he said it today, I missed it. I have been listening to the radio broadcasts because I've found it lowers my anxiety. Also, I try not to listen to anything Smoltz says. He's often wrong and usually being an asshole about it.

If I can start the game on time I may do that on Tuesday.
I have started keeping a scorebook in Braves postseason games because it helps calm my ADHD and nerves piling up
It was low key not fun watching at times in the past because my dumb brain got overwhelmed.
3
u/IM_KYLE_AMA Atlanta Braves 1h ago
I fully encourage you to do it. Ben, Darren, and Joe do a fantastic job. Ben's calls are the best in baseball.

Oh I love our radio booth, I just usually don’t listen to them in the Postseason. Would if it was somehow embedded into my TV feeds like in regular season (MLB app)

Could we get Milwaukee Brewers vs The old Milwaukee Braves instead of the media wannabe NLCS Dodgers-Padres?
16
u/damandan28 Tampa Bay Devil Rays 1h ago
The issues is that a Padres/Dodgers NLCS will definitely result in deaths
8
u/Coyote_Shepherd Boston Red Sox 1h ago
So what you're saying is that the Padres/Dodgers NLCS would be a "Hate Series" but a Brewers/Braves NLCS would be a "Joy Series" because of the historical connections between both clubs.
Like there would still be a little "Hey we're going to grind you into the turf" energy but there would be a lot more "OMG YOU GOT HERE TOO??! GIMME A HUG!" energy as well.

Yea I’m sure it was really hard on you back in 1965 when the Braves packed up and left after 12 long years playing in Milwaukee

This is now a 3 game series. We have our starters rested and lined up. And we have home field advantage.
This game was HUGE.

Weiss gotta lotta flack but shows how good of a skipper he is knowing Kerr would hold the LA tidal wave.

i feel like people are gonna be finding out about him in this postseason. braves fans know he is an absolute unit. he turned 21 this year and is a total stud that goes 2 innings all the time. stoked for him to finally come out and perform on the big stage for everyone.

u/PvtSherlockObvious Atlanta Braves • San Francis… 51m ago
If he keeps going like he did tonight in particular, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a shot in the starting rotation next year.
2
u/junpeilin San Diego Padres 1h ago
I am glad that Weiss still believes in him after the Phillies serie
1
u/TheMeargler Atlanta Braves 5m ago
Walt trusting in him in game 3 against Philly even in spite of the hiccups the prior 2 games is probably what helped him have the absolute cajones he had in LA.

He's got a wife and baby at home along with his whole family watching this interview. Theres no way he gives away that he loves those lemon pepper wings as much as the next guy.

I personally do not get strip clubs.
If I had endless money like them I might but I do not get the appeal of them at all.
I'd much rather go home and play with my kids than go watch naked women with a buncha dudes.
2
u/-_chop_- Atlanta Braves 30m ago
I don’t really do strip clubs either but you can bet your bottom dollar I’m getting their wings on door dash at least twice a month
1
u/joseph_grizzly Atlanta Braves 1h ago
obviously some strip clubs are different that others, but the ones i've been in i just felt like i was way too young and way too viable to be there.
like it was nothing but old dudes with dreams. dudes who were all out of the game.
3
u/Conscious-Move9662 Boston Red Sox • Chicago Cubs 1h ago
That's been my experience.
Guys buying a dream I just don't get it but I'd rather that than being weird to some gals at a bar.
So whatever, I don't judge if everyone is consenting.

My good friend and cousins are from Atlanta and I lived in Portland(tons of strippers).
I get it's part of their cities culture still I don't get it.
