People give california a hard time because of how much hype it gets, but it easily lives up to that hype.

u/tyler-86 World Series Trophy • Los Angeles Dod… 2h ago
Yeah, it reminds me of that Yogi Berra quote about how nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded.
It's like how people argue California isn't a desirable place to live because it's too expensive. Why do they think it's so expensive?
1
u/valoossb Philadelphia Phillies 2h ago
that is actually interesting. by definition can desirability account for price?
2
u/tyler-86 World Series Trophy • Los Angeles Dod… 2h ago
There are some other factors but in a generally free market, there's absolutely a relationship between demand and price.
4
u/rented4823 Milwaukee Brewers • Madison Mallards 3h ago
California kicks so much ass, just sucks how expensive it is and how far away I live. Spiritually I belong in the Central coast
-3
u/WhoDatBrow Houston Astros 3h ago
No hate in saying this I promise, but I used to be one of those people who idealized California and always wanted to live there. And then I was moving and actually went out to LA to live there and saw it's not really all it's made out to be. From the perspective of a normal, not rich person anyway. I don't think it's some shithole or anything like a conservative would say, but idk it was just another place in almost every way. Good weather but I live in Arizona so I'm used to the same kind of weather, even if hotter.

You rather have 60+ HR in the regular season, and go cold in the playoffs? I'm not naming name.

Can’t believe he wasn’t more banged up from that. That fall looked full of sharp, bone breaking corners.

I don’t think most braves fans hate Freddie. Seemed like he wanted to return and then they signed Olson instead. I remember Freddie was extremely upset with his agent and with the braves, there was some sort of miscommunication during the bargaining.
14
u/thoughtsofmadness Boston Red Sox 3h ago
Yeah it was very messy. There was the claim his agent hid the Braves final offer, then the legal threats from said agent, then the retraction, then Freddie parting ways from the agent in question. Whole thing was FUBAR.
4
u/MangoHotDamn Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago
And acuna hated him

u/brandont04 3h ago
That's bc Freedie held him accountable. Freedie is all professional.

I want them to win, but the Braves deserve to lose this series based solely on the fact that they ever let Freddie go to LA in the first place.
8
u/PackOfBraves83_95_21 3h ago
Rough take. For starters. Matt Olson!
And secondly, see nuance of Freddie’s agent being the actual reason for him not being in ATL.1
u/YaketyMax Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago
And secondly, see nuance of Freddie’s agent being the actual reason for him not being in ATL.
Doug Gottlieb made that up. He immediately issued an apology and retraction when threatened with a lawsuit.
2
u/PackOfBraves83_95_21 3h ago
Braves went and got Olson bc they were misled by the agent. It has nothing to do with what Gottlieb said. The agent played too much hardball and Freddie got screwed. Braves GM wasn’t gonna be caught holding the bag if Freddie left so he got proactive.
0
u/YaketyMax Los Angeles Dodgers 2h ago
Braves were not misled. Freddie wanted a 6th year. If the Braves just gave Freddie the 6th year like he deserved than he'd be a Brave right now. I'm happy they did not. 😀
1
u/Think4Yoself Atlanta Braves 1h ago
We know that Freddie knew about the Braves offer because the agent threatened to sue Gottlieb who retracted the story and we know that Freddie fired his agent based on how things were handled. It seems to me that either the agent didn't tell Freddie that the Braves had a deadline or that he rejected the offer from the Braves without Freddie's permission. I don't see any other way it could have played out.
1
u/YaketyMax Los Angeles Dodgers 1h ago
I don't see any other way it could have played out.
Another way it could have played out: Braves could have just given their MVP cornerstone franchise player the 6th year he deserved.

u/409yeager Cincinnati Reds 3h ago
I mean are we really still acting like Matt Olson hasn’t been just as good these past five years?
4
u/dropperofpipebombs San Francisco Giants • Sell 3h ago
Matt Olson hasn't spent the last five years teabagging my team a dozen times a year like Freddie has.
1
u/GamerLife204 Atlanta Braves 3h ago
Funny thing is if freeman was still a Brave Dodgers might have gotten olson instead. They were gonna get a first basemen anyway
1
u/brandont04 3h ago
Yeah, but Freedie hit 2 walk off in the WS. Kinda hard to top this.
2
u/409yeager Cincinnati Reds 3h ago
Also impossible to foresee that when you’re negotiating a contract, so it’s a non-factor.
The Braves replaced Freddie perfectly. The Dodgers have had a better team and Freddie has made the most of the big spots he’s seen in the World Series.
Both are true.
-1
u/brandont04 3h ago
But if the Brave signed him, they took away a MVP on the Dodgers roster which probably means they never won any WS.
Instead, the Dodgers got 3 MVPs on their roster n going for a three peat.
2
u/409yeager Cincinnati Reds 3h ago edited 2h ago
If the Braves sign him, the Dodgers probably just go get Matt Olson themselves.
It’s a wash.
-1
u/brandont04 2h ago
Matt Olsen isn't hitting WS walk off.
2
u/409yeager Cincinnati Reds 2h ago
Lol if he was on the Dodgers and Freddie stayed on the Braves he very well could have and you’d be having this same discussion about Freddie not being good enough.
Hilarious how you bots reduce career value to one or two postseason moments.
0
u/evanphilipsburneracc Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago
How many walk off homers in the world series does olson have? 🤔

Yeah great point front offices these days are expected to have perfect situational postseason foresight when negotiating contracts.
