It's really impressive how managers can keep themselves in check in situations like this like hopefully they get to celebrate and go fucking wild when the job is done but damn that takes a different kind of person to have that job
Also like seeing Danny Burgers getting hype

u/SoberDrainoDrinker69 Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago
Danny Burgers has been INSTRUMENTAL in this offense turn around from last year. Every single thing about this team when it comes to approaching an AB is completely changed and it’s working.

u/Darrow-au_andromedus Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
I agree his impact has been extremely obvious in the plate approach this year

u/milkhotelbitches Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago
Tbf, there's no reason they "have to" keep their emotions in check in moments like this. There would be absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating like crazy for a walk off win. It's just his style I guess.

u/Delicious-Item6376 San Francisco Giants 3h ago
If they learn to control their emotions when stuff like this happens, it helps then do the same when things aren't going well. That's the time you need a stoic levelheaded person in charge.

I disagree. You see elite managers in other sports, like Jurgen Klopp for example, go absolutely wild after a big win or a goal. Doesn't effect his ability to manage tough moments at all.
3
u/INAC___Kramerica New York Yankees 2h ago
This is where I might argue the evolution of the sports are just different. Because you're absolutely right and it's actually not entirely uncommon for managers and coaching staff to even join in with the players celebrating stoppage time-winning goals down at the end of the field where they scored. For every Carlo Ancelotti who is, much like Pat Murphy above, someone who you would never even know what happened if you had an iso cam on them (ಠಿ_ಠ), there's Klopp running onto the field to celebrate with Alisson after Pickford's insane own goal to decide the derby in the final minute in Dec. 2018, Mourinho sliding on his knees in a fresh gray suit or trolling the Camp Nou after Inter survived Busquets' bullshit in 2010, and other examples.
That's just been something that baseball has evolved differently on, even as player celebrations have, with fine reason, gotten far more expressive than they were 50+ years ago. Managers and coaching staff tend to let the players have the glory and stay out of the way.

That's the poise of a man who has accidentally torn open more than one Pocket Pancake in his time. The key to the Pocket Pancake is its warmth. As soon as it gets torn open, it quickly loses heat.
If the roof was closed you could maybe get away with tearing open a Pocket Pancake as long as it is consumed within a few minutes but with the roof open? No chance. With that much airflow, the heat quickly dissipates and the Pocket Pancake is completely ruined.

Bringing in Murphy that year (2023) and knowing we had Baldwin down in the minors. Baldwin just had a better outlook than Contreras

There’s no chance a Counsell led team wins 97 and then 103 games. The team chemistry is so much different

Counsell is just so high strung. Pacing. Running his hands through his hair. Just looking exasperated. Murph is just a damn rock of stability in comparison. Calm, cool and collected.

His club option is 14.5 mil. Only way the Brewers don't accept that option is if they work out an extension instead.

Honest question, are there rules about leaving the dugout and/or providing help during a play?
50
u/DinoSpumoniOfficial Milwaukee Brewers 3h ago
Ground rules state that players can fake swim on the field while the runners are advancing. It’s a clean play.

u/Wetworth Milwaukee Brewers 3h ago
Good to know.
What are the ground rules for instructing a roof? Asking for a west coast team.
3
u/WIbigdog Milwaukee Brewers • Wisconsin T… 50m ago
I think it's mostly left up to ump discretion so if you're not actively interfering with the play and are out of the way they're not gonna do anything about it. That would be my expectation.
