I'm having trouble remembering a better postseason at-bat (in a do-or-die situation). The guy is TWENTY-TWO. Ice water in his veins.

u/AcanthocephalaGreen5 Toronto Blue Jays 5h ago

Not just ice water, his veins have Lake Superior water in them.

Veins of Culver's frozen custard, with a fire of the hottest fried cheese curd burning in his belly.

u/ddthrow1233 Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago

must have had a curderburger before the game today...

Its true. He never gives up his dead when the skies of November turn gloomy

28

And under contract until 2033

Add more years. Keep him through his prime.

2

u/XPlutoniumX Milwaukee Brewers 3h ago

Only LA or NY can afford that

6

u/bout3_50 San Francisco Giants 4h ago

Big Papi had a few

2

u/Parking-Coach574 Chicago White Sox 5h ago

Brosseau of the Rays had an insane one against Chapman in 2020

u/Jessssiiiiccccaaaa 4h ago

Dude looks way older than 22

3

u/HashOutHashBrowns Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago

It be the beard.

But also, this is the like the tenth comment saying Chourio looks way older than he is and three of those suggested he actually is older than that.

u/Infinite_Response113 Boston Red Sox 5h ago

Doing that against Mason Miller is crazy

61

u/Zloggt Chicago White Sox • Algodoneros d… 5h ago

To be fair…Stammen lowkey kind of set him up to fail by leaving him out like that to begin with!

24

u/jebuizy New York Yankees 5h ago

I think he needs to be able to do it tbh. It's October. If the best closer in the league can't go 2, it's on him

10

u/BrianMeen 4h ago

I’d think the best closer in the league should have to go 2 innings

36

u/mysticlepopsicle Los Angeles Dodgers 5h ago

His season high is 30 pitches. I was surprised Craig let him go that long AND face Chourio. But that's the fate of a manager, if he pulls Miller and Adam (or whoever else comes in) lets the Brewers walk it off, they blame Stammen for not using your best arm (even if taxed and pushing 40 pitches). If Miller blows it, they blame Stammen. He chose to ride with his closer and now he's gonna wear it.

11

u/ELITE_JordanLove 5h ago

Yep. At that point you may as well leave him in, no way to come out looking good if either guy blows it. Hindsight is easy. Chourio misses by a quarter inch on that foul and it’s praised as a genius move. Such is baseball.

u/Whatsdota Milwaukee Brewers 1h ago

Also he pitched a great at bat to Chourio. Chourio just got the better of him on this one

19

u/horsehasnoname Los Angeles Dodgers 5h ago

That Sanchez AB was key. You know Miller couldn't just couldn't locate his FB and his slider never looked like a strike at all. Churio was hunting fastball and got one right down the middle

18

u/redditlvlanalysis 4h ago

I think the Yelich steal also put a ton of pressure on him honestly

3

u/Existing-Stranger632 Los Angeles Dodgers 5h ago

Yep. Miller shouldn’t have been allowed to pitch after walking Sanchez. Padres do have a deep enough bullpen that they could’ve gone to another arm. Kind of strange decision making by Stammen. This move cost them the series

11

u/ELITE_JordanLove 5h ago

If they pull Miller and whoever is next gives up a hit to Chourio, zero chance the manager isn’t getting absolutely tarred for pulling the best reliever in baseball.

u/OnlyForBaseball Pittsburgh Pirates • Sickos 5h ago

I usually agree with this, but no chance here. He walked the bases loaded. He didn’t throw a single competitive fastball up in the zone. Every slider he threw to Sanchez was a cement mixer or uncompetitive

Everyone could see he was drowning except his manager

Jackson Chourio is just built for the spotlight!

For all the "lights too bright for this anemic brewers offense finally facing real pitching" comments I saw for eight innings of the game thread:

24

u/IllogicalBarnacle Milwaukee Brewers 5h ago

There was a comment in r/CFB regarding the Notre Dame @ Wisconsin game where people were saying “Catholics vs alcoholics” and then a bunch of comments pointing out those are the same thing

White Sox vs Brewers would have the same vibe

1

u/_isthisbillable Toronto Blue Jays • Chicago White Sox 1h ago

This is my bet. It’ll be Sox vs Brewers this year

I turned the game on right when I saw the bases were loaded. Really just an awesome matchup. Either way it ended would’ve been exciting. This is why baseball is amazing.

The best sound in sports is the second roar. The first buzz when he hits it, the eruption when it gets through. Just love it. Minneapolis Miracle is the best example of it and it's so awesome.

Unreal inning, you could have asked 100 people and none of them would have told you Mason Miller would walk 3 guys and blow the save

Chourio got his playoff moment

19

u/IamSpace_Ghost San Diego Padres 5h ago

If you ask 100 San Diegans you’d get 100 people telling you we’d choke. We’re cursed.

Brother, a third of the year I have to dig my car out of a big frozen slush pile and layer up for subzero temps.

You get 75° and sunny like 350+ days per year.

We suffer for it. You can comfortably go for a walk in shorts, during January. There’s a trade off happening here on some level. You can’t have sports success and prefect weather every day.

7

u/IamSpace_Ghost San Diego Padres 4h ago

It’s 100 degrees today, I don’t have AC in my apartment and I can’t afford a house! What a paradise
