It’s not like he can go out and swing the bat for them. Sometimes you get got by Drew Rasmussen.

as much as i want to be mad, Rasmussen has destroyed us and Baker is just as bad this year. What I'm really worried about is Peralta coming close to that with all his changeups tomorrow.

Baker has looked much more hittable recently. He has lost a couple of mph of velo, and I am worried it will really hurt him at some point.

Sticking up for him? He did a great job, pulled all the right levers with the pitching staff to keep it to 1 run. Including Ryan Weathers’ first appearance in over a month who looked great.
Rasmussen was just nasty and has owned the Yankees. Move on.

Yeah, this is silly. I hate Aaron Boone as much as anyone but that loss isn't on him. Other than maybe showing Austin Wells a handgun and telling him "if you try for third I'm going to shoot you in the face" I don't know what Boone could have done to win.

I wouldnt say he has no blame , trent looked so bad need to ph him for his 3rd go around probly wouldnt have mattered but leaveing him in when hes clearly dosent got it tn is stupid.

I mean, he didn't look great, but if Boone had pinch-hit for everybody who went 0 for 3 with 2 Ks he would have had to pull half the team.
Besides, who do you have hit for him? Goldschmidt, against a righty? I guess Stanton, but given his limitations I think holding him until someone gets on base or until the 9th is a valid strategic call. If Wells had just held up at 2nd then all of a sudden you really want to have Stanton still available.

He had by far the worst abs on the team yesterday so he should have bin swaped just to even changed it up like come on boone rass had em by the balls needed to change it up no matter what
Its 1 0 late and ur picthing looks decent take the risk with ramos or volpe (then ds ramos rf jones cf)

These things happen when the two best teams in a division play each other. Simple as that.

At some point there is nothing a manager can do if they run into a pitcher who is just shoving.
Austin Wells getting thrown out at third was awful though. Not really a Boone decision but could be reflective of poor coaching overall

Austin Wells running to the third was rough but when the Yankees straight up got 3 baserunners the entire night you can almost see why he tried to run it out

Wells getting run out that third is the difference between a Stanton swing potentially winning a game vs trying to tie the game.
Completely killed any momentum the Yanks had.

Wells getting thrown out was the biggest mistake of the game, but I don't think he was scoring if he stayed at 2nd anyways

Aaron Boone didn't get a single hit yesterday so it's partly his fault they lost

Lineup got shit on by a pitcher on his game. Did anyone at all complain about Boone?

Our fans could stub their toe walking around their own house and reflexively blame Boone for it

Great game by Drew. I'm not that upset, still wondering what Wells was thinking, but let's be real we pinch hit McManhon and Stanton probably strikes out.

Cam Schlittler is gonna win the Cy Young with a 1.95 ERA
Drew Rasmussen had a 1.81 ERA against the Yankees
Rasmussen has pitched better against the Yankees than the presumed Cy Young winner
It’s one of those interesting things about baseball. Sometimes, a player just has a team’s number.

I don’t even think the biggest Boone haters on the planet are calling his name on this one tbh

Boone didn’t do anything wrong unless you think overstacking the lineup with lefties susceptible to offspeed was the wrong decision. Nothing you can do.

What is up with Goldschmidt anyway? Injured? Washed?

u/dsmithnyciii New York Yankees 1h ago
He doesn’t face righties. Extreme splits. Mashes lefties though.

he's 39 and had a .667 OPS in the second half...ima go with washed

He’s a lefty specialist. The Yankees platoon him so he doesn’t play every day
This yeah vs LHP he’s hitting .299 AVG .393 OBP .573 SLG .967 OPS
He’s washed when he’s facing righty’s. But still a lefty killer.

Drew was DEALING last night, Cole made 1 mistake and that decided the game
See ya tomorrow night fellas

u/ThisGuy6266 Boston Red Sox 13h ago
Losing a Cole start in the playoffs would have been a killer for NY in the past, but they have the pitching edge the next two games.

What could he have done?! It's not like he benched their best hitters. Not his fault. Just good pitching.

Would probably help if they had Judge and Stanton, only so much they can do without them.

Sometimes an elite pitcher is just unhittable. Happens
