Sual | Question SAT ilə xaricdə bakalavr təqaüdü alan olub?

Salam. 11-ci sinifdə oxuyan bir qohumum SAT-a hazırlaşır və gələcəkdə xaricdə (İtaliya, Polşa və s.) bakalavr təhsili almaq istəyir. Maddi səbəblərə görə yalnız təqaüd hesabına oxuya bilər.

Burada soruşmaq istərdim: SAT nəticəsi ilə xaricdə bakalavr üçün təqaüd qazanan olub? Hansı ölkə/universitetdə və təqaüdü necə əldə etmisiniz?
Təcrübələrinizi və məsləhətlərinizi bölüşsəniz, çox kömək olar.

So, Russian-Armenian "activist", or more like war mongerer, Arshak Makichyan, whom probably many in this subreddit know for being an unemployed obsessed guy who spreads misinformation, just posted a video where he went up to a restaurant in Berlin called Karabakh, started screaming that they're appropriating "indigenous Armenian culture" and worst of all, posted it. You can't genuinely make this shit up. This guy, who once said Khojaly was fabricated by the Azerbaijani government and said the ethnic cleansing of 750,000 Azerbaijanis, whom he denies the right to return or even existence, and destruction of tons of heritage were just "some war crimes", stands in front of a restaurant, harasses people and acts like a genuine homeless moron. I have no idea who funds him but I just wanted to post this here cuz it's gotten to a point where it's pure absurditx

Sual | Question Buying phone from Alibaba.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about buying a single smartphone from Alibaba for personal use in Azerbaijan. Before placing an order, I’d love to get feedback from anyone who has done this locally:

* Customs & Declaration (Smart Customs / IMEI Registration): Did you face any issues declaring the phone through Smart Customs? How smooth was the IMEI registration process after arrival?

* Shipping & Local Freight Forwarders: Did you ship directly via DHL/FedEx, or did you use local forwarding services (like Camex, Starex, Limak, etc.) using a Chinese warehouse address?

* Network Bands: Did the phone work seamlessly with local operators like Azercell, Bakcell, or Nar (especially for 4G LTE B3/B7/B20 and 5G bands)?

* Global vs. Chinese ROM: Did it come with Google Play Services working out of the box, or was it a Chinese ROM that needed flashing?

If anyone in Azerbaijan has ordered phones from Alibaba before, your tips and warnings would be super helpful!

Thanks!

It is really amazing how much effort the state invests to build a new Qarabakh. Wonderful! It is a long drive from Baku but you have to see Shusha and Hankendi. I had luck with the weather, staying there and see this huge monument like a door to the sky…

I came from the USA to visit Baku for 4 days and just have to say thank you, everyone was very friendly and the food was amazing, already looking at coming back to explore more of the country outside of Baku. Really wasn’t sure what to expect but it was much better than imagined. And I came after the Formula 1 race so I was just a regular tourist, not there for the race, although was fun to see them taking apart everything.

Although getting a Visa online was easy, hopefully they change it so you can get one on arrival for US citizens (I don’t think that was an option) I’m a seasoned traveler so getting one in advance is fine for me, but that would open up more possibilities for people looking to come to Azerbaijan or even a last minute trip which would bring in more tourism.

Thanks again and now I don’t know how to live without Qatab and Gurze.

Edit: also as a huge Eurovision fan, I want to see Azerbaijan thrive again and back in the final. 🔥 😆

Səyahət | Travel My terrible Azerbaijan experience

So im posting at 3am because I cant sleep

Im a tourist from germany and yesterday night I arrived in Baku. Maybe I just got unlucky but at the airport I decided to book a taxi at the counter for like 26 MNT to my hotel. It was a reasonable price for me before I saw Bolt prices.
Arrived at my hotel the driver told me „you have to tip here, everyone does it“
I was like I dont have cash and he said card is also ok. So he automatically put 10 Manat to the reader and presented it to me. I asked if it isnt much, he said its the lowest amount he can do. He took the card out of my hand and put it on the reader. At that time I didnt care cause I was tired but later on I regret it because such behavior shouldnt be tolerated. However it got worse at the hotel.

I checked in at 6am, he told me I have to wait for my room to be ready. I said no problem, 2 hours later he told me the room isnt done but ill let you rest at another room until it is. I thought hes being nice so I thanked him. I slept till 12 and my room was done. I went to my room and the guy then asked me to cancel my order on booking.com for them to sace on fees. It felt sketchy but he assured me the price would stay the same. So I did, later I wanted to pay and he tells me its +100 Manat for early check in. I complained and said no one told me that, its unprofessional, I get it but how are you hiding that from customers. 100 Manat is by the way the price for a full night there. So when I wanted to pay a woman in the lobby tells me „only cash“. I said I dont have cash and after calling around she says I can pay by card tomorrow. I was wondering if its worth reporting this behavior of the hotel anywhere.
Maybe I just got unlucky but it feels very scammy here, the city seems beautiful and I just think it gives a bad view for Tourists.

If anyone can give me some advice or tell me if its normal id appreciatex.

Tarix | History 🇰🇿🇦🇿 Kazakhstan & Azerbaijan: A Shared History — Part 1

Post image
16 Upvotes

I grew up in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijani people and culture have been part of my everyday life for as long as I can remember.

When I was a child, I regularly encountered Azerbaijani families working in local markets and businesses. One place I especially remember was the market near Alatau shopping center on Ryskulov Avenue, below what was then Sofia Kovalevskaya Street (now Tlendiev Avenue).

From around 2012, I remember Azerbaijani sellers there offering some of the best fruit and vegetables I could find in Almaty. They gradually became places where my family and other people from the city regularly bought food.

Then there was an Azerbaijani man who started selling grilled chicken around 2014. It cost about 1,000 tenge at the time. My classmates and I would buy his juicy grilled chicken with flatbread and sauce, and I would also buy it with my family. I still remember how good it tasted.

Around 2010, I also remember Azerbaijani restaurants and cafés appearing in the city. They served kebabs, grilled meat and vegetables. Azerbaijani barbecue became one of those foods that, in my experience, many people around me genuinely loved.

Another thing I remember very clearly is Azerbaijani bread.

There was a shop that produced huge quantities of fresh flatbread. When someone brought several loaves onto a city bus, the smell would spread through the whole bus. It was almost impossible not to become hungry and think, “I should buy ten of these.” 😄

I also love Azerbaijani grape and pomegranate juice.

But for me, this connection wasn't only about food.

I studied at School No. 114 in Almaty, and Azerbaijani students were part of my school life. In September 2016, an Azerbaijani boy transferred to my school. I remember him as a very strong and resilient person, and another Azerbaijani student showed us hundreds of sports certificates and awards.

There were also many Azerbaijani students at my school who took part in cultural events. I remember them performing the lezginka at a school concert in 2014. They were energetic, confident and proud of their culture.

I remember Azerbaijani classmates greeting me with a strong handshake and showing respect toward Kazakh students. Azerbaijani girls I knew were also active in our Russian-speaking classes and sometimes served as class representatives.

Today, I still know Azerbaijani families living around the streets of Magadanskaya, Bokeeva, Kuderina, Akhrimenko and neighboring streets in my part of Almaty. There is also a local shop called Elnur near my school where Azerbaijani people work.

These are small everyday things, but they are exactly why Azerbaijani culture never felt foreign to me. It was simply part of the Almaty I grew up in.

I also remember celebrating Nauryz and Muslim holidays together with people around me. I have always respected the Azerbaijani religious and cultural traditions I encountered, including the fact that Azerbaijani communities in Kazakhstan include Shia Muslims as well as people with other religious identities.

A much older history

My personal memories are only one small part of a much longer story.

According to census data, only 46 Azerbaijanis were recorded as living in Kazakhstan in 1926. By the 1939 census, the number had reached 12,996. It continued to grow during the Soviet period:

1959 — 38,362

1970 — 56,166

1979 — 73,345

1989 — 90,083

1999 — 78,325

2009 — 85,292

The history behind this growth was complicated. Azerbaijanis came to Kazakhstan through different processes, including labor migration, education, professional assignments and forced migration during the Soviet period. Historical sources document that in 1937, more than 2,400 families of Iranians, Azerbaijanis, Kurds and Armenians were deported from Azerbaijan and Armenia to southern Kazakhstan, the Dzhambul region and the Almaty region.

Other Azerbaijani families arrived through later Soviet labor migration. During the 1950s–1980s, Azerbaijanis came to Kazakhstan for work, including construction, industry, mining and the development of new industrial areas.

So when I look at the Azerbaijani community around me today, I don't see only a recent immigrant community. I see several generations of people whose families became part of Kazakhstan.

In independent Kazakhstan, Azerbaijani cultural life also developed institutionally. The Azerbaijani cultural center “Turan” has operated in Almaty since May 29, 1992, and Azerbaijani cultural organizations exist in different regions of Kazakhstan.

The Embassy of Azerbaijan currently lists five centers in Kazakhstan dedicated to studying Azerbaijani history and culture, including a Center for the History and Culture of Azerbaijan at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty.

What Azerbaijan means to me

For me, all of this history is connected to very ordinary memories: school, markets, buses, bread, grilled chicken, juice, classmates and neighbors.

And one of my favorite memories happened when I turned 18.

I could have received almost any present from my best friend.

Instead, he gave me Azerbaijani barbecue with onion rings.

It sounds like a small thing, but I remember it as one of the most meaningful presents I have ever received, because Azerbaijani food and culture had already been part of my life for so many years.

That is why, when I think about Azerbaijan, I don't only think about a country on the other side of the Caspian Sea.

I think about my childhood in Almaty.

Thank you to the Azerbaijani people who became part of my city, my school years and my memories. 🇰🇿❤️🇦🇿

For Azerbaijanis here: what parts of the history of Azerbaijanis in Kazakhstan do you think are least known in Azerbaijan itself?

Sual | Question US VPN access blocked.. Any way to get around it?

I've tried both Nord VPN and Proton VPN (both paid subscriptions) to connect to VPNs in the United States. I'm from the US and need to log into US websites to pay bills and such. Neither of those VPNs work in this country to log into a US server.

The US sites block me from their websites because I'm in Azerbaijan... Azerbaijan blocks me from using US VPNs. Completely garbage situation.

Is there any way around this? I'm able use the VPN servers in the European countries but that's of no help. I need the US VPN servers. Maybe someone knows of a different VPN where they're able to use US servers? Or any way around this?
