Look what I made! My newest free-to-build handwired keyboard, the Scotto26!

This is my new handwired keyboard release called the Scotto26 that is a 3x4 layout that I think is fairly intuitive to use. You simply use combos to get the keys on the missing inner column which results in minimal re-learning of muscle memory. I was able to get about 50 words per minute within a few minutes of using it and since it's Colemak, I don't rely too much on the combos anyway due to that weighting around home row.

The files are available for free and I have a video about it on my YouTube channel.

Disclaimer: I've been told RP2040 is fine here since it can be programmed with the Arduino IDE, that said you could also just swap out the boards for an actual Arduino if you wanted.

Did you have to tweak the combo timing much to avoid getting D when typing "st" quickly, or did that feel natural straight away?

I had the opposite issue with combos not always registering. I ended up actually lowering it to 30ms from the default 40ms which feels pretty good.
