So, has Arduino entered the arena to go head-to-head with raspberry pi? I haven't really been following closely since Qualcomm took them over. This seems Way beyond a simple microcontroller.

indeed. it doesn't have rpi level performance, but a dual brain architecture is real good.

Yeah. Uno Q is the entry level of their new Q series. Ventuno comes out in about a month and will smoke a Pi 5 when it comes to specs and price. I think this one is meant to compete with a Pi Zero 2w while the Ventuno is meant to compete with Pi 5. If it can actually compete, though? We will see.

One lesson from running ESP32 nodes in production: add a hardware watchdog in addition to the software one. I had a node lock up in a way that the software watchdog didn't catch, and it stayed offline for a week before I noticed.
