Look what I made! DIY Aura Light that Mogs

It cost $20 to build and I wanted to share it with the community since it plays nicely with the ecosystem we all love.

The Concept: It’s a rugged, USB-C powered ARGB light using WLED. But unlike standard setups, it bridges two worlds:

Home Assistant Integration: Full native support via WLED. You can trigger scenes based on your sensors, time of day, or media state.

PC Screen Mirroring: My companion app samples custom regions on your desktop output and maps the color palette to the lights in real-time. Think Philips Hue Play lighting, but open-source and portable.

Why this matters: Most smart lighting is stuck to the wall. This is designed to be grabbed and taken anywhere—bedside, desk, car, or camping.

Tech Stack:

Firmware: WLED (ESP32 based)

Software: Companion App for PC mirroring + WLED for home assistant control

Your post was removed since it doesn't grow or support r/arduino, but only your own external community.

There is nothing useful there but referral based links. the github link is not real.

Please don't just post content to promote your own external channel - if you link a video from an external channel, describe the project properly and answer questions here in the sub, rather than simply directing people to your own site.

You are welcome to post publicly on this forum but please leave out the invitations for discord, DM and other off site stuff out of your posts.

As for going private there is zero benefit as you lose the opportunity for getting peer reviews. Also we have had plenty of people return after going private (despite being warned) complaining about how they were ghosted after some time or being tricked into buying rubbish that didn't work and even if it did they didn't need.

As I said there is zero benefit to going private and plenty of benefit for not attempting to do so.
