USAP Travel

While in New Zealand do you have free time to explore a little before our ice flight? Or what do they have you doing?

You have a few virtual meetings and then a half day spent at the CDC (clothing distribution center) and the rest of your 3 days in CHC are free to do whatever you please! If your ice flight gets delayed, you'll have that time as free time too. Find other ice people during your travels into town were not very hard to spot! Also, you'll likely be taking a shuttle with them or walking over to the hotel with them. Keep in mind that if you're placed at a hotel near the airport, you're gonna have about a 30 min bus ride to get to the city center.

Go to the Antarctic centre and sit in the cold room to acclimatise. Or go into town.

You’ll have at least a couple free days in Christchurch. Try and befriend people and get into some group chats, people see the sights together a lot.

Virtual Meetings and Digital Trainings once you arrive in Christchurch. You will also spend a little bit of time at the Clothing Distribution Center (CDC) getting all your ECW and smartcard and whatnot. You will probably not have time to get out of Christchurch unless there are significant delays, but go to the Botanical Garden, enjoy really good food, and walk around the city. Go to the Antarctic Center and the museums, they have some really good exhibits!
