I find it interesting that the Mirror is claiming that Professor Holland - who made spurious claims last year about a signal that was going to be sent and never did - is considered a “prominent researcher” when in fact he has a YouTube channel with like less then 10k viewers.
Could you find no other actual researchers? What makes this claim credible at all? Who are his sources? We removed a post about this last week and the Mirror turned this into an article. Does someone have an agenda?
You’d think the media would have some responsibility to actually help us understand who his source is right? And why this source is telling a minor figure in ufology about a major geopolitical certainty?
As a moderator here, I’m saying that if the Mirror would like to continue to post here, that they make a response as we have a responsibility to our community here. Look for yourself at the response to this post.

I don't know why reading this was such an "a-ha" moment for me, but I'm genuinely delighted to see this. Like the Mirror can clearly self-publish their content, but yeah... I 100% applaud asking them to back some of this up for the ability to invade spaces to amplify their content.

Where else have you heard of this person? In what ways has he published articles, provided research or even written books? Have you ever heard him speak or be in the company of other prominent researchers? Has he been part of leading conferences? Has he been invited to speak at events such as Sol or other conferences? When I think of “prominent researcher” I think of Richard Dolan. Do you think this person is a prominent researcher? The person isn’t even a professor he just calls himself one. Do you think that helps the discourse?

Same here, got really rabbit holed with a few cases, such as Rendlesham forest. Watching all of the Secure Team 10 YouTube channel videos back in the day (still the very occasional ones today), shout out to Tyler! There does seem to be a commercial element to it all now and the hype is driving that. I just hope that we do eventually get the full truth, even if it isnt what we want, at least we will know.

"Professor" Simon Holland, who in fact is not a Professor in any official or formally recognized capacity, is making this claim. His area of expertise? Film making and media.
In the article, he is quoted to say that they have established communications with aliens around a planet over 20 lightyears away via quantum tunneling technology, explaining that quantum tunneling allows signals to pass instantaneously across media. Except that's not what quantum tunneling is. At all. He appears to be thinking of wavefunction collapse of entangled particles as a means to transmit information, but this also fundamentally does not work even if you could somehow establish a pair of entangled particles so far apart.

Even though this is a real article published by The Mirror US, the actual "source" behind the headline is completely unverified. If you look past the sensationalized title, the entire piece is based on the personal speculations of a single independent UFO blogger and hobbyist (Simon Holland).

1) On a scale of 1 to 10, the Daily Mirror scores around a 4 out of 10 for factual reliability and journalistic credibility.
2) While it is a major national publication in the UK, it is categorized as a sensationalist tabloid. Independent media watchdogs and public trust surveys consistently rank it near the bottom of mainstream British news outlets. [1, 2, 3]
And while Professor Holland, the expert sighted in the article may be a fun humorist and has made films for the BBC and NASA he is not actually a professor and does not have PhD. That doesn't mean what he says is wrong. It's just the professor moniker is a more informal term, in this case.
The article claims the professor claims that Russian is in contact with aliens, and has sent and received signals. Russia, however is unable to translate the received communication.
He also talks about quantum tunneling for faster than light communication. I have not verified if this is being used in any practical way by China, Russia or the UK. Maybe the US has it? Or maybe not.
Fun article!. Not sure I believe everything in it though.

Considering the age and size of the universe, the possibility of intelligent life in another planet/s is absolute. UFO/alien sightings are all a hoax and have been proved to be fake. Why? Who knows, maybe some sort of distraction/ misdirection or just entertainment. The Mirror is a hack newspaper. It’s more like a comic than a trusted source of news.
