Help/Question How do i do big world edit commands without crashing the server?

I'm looking to limit the amount of some ores that spawn in the world in my 10,000 x 10,000 world border (5,000 blocks in each cardinal direction) The reason I'm doing this in world edit instead of a plugin or data pack is because I am using terralift in my server, so if i add a data pack/plugin to get rid of ores, it wont work because terralift changed the vanilla underground code.

My server has 12GB of ram. I know that I cant do the entire border in one go because that will crash the server, so how do I safely do this in chunks? If anyone knows, please leave all the world edit commands down below.

Have you tried FAWE (FastAsyncWorldedit)?

Fast Async World Edit. Async means not using the same CPU thread as the main server. So instead of lagging your entire world it uses a diffrent thread.

Technically you can select your whole worldborder and not get it to crash, you'll just have to wait like 20 hours. You'll be better off with an MCA editor.

Of course if your worldborder is only like 2k it might be fine.

same commands, never tested an entire world but it might work I guess, instead of trying to do everything at once it spreads it out over time, so if it did work it would take a while

A fork of WorldEdit that breaks up operations into smaller pieces and puts them on separate threads, so they can complete in parallel without blocking the main thread.

so can i select my entire world border and get rid of some ores and be fine? no crashing? is it different commands than regular world edit?

In theory it would work, yes, though I've never personally tested it with a region that large. The commands are the same, but it also adds additional commands that start with /fawe.

You can try it, but I don't recommend a selection that large. But disable the 'undo' feature first. Should try smaller regions first.

Is it actually crashing (process dies) or freezing and getting watchdog-killed? Also what are you using, vanilla WorldEdit or FAWE? The fix is pretty different depending on which one it is.

I advice using Axiom or FAWE over worldedit. But both of them will be effective in the loaded areas I think, so you cant just delete the ores in a 10kx10k area with one command
