Well, I just discovered all the Alnaturas around town are closed.

✅ Yes, I've been busy

✅ Yes, I realize the fact I'm just noticing might be why

🥲 Still. I really liked them for a lot of stuff.

Change sucks.

🖖 RIP Beloved store I only occasionally shopped in

ihaveaquestion Board Game Clubs (coop/campaign games)?

I was looking to find an English-speaking board gaming community/group in the city and I'm not sure which resource is the best. It's also not easy to get an overview of when all events take place, since some are on Meetup.com pages and others in Discord servers.

I mostly play heavier campaign/cooperative games (Frosthaven, Arydia, Middara), not really into competitive (at most semi-coop like Nemesis). Many of the board game groups seem to be more focused on lighter/party games with more focus on social meetups/networking.

The "Zurich Board Games Meetup Group" seems to have the largest membership, but also seems to just be an umbrella for other groups like "Zurich Fun Gamers" or stores like Kaboom and DuBischDra. Then I also saw "Swiss Gamers Unplugged" but their discord seems pretty quiet.

It's not clear which events allow you to bring your own games, but with heavier games maybe it's better to have a dedicated private group anyway?

Any suggestions?

ihaveaquestion Where can I advertise a flat for rent in Zurich besides Flatfox, ImmoScout and Comparis?

Hi all, I'm looking for a new tenant for my flat in Wipkingen and I've already listed it on Flatfox and Comparis. Are there other platforms, groups or channels you'd recommend to reach more people ?
I have only a month to find a new tenant and I don’t think I reach out for all the interested people so far.

ihaveaquestion Invisalign treatment - Germany

Hello everyone!

I live in Zurich and I'm considering starting an orthodontic treatment to straighten my teeth. Has anyone here had a treatment in Germany near the border and could recommend a good orthodontist?

I am Italian and initially I was considering doing it in Italy. I've asked for some quotes in Milan, where my case was classified as "moderate" (around 20 sets of aligners), with a total cost of approximately 4700 €

Since Milan is a bit too far for regular check-ups, I'm considering looking for a dentist in a German city close to the Swiss border. Thank you in advance!

news Bike rental in Zürich

Living in Zürich since 9years and had a super sh*t bike till it got stolen..
Was looking for a new bike, and I just wanted to share a great experience I had with SwitchBike.ch (no this isn’t a promotional post haha, just an appreciation post)
For anyone who wants to rent a cool bike for 1 month or more, the bikes are dope, the repairs are included and made on spot if needed; and the price is very attractive - paying 29.- a month for a comfy Amsterdam style bike.
I wish I knew about it earlier and wanted to share it with every new-comer in ZH

lookingfor Looking for people to start a Punk / Nu Metal / Hip-Hop band – Zürich / Zürcher Oberland

Hey, I’m Jordi, 19, from the Zürcher Oberland and I’m looking for some people around my age to start a band with.

I’ve been making hip-hop/beats for a while and played drums for several years. I’m currently starting out on bass, so I’m definitely still a beginner on the instrument..

Sound-wise I’m thinking somewhere around punk, nu metal and hip-hop, with bands like Limp Bizkit and South Arcade being two big references. But I don’t want to decide the whole sound before the band even exists lol. I’m very open to everyone bringing their own influences and seeing what comes out of it.

Currently looking for a:

– singer (m/f/d)
– guitarist (m/f/d)
– drummer (m/f/d)

Singing/rap or a mix would all be cool for vocals.

Lyrics would probably be mostly English, but German is absolutely possible too, so both German and English speakers are welcome.

You definitely don’t have to be a pro. I’m not one either. Mainly looking for people who get along, want to write our own stuff, jam regularly and improve together.

I don’t have a rehearsal room yet, so if anyone already has access to one that would be amazing. Otherwise we can figure something out together.

Gone to the Dogs is the current idea for the band name, but that’s not set in stone either.

Preferably Zürcher Oberland, but anywhere around Zürich works.

If this sounds like something you’d be into, just send me a DM. We can chat and exchange some music :)

ihaveaquestion Frage wegen Putzhilfe - Erfahrungen beim Aufräumen

Hello! In general how difficult is it to find an apartment in Zurich? I’m moving there from November, and I was wondering if I should start applying remotely or find something once I’m there.

Range: 2500-3500 per month for at least 1 bedroom 1 living room

Also, which neighbourhoods are the best for expats?

Thank you!

shitpost I built a WhatsApp bot that reminds you of your trash calendar

I'm always the one guy on the street who forgets the paper collection. Everyone else has their bundles out and I find out when the truck is already gone.

Our Gemeinde has the dates in some PDF and I never look at it. Tried calendar reminders but the dates move around holidays and I never kept it updated. So I made a free WhatsApp bot.

Give it your postal code, pick what you want reminders for (trash, paper, cardboard, green waste etc) and then it just messages you the evening before. Thats it.

It works with a few towns so far and I'm continuously adding more. It just takes some time. If your town isnt covered you can still send your postal code, it saves it and lets you know when your town gets added. I'll do the ones with the most requests first.

Link: www.entsorgii.ch

Would be cool if some of you try it and tell me if something doesnt work or is confusing. Its free and I dont make any money with it, just a side project thats why the mods approved it.

EDIT: I know there is a app from ERZ, but thats only if you live in Zürich. This also works outside of the city

ihaveaquestion Motorcycle insurance and how does buying a new motorcycle work?

I am trying to buy a new motorcycle in Zurich, and the dealer told me that I need to have motorcycle insurance in place before they can register the bike with the Strassenverkehrsamt and get the number plate.

The confusing part is that websites like Comparis or direct wesbites from insurers ask me to enter the motorcycle’s license plate number.

But I obviously don’t have a plate number yet because I haven’t bought/registered the motorcycle.

So what is the correct procedure here? Any advice from someone who has recently bought a motorcycle or works in a dealrship or insurance company would be very helpful 🙏🏻

ihaveaquestion IR75 between Luzern to Zurich. Thalwil stop removed?

I noticed that the slower interreggio train from Luzern to Zurich got 3 minutes faster. 47 minutes instead of 50 minutes. I then decided to look at the stops and I no longer see Thalwil. I’m 90% sure it used to stop in Thalwil.

Anyone else notice this? For me it’s only a benefit because I can get between Luzern and Zurich a bit faster, when I take this train. But this must suck for certain people who live or work in Thalwil.

Salt's visual pollution - is it even effective? NSFW

Post image
155 Upvotes

I am quite surprised this is allowed. Even if it is, then both parties (ZVV and Salt) think this is tasteful and fits Zürich.

But rather interested: is this kind of advertising actually effective? I would love to see conversion rates.

My bünzli self is quite close to ask ZVV directly about this monstrosity.

ihaveaquestion quick question about Karton und Papier

do those medium thick, somewhat glossy postcards/brochures/business cards (not laminated) also count as cardboard? must the windows of the envelopes be removed too? can the twine (Schnur) with which everything is bundled together be of synthetic material?

i guess if it's sticky or scratch-off it also goes directly into the zuri-sack, right?
