Events After work Beers in Yokohama - Tuesday, September 8, 2026 - 18:00 to 22:00(or later)

After a huge turnout last week with about 16 people! A casual meetup for beer/drinks/food and conversation. All are welcome!

Bit about myself, I'm 33M American and enjoy beer(obviously), motorcycles, skiing, camping, whitewater rafting, board/card/video games, cycling, diving, and just about everything(especially if it involves wheels or water).

Most times we have been at the first standing table when you go outside to the covered patio area. I will try to post where when I arrive. If its too hot though I will get a spot inside.

All are welcome, even if you don't drink feel free to come hangout! If you are nervous about showing up please let me know and I can meet you outside first, I know it can be a bit daunting walking into a group of strangers for the first time.

Events Yokohama Chill Club Discord Server

Sharing again in case anyone is interested!

A few months ago, I created a small Discord server called Yokohama Chill Club for people around Yokohama who are interested in meeting new people and making local friends.

We've started having some weekly and monthly meetups, such as bar hangouts and board game meetups and we'd like to organize more activities as the server grows 🙌

We're also hoping to organize some Japanese–English language exchange meetups in the future. So if you're a Japanese native speaker or Japanese speaker who wants to practice English, meet international people and make friends, you're very welcome to join. English speakers interested in practicing Japanese are welcome too.

The server is mixed-gender and pretty low-pressure. You don't have to attend every meetup or be super active.

If you'd like to join, feel free to DM me for an invite. I'm not posting the link publicly to avoid bots and spam joining the server!

Events Yokohama Discord for Friends & Meetups

A few months ago, I created a small Discord server called Yokohama Chill Club for people around Yokohama who are interested in meeting new people and making local friends.

I'm posting about it again in case there are more people here who might be interested in joining.

It's a place where people can chat, share hobbies and interests, make new friends and organize or join casual meetups around Yokohama. There is no pressure to attend every meetup or be active every day, you can use the server mainly to find or organize events or simply chat and get to know people.

We've already started organizing things like dinners, board game meetups and other activities. And members are welcome to suggest their own ideas as well!

I won't post the invite link publicly, as I'm trying to avoid spam bots joining the server since this is a public subreddit.

If you'd like to join, please send me a DM asking for the invite link and I'll send it to you. I have a limit on how many DMs I can send per day, so unfortunately I can't message everyone who comments on the post. If you're interested, it's better to DM me directly rather than just leaving a comment.

If you're around Yokohama and looking for a local community, feel free to join! 😊

Events Looking for international sports communities in Yokohama — badminton, pickleball, or running

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for sports communities in or around Yokohama, especially badminton, pickleball, or running.

I’m not really looking for language exchange or “international networking” events. I’m looking for actual sports groups where Japanese and non-Japanese people regularly play together, and where English naturally gets used during the activity.

Ideally, I’d like something that meets regularly and has a stable group of people, rather than a one-off event.

Areas around Yokohama, Tsurumi, Kawasaki, Kamakura, Ofuna, or Fujisawa would all work for me.

If you’re a foreign resident in the area, where do you actually go to play sports regularly?
Facebook groups, LINE groups, local clubs, anything is welcome.

Thanks!

Events Yokohama Chill Club

EDIT: Reddit only lets me send 3 chat requests per day, so I won't be able to message everyone who commented on my previous post. If you commented and didn't receive a DM from me, that's why. Feel free to send me a message first and I'll send you the server invite.

First of all, I hope this post is okay. I reached out to the subreddit moderators to ask for permission before posting but haven't heard back yet. If this kind of post isn't allowed, I completely understand and apologize in advance, please feel free to remove it.

Yesterday, I made this post about trying to find (or create) a local community around Yokohama:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Yokohama/comments/1us9d6k/anyone_interested_in_starting_a_local_community/

I was honestly surprised by how many people were interested, so I decided to create a small Discord server called Yokohama Chill Club.

The idea is this: a mixed-gender community for people who'd like to meet others around Yokohama, organize casual meetups and hopefully make some local friends along the way. Whether that's grabbing coffee, having lunch, attending events, going for walks, checking out cafés, karaoke, board games or just suggesting something you've been wanting to do, the server is there to make it easier to connect with people nearby.

A few things about the server:

- The goal is to keep it a friendly and welcoming space where everyone treats each other with respect.

- There are channels for introductions, general chat, hobbies and planning meetups but everything is completely optional.

If you'd like to get to know people a bit before meeting in person, you're welcome to join the conversations.

On the other hand, if you'd rather just use the server to find or organize meetups, that's perfectly fine too.

There is no pressure to attend every meetup (or any meetup at all). Just join the ones that interest you whenever you're free.

I'm not posting the invite link here since this subreddit is public and I'd like to avoid spam bots joining the server.

If you'd like to join, send me a DM and I'll send you the invite link. I'll also be messaging everyone who expressed interest in a Discord server on my previous post or in my DMs.

When you join, the server will ask how you found it. I'd really appreciate it if you could include your Reddit username. It'll just help me match your Discord account with your message and know where everyone is joining from while the community is still getting started.

Hopefully this can become a nice local community where people can meet up whenever they feel like it!

I'm looking for people who'd like to come check it out! I have a bunch of invite tickets to hand out which means entry is free🥳

The groups name is ZIGA. Tokyo-based underground rock-idol group.

This concert will be a bandset, so there will be a supporting band alongside the group.

Feel free to contact me here through DM/reply or alternatively just show up on the day. I'm planning to wear either a pink suit or other pink outfit so I'll be easily recognizable and will be outside the venue from around 16:00 to hang out and hand out tickets.

Events Sakura Picnic Spots in/near Yokohama? Looking for places where cherry blossoms are already blooming this weekend! 🌸

Hello r/Yokohama!

It’s finally spring here, and the sakura season is upon us—super excited! 🌸

We’re planning a family picnic this weekend with the kids and would love to find some beautiful spots where the cherry blossoms are already in bloom (or close to it).

We’re based in Yokohama, so preferably places in Kanagawa/Yokohama area or easy to reach by train from here.

Bonus points for family-friendly locations with space to spread out a picnic blanket, maybe some shade or nearby facilities.

From what I’ve seen online, Yokohama’s peak seems to be late March/early April this year, but some early-blooming varieties or spots in Tokyo might already be showing color.

Any recommendations for current blooming locations? Places like:

• Ooka River

• Mitsuike Park

• Negishi Forest Park

• Sankeien Garden

• Or even quick trips to nearby Tokyo spots if they’re ahead?

Thanks so much in advance for any tips or recent photos/updates—really appreciate it! 😊

Have a great hanami season everyone!

Events Yokosuka Fireworks Cancelled

Just in case anyone was thinking of going. The city just posted this.

Notice of Cancellation of the Yokosuka Opening of Japan Fireworks Festival 2025

We received notice from the U.S. Navy Yokosuka Base that the “Japan–U.S. Friendship Day 2025,” which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 5, will be cancelled due to the shutdown of U.S. government agencies.

As a result, after discussions with the police and other related organizations, the Yokosuka City Tourist Association (the organizer) and Yokosuka City (the co-organizer) have judged that it is not possible to safely hold the “Yokosuka Opening of Japan Fireworks Festival 2025,” and therefore we regret to inform you that the event must be cancelled.

According to the security plan, the expected number of visitors to the festival was about 190,000, of which about half were anticipated to view from within the U.S. Navy Yokosuka Base. After receiving the notification from the base, we also examined other possible viewing locations, but could not secure a site of this scale, leading to the decision to cancel.

We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the fireworks festival.

Refunds will be made for general sponsorship viewing tickets. Details will be announced from tomorrow onwards on the official festival website (https://yokosuka-hanabi.com/).

The Mayor’s comment regarding this cancellation is as follows:

[Mayor’s Comment] In order to ensure safe viewing, we considered alternative sites and continued consultations with the police station and security companies. However, due to concerns about possible crowd accidents and the assessment that the area around the venue would become extremely dangerous, we made the painful decision to cancel the event.

The Yokosuka Opening of Japan Fireworks Festival is the largest fireworks festival not only in Yokosuka but across the Miura Peninsula, and I am filled with deep regret for the disappointment caused to everyone who was looking forward to it.

Events Walk and talk around Yokohama

Hey everyone 👋 A few of us are going for a relaxed autumn walk around Yokohama next Saturday (Nov 15) — starting near Yokohama Station, passing through Bay Quarter → Minato Mirai → Harbor Park. It’s a small, friendly get-together — more like a weekend walk. 🌿 We’ll enjoy the harbor views, chat along the way, and after the walk, probably sit in the park for a little English–Japanese language exchange ☕🗣️ If you’re around Yokohama and want to join for a nice walk and some easy conversation, feel free to come along 🚶‍♀️🍁

Events [Feb 15] Sunday Night Comedy in Ebisu (Direct train from Yokohama!) | 横浜から一本!英語と日本語の即興コントライブ

Hello r/Yokohama

I know the struggle of debating whether to head into Tokyo on a Sunday night, but if you're looking for a fun plan that doesn't involve 3 transfers or navigating Shinjuku Station, I wanted to invite you to our show in Ebisu!

I run the Pirates of Tokyo Bay, and we’re hosting our monthly Bilingual Improv Comedy show right near Ebisu Station. Since Ebisu is a direct shot from Yokohama Station via the Toyoko Line (F-Liner is fast!) or the Shonan-Shinjuku Line, it’s arguably the easiest Tokyo night out for us Yokohama folks.

Why it’s worth the trip:

  • The Show: It’s short-form improv (like Whose Line Is It Anyway?) performed in English and Japanese. It’s fast, visual, and highly interactive.
  • The Theme: Since it's the day after Valentine's, we're doing a "Love & Laughs" special. Bring a date, or come laugh at our awkward dating stories.
  • The Venue: What the Dickens (4F) is a classic British pub with great pies, fish & chips, and live music energy.
  • The Deal: ¥2,500 includes your 1st drink free. 🍺

Details:
📅 Date: Sunday, Feb 15th
🕖 Time: 19:30 START (Doors open 19:00 - plenty of time to grab food)
📍 Place: What the Dickens, Ebisu (4F)
🎟️ Tickets: Link to Tickets

The show ends around 21:30, so you'll have absolutely no stress catching the train back to Yokohama. I'll be performing, so if you come through, come say hi!
