Help English-speaking pest control for a wasp/bee nest in Yokohama?

Hi everyone!
I’m a foreign resident living in Yokohama and I just discovered a bee/wasp nest on my apartment balcony.

I don’t speak Japanese well, so I’m looking for a reliable pest control service in Yokohama that can communicate in English.

Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation and can recommend a company/person?

Thank you in advance!

That’s like finding a needle in a haystack

On google maps, look up "pest killer", find the closest one to you (I saw a bunch in Yokohama), and show them a picture of the nest on your balcony. They'll know what to do! Maybe get a few words written/translated before going?

That’s a big nest. I wouldn’t want to mess with that…

I used this guy. https://hachi-kujo.com

He came the same day since he was in my area but I suppose it depends on how busy he is. I don’t think he speaks English(husband handled it since I was out), but he took care of it quickly. 2nd floor of our house under the eaves. Even caught a nest we didn’t see on a different part of the house so he was thorough.

Still don’t know why your apartment manager wouldn’t handle that though. You could also maybe wait for the typhoon to help take some of them out 🤣

Call your apartment management first, it's probably their responsbility.

They told me it’s not their responsibility 😅

How big is it? The easiest way to get rid of it is to pour some kerosene (or gasoline) in a plastic bag (one that does not melt with kerosene) and cover the nest completely with the bag. Basically let the kerosene evaporate and let the critters breathe it in. In a few minutes they are all dead…. I used a butterfly catching nest thing kids use as a support for the bag and to reach the nest/hive safely.

I got rid of one of them recently. People gave me some valuable tips which helped me grow confidence that I could do it on my own. Good luck.

You might as well get rid of it by yourself. I would recommend the "Hachi Abu Magnum Jet" (550ml) from Earth Cooperation which costs around 1340yen. Don't forget to prepare yourself with gloves, garbage bags, broomstick etc before spraying 'em. https://www.earth.jp/en/products/hachiabumagnum-550/index.html

Just use a normal one and Google translate, the reliance on English speaking services is a slave mentality that will cripple your life here

Contact city hall, they will remove it for free if its a スズメバチ nest.
