Utah Jazz Training Camp Notebook: Jusuf Nurkić is Back, Brice Sensabaugh Earns Praise

Everybody has been saying great things about the work that Brice has put in this summer. I'm excited to see the result on the court. Hopefully Brice and the Jazz can reach a good deal on an extension for his contract.

It's a make or break year for Brice, so I am glad he put in the work. I still think it's going to be difficult for him to get a lot of playing time with new additions, unless his defense has vastly improved.

Brice is an exceptional scorer. Last season he showed improvement in using the threat of his shot to drive into the lane and get fouled or make floaters. After slimming down and getting in better shape, hopefully he shows improved defense as well.

I wouldn't say it would be difficult for him to get minutes. I think Will Hardy will let him get lots of run in the first couple of weeks to see where he's at, then gradually apportion minutes to guys like Okogie and Tamar Bates to see their fit while Svi gets sporadic minutes. At SG, it will be DP, Ace, and Josh Green splitting minutes with Trey Alexander getting mop-up minutes in blowouts.

My guess is the Jazz will try to run everytime they have the ball since they have youth and bench depth on their side. This would mean more possessions and more attempts for everyone and any player who is on the court will be playing hard to maximize their contributions. After the All-Star break, the Jazz will start to shorten the rotation and be more deliberate in their executions in preparation for playoff-style basketball.

It will be Brice, Svi and maybe a couple others fighting for the 7th man minutes, or I hope so anyway with Ace taking the 6th man role.

Svi should edge out Brice on defense, it's up to Brice to be stellar on offense and good enough on defense to earn minutes.

That's my take anyway.
