I'm sorry, were those young Mexicans or were they US citizens enjoying a culture of their choice in a US park?

Maybe it shouldn't matter, but I'm tired of US citizens being labelled as from somewhere else because of their skin tone or cultural choices.

The US is a multicultural nation.  If the US used it intelligently, the US could use the military a lot less, and have a lot more actual influence in the world.

A quarter of the US was literally Mexico absorbed by the US. They were Mexicans then, and they are Mexicans now. Just so happens, they are also US Citizens!

The point is that the heritage and culture was there long before mexican independence and annexation
