It means they only speak Japanese. Not that only Japanese people are welcome. Interesting how you’re not aware.

You are confidently incorrect lol. Everyone gets the “you’re gaijen and you need to leave” X symbol when traveling through Japan. Not just at crowded or popular dinner spots either.

Japan is awesome and I‘m not at all sensitive to it but there is a LOT of racism happening in Japan

I’ve dined in some of those establishments lol. They just don’t speak anything but Japanese so don’t want to deal with you if you don’t also.
