it was barely Mexico... when Mexico was barely a nation. it was inherited by Mexico after Spain left but Mexico never tamed the land, never built anything, and didn't care much about it when it gave it away after losing a war.

yea it technically used to be Mexico, and it is not Mexico anymore. who's the ignorant one pretending like Mexico has any claim on that land today?

Land changes hands. It was Spain much longer, and land for various indigenous groups for much longer before that. Regardless, this bish’s “This isn’t Mexico” is some epic sad nationalist bullshit. She sure as hell doesn’t own it.

be real, if this was a one time thing, no one would complain. but there are tons of Mexican Americans and they totally change the culture of the area. it's normal for a non-Mexican person who got there before them who has a house there for generations to feel a little something about these new people. they're tired. you don't respect their homes, you try to change their homes. they're tired

You’re right the high school I attended in Northern California has gone from 50% Hispanic/Latino to 80% since I graduated roughly 10 years ago. The town is extremely different. Nearly all the shops downtown are Mexican owned, the mayor is Mexican… The immigration has been swift and the change is noticeable. People that argue that this isn’t a legitimate and meaningful demographic shift in the history of this country are wrong. I’m not saying it’s good or bad, I’m just saying.

Yes and no. I get what you’re saying, but those tired people aren’t considering anything but their own perspective—which is a typical behavior. It’s likely there was someone there before you, especially if you’re a descendant of a colonial power. If she’s tired then take a nap, but I think what she’s saying is this thing keeps happening and she doesn’t understand the cultural aspects. If she’s complaining because people in general are detracting from the enjoyment of others with constant camera setups then that’s a different issue. But she targeted them with the shallow “this isn’t Mexico” bullshit, just as you did with putting it on all those Mexican Americans “totally changing the culture of the area.”

news flash, Mexicans were brought into the USA to work as slaves because the ones in the USA died from disease too fast. go learn some basic Californian history. if they were in the USA before the whites, they were Mayan/Baja Californians that were forced to work for the Spanish as slaves. who the Spanish ditched after the independence and were then ditched again by Mexico after the war with USA.

You need to read some literature that is not on social media…
