The saddest part is men ignored all the nicer wording. The topic is “systemic violence against women and girls committed specifically and disproportionately by men.”
And men ignored that topic until they found a way to take personal offense at the phrasing used.
It became SO bad that women started warning other women “assume ALL men are dangerous because it’s safer. Then go from there once they prove otherwise”
That warning is for safety. Because MEN. Including most of the good men, ignored the topic!!
What kind of society is overrun by men that ignore such a topic until they find a way to take personal offense at a phrasing meant specifically to keep women and girls safer, and to highlight how men only pay attention when they can find a way to personalize it?
The fact is that the the majority of men didn't ignore the nicer wording as evidenced by the laws and social mores against general violence, sexual assault, and rape, especially those done against women.
The existence of a crime doesn't mean most men are in favor for it passively or proactively. The fact it is a legally and socially recognized crime means that most people - including most men - are already against it.
America is a narcissistic society, maybe many others too. Especially with modern media. This isn't something average people actually consider when speaking on social issues. You either include people's identity into a cause, or they are not a part of the solution.
Do you realize that this isn’t just an American issue? Women around the world are doing this. Some of the biggest cases that have actually faced prosecution were from other countries. Maybe you don’t pay attention to issues of violence against women and girls otherwise you’d probably already know this.

It’s because people are dumb. We live in an all or nothing society now. Nuance is gone and people only use black and white arguments.
TLDR: we’re fucked as a society
