Truly dont understand how victim blaming is worse than groping or revenge porn or safe word violations and actual threats.... also fucking stalking is that low??????

u/Novaer 3d ago

Because a woman being violated is "the norm" but a woman speaking up about that violation is an egregious assault on men so therefore they work extra hard to victim blame.

2

u/Cautious_Buy_8467 3d ago

its not "worse". its set up that way because a lot of the things lower on the pyramid fall under the category.

Yeah, you won’t understand it because you’re not a woman and you don’t know what it feels like to sit there and have people blame you for being attacked in that way. There are a few things that make me genuinely angry. This is one of them.

I am a fucking women wtf???

women are attacked for using experiences to be sexist. not for speaking out against their own abuse

I've gotten unsolicited nudes (friend) before and unwanted sexual touches. I'm a guy btw. Told I'm "lucky" or if you don't want to play pass the controller.

  1. Assuming the other commentor's gender just to make it seem like they have no say because you disagree with them is low. It wouldn't completely invalidate this perspective even if they weren't a woman. You could have challenged this view without bringing their gender into it. Also they ARE a woman so that "point" is moot. And just for the record, I am a woman.

  2. In my opinion, while horrible and should definitely be higher up on the pyramid, victim blaming should not be as high as it is. Those other mentioned acts are not only extremely invasive, traumatic, and degrading, but are also active assaults(physical or otherwise) on a woman's autonomy. Victim blaming is closer to degradation and normalization than assault.

If you have a genuine argument against my perspective I'd like to hear it, but don't just use the identity of someone you know nothing about to invalidate it.

Sounds like you've never had a stalker who's making threats to you, you genuinely piss me off

This is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

Believe it or not most men are not guilty, complicit, or enabling of the behaviors at the bottom of the pyramid either, and the assumption that they are is the fundamental problem with this entire discussion

22

u/Cautious_Buy_8467 3d ago

if you arent criticizing the men who are doing those things then you are complicit lol

-4

u/webernicke 3d ago

If anyone is going to police that behavior in their own gender when they do see it, it's more likely to be men

u/-Ragatha- 2d ago

and yet women are allowed to get away with child murder with millions of donations, people supporting her and even murdering their own children.

women avoid accountability far too much. and we're expected to blame men for "doing the same"

Everyone is a rapist but me

i highly highly doubt that 50% of men think "some women deserve it"
im sure the number is probably too high sure but like that is a ridiculous graph

-3

u/baywhlr 3d ago

I disagree. It hits differently if you replace 'some women deserve it' with 'she had it coming' There's slews of men who will agree withe latter but balk at agreeing with the former.

-4

u/Glittering-Dress7668 3d ago

You misunderstood the graph, it doesn't provide any accurate numerical statistic, it's just more of a moral palette for visual representation. Sure it does imply that there're more abusers than men generally think, but that's not the point

9

u/SyserQ 3d ago

Thats kinda my point, its a stupid comparison image because the top line IS meant to be a numerical count and it clearly is being compared to the one below that isnt

-1

u/Glittering-Dress7668 3d ago

I sort of agree, but at the same time I think it's just poorly made and not intentionally misinforming. When we look at it we immediatly see a statistic into it, but with some afterthought it's not impossible to separate the two (and get the intended message)

Honestly I still like it because I've never seen an other graph that illustrates this point (or one that does it better)

Women deserve. It can also be phrased as well. She should’ve known she was going to an unsafe place. Which if you look at the response to this story, I would say about 50% of the men responding or saying that type of thing

You’re one of the people this video and graph are talking btw ☺️

I know expecting reading from you guys is a lost cause but I'm going to give it a shot anyway, ready?

I know expecting reading from you is probably too much but I gave you a paragraph. Is it too much? Okay be a big boy and do your best to read the whole thing

Did you just try to use a fucking fallacy? Really?? In this conversation? The whole point of the video was saying that if you are whining in the comments about how it isn’t all men or to stop making men out to be violent then you are part of the problem. You don’t understand the problem and instead of listening to others you deny the fact that so many men have horrifically abused women and way too many men defend it or okay with it or in your case get upset when women talk about it. I know because you stated the “Kafkatrap” that no matter what I try to talk to you about you’ll just think that I am constantly attacking you which is no way to have a discussion as important as this. When I say you are one of the people in the video I am saying that when you see discussions of misogyny online you probably line up to say that it is not all men or you are one of the good ones when you stating that means you aren’t listening to the problem and you are only thinking about yourself in this situation. No one cares about how good you are. The conversation was never about you it was about cruel, sexist men and how women get treated by them. If someone calling out sexist men makes you feel personally attacked think about why. I hate when a woman talks about the absolute horror stories she’s had to live through and then some of the first comments you see is a man bitching and whining about how you have to believe that he is not like that. If you need to shout from the rooftops how you aren’t like that congratulations you’re like that. If you aren’t like that the conversation wasn’t about you and you would know that and not go into a comment section defending sexism and misogyny. All you have to do when a someone points something out about what women have to go through is say “wow that is such a hard thing to live with and I feel bad that women have to do deal with this.” THATS IT. The reason why women have basically zero faith in men is 1. y’all give them plenty of reason to and 2. You just can’t fucking sympathise or understand in the slightest all you care about in this situation is how you are perceived and not the bigger societal issues and abuse.

1

u/Fanfics 2d ago

Did you just try to use a fucking fallacy? Really?? In this conversation?

no see the whole problem here is that you tried to use a fallacy, that's how this whole things started. Try reading the wikipedia article again and see if it makes more sense the second time around. The critical part is the definition section, under the header "Noun"

If that doesn't work, try adding the word "Black" to every use of the word "man" in that bigass paragraph you wrote and see if things start to come together

0

u/hahahahahaha656 2d ago

Again YOU are the person this video is about. If you can’t understand that men oppress women and you are not being victimised when a woman talks about her oppression then you are part of the problem. I’ve also got an experiment for you. Every time you try to deny the fact that women are oppressed switch men with white people and women with black people and see how you sound

5

u/Martial_Arts_Demon 3d ago

Looks like very empirical data.

I'm sure you feel like it's true and that means more than any fact ever could.

2

u/AppointmentNaive2811 3d ago

I mean - one measures proportion of a population, one represents a scale of morality.

This is NOT a really useful infographic, because the juxtaposition compares incompatible things.

1

u/Funny_Lunch5211 3d ago

How has generalizing men worked out so far? I think ever since that, misogyny has increased on online platforms.

I wonder why people keep persisting on demonizing men for the action of a very few thinking it is going to change anything lol.

this also applies to women just as much. the lindsay clancy situation is so evident of women actively supporting child murderers

1

u/ManyPen6614 2d ago

Or if you go to r/AITA and see the response difference between men & women posters. Women are typically given the benefit of the doubt or the NTA verdicts. I remember once, someone did an experiment of posting two identical questions but they recieved different verdicts.

There was also an age/gender graph with responses as well. Which also differed.

Also the women are wonderful effect. if you have seen the research into this phenomena.
