Discussion This is a disaster waiting to happen.

The dog isn’t allowed to be around a toddler because he growls at her. I don’t get it. A family dog is supposed to get along with the whole family. Why are the parents concerned about why the dog “doesn’t like her”? What about the child’s safety?

Pits are also much more unlikely to be neutered and spayed than other dogs. Their owners love keeping them intact and breed the hell out of them which then fills our shelters. They then say adopt don’t shop when in reality a dog that is bought from a reputable breeder is much less likely to end up in a shelter. In the Netherlands most people purchase their dogs. They also have some of the lowest number of stray dogs and shelter dogs in the world.

I said it higher up but to your point pit bull owners themselves are a huge justification for eradicating the breed before even getting to the issues with the dogs. There’s so many other breeds that can serve any possible justification somebody would have for a pit bull and they won’t be a loose grenade with fur. There’s so many stories of pit bulls raised since a puppy in the same environment and family that just flip a switch inside and attack whatever is nearby. There’s too many examples of them escaping and killing for the fun of it and there’s too many examples of people knowing that and defending it.
