I was just watching "Five Days at Memorial", an Apple TV series about a hospital in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I was telling my wife that this was a monumental moment of national outrage against the Federal government in 2005, yet it wouldn't even be a blip in the news in 2026. Little did I know this was going on was I was saying that.

I read the book that was based on. It’s so grim, I can’t imagine they were able to show a good bit of what’s in the book.

The tv series is really well done, very grim like you said. The episode about the hurricane itself and the levee breaking was truly terrifying. They did focus somewhat on institutional failures and the failures on the state and national level more. They do go into the legal cases against the doctors and nurses too though, like the book.

Its worth watching imo

Thanks, I’ll definitely check it out! You should read the book if you’re a book person
