Discussion Arizona police violently tackled a woman onto a metal bike after she watched them from a public sidewalk
Like I know ideally you shouldn't try to insert yourself in an arrest, but c'mon wasn't this too much? Was the punch necessary? Like, (not that im surprised) the people defending them on X are sickening, with one saying he would have tased her... btw, with no much context to what happened asides from this. One person said it right: "People who support the police will justify them breaking into their house and killing their mother, so there really isn't much you can say to change their minds." This to me is just unnecessary abuse of power.

That's unlikely. Qualified immunity covers a lot of sins.
The best you can hope for with this is he gets an unpaid suspension and if he collects enough of them that he'll get fired.
She'd definitely got a good case for a settlement though. That's definitely excessive use of force.

It is wild how we’ve allowed standard police procedure to include beating the living shit out of people or even murdering them.
Way too often they investigate the cop’s actions and find “this falls within defined guidelines.” Any other first world country this is an instant firing.
Instead we offload cops’ responsibility onto insurance companies and taxpayers.
51
u/NYCMarine Jul 25 '26
And don’t EVER forget that some Republican lawmakers, the police and police Union all tried to blame the citizens who saw the death of George Floyd for “not jumping in and stopping” his death. Once they saw that narrative was going nowhere, it soon disappeared….

I'm american, and i get enraged by the corruption of basically all of our law enforcement agencies, and doubly so when smooth-brained mouth breathers with the reading comprehension of a blind rock go off about how i 'd change my tune if i needed cops. I've needed cops before. You know what happened? They made it way worse each time while carefully avoiding doing their actual job.

After sweeping her leg while holding both arms. There was no way for her to brace for impact. This is a massive lawsuit waiting to have it.
We need to move towards individual insurance for police officers, the department still pays the bill, but incidents and payout records follow the individual. It would make it allot harder for officers to just jump to another job if they get in trouble.
"Sorry Joe, we can't hire you, insurance says you were involved in 2 lawsuit payouts, this department just can't afford to pay your premium. "

And he purposefully steered her toward the bike knowing it would do more damage.
The big problem in the US is that the police can get away with this shit. If he gets fired, he is immediately hired by the next town. When I used to teach, I had to have a valid teaching certificate for each province I taught in. Without that certificate, I could not be employed as a teacher. The police need the same thing - if you do crap like this, you lose your license. No police license, no police job!

Here's something not getting enough attention: when they talk to the white guy (who they call the "victim") he says that they never even touched him. The cop continues to push the narrative that he was assaulted bc his pizzas got knocked to the ground. Bc they had to justify this use of force on what would have otherwise been normal late-night bullshit, where someone was a dick, his friend grabbed him and apologized to the guy, and everyone went about their business.

I downloaded it to go frame by frame, and cop #2 goes straight for her ass with his left hand as he comes in. It happens over the course of 45 frames, starting at 22:10. He feels from her ass down to her thigh. This contributed absolutely nothing towards restraining her.

That sounded crazy so i googled it. That number was from a small survey in 1990 that said 40% of police reported at least one incident of marital conflict involving physical aggression by either partner during their relationship.

"After being shoved back a second time, Bonner allegedly raised her fists and aggressively approached an officer in a fighting stance. When the officer tried to place her under arrest, both fell to the ground during the struggle. According to the arrest report, Bonner then struck the officer in the face five to six times while he was on top of her attempting to gain control. The officer responded by "striking Bonner once in the face" to stop the assault, allowing police to finally place her in handcuffs."
Yeah, that's not what the video shows. ACAB

Local media has a serious bias problem toward favoring the cops story, and they should pretty much never be taken seriously.
They usually just copy and paste department/union releases verbatim.
If a local outlet is critical of the police, they stop getting tips from them, which means always getting a scooped, so therefore they always bend the knee.
True free press is almost mythical.
Sadly, the vast majority of people will swallow the official story and never verify.

Literally none of that is true. Actually, him striking her in the face is true but literally nothing else plays out that way. Luckily there’s video otherwise I’m guessing this would just be taken as fact.

pushed her, tackled her, punched her in the face, pushed up her skirt to expose her, then grabbed and manipulated her bare legs before sitting on top of her ass while it was exposed.
they were very clearly getting off on beating and assaulting this woman. i’m disgusted, but not even remotely surprised.
if this is the type of shit cops do in public, imagine what they do in private.

They rape and sexually assault you:
another one who specifically worked in domestic violence
yet another who decided to kill himself rather than face justice
I’d be here all day if I kept posting and I’m not exaggerating

I recognize that officer. I work around town and see lots of officers come into my stores. Damn
Edit: guys this is one police officer out of hundreds that ive seen across the valley. And to clarify i probably shouldve used past tense "worked" instead of work. Also, its not fair to put my employees at risk like that, they depend on the safety the police department provides in rough areas.

We're witnessing a violent assault carried out by the state.
This needs documented.

Those cops are fucked:
In Cortesluna v. Leon (9th Cir. 2020), the federal court governing Arizona ruled that kneeling heavily on the back of a suspect who is already down or non-resisting constitutes excessive force.
Everything we witnessed is illegal on how these officers handled themselves.

The public is really getting to a tipping point on these paramilitary police tactics. The cops aren’t ready for what happens if they actually incite the mob.

Cops are saying she attacked first and they have body cam footage to prove it but that certainly isn’t what we see. I hope they release it so we can all see this maneuver that this video didn’t capture.
