Mike Bacsik needs to be gone by next season
I’m sorry but it’s true. He’s seems like a great guy but my god I can’t get over his announcing.
It’s either talking to the viewers like we’re 8 year old little leaguers and he’s the coach, explaining the most basic baseball logic like everyone’s dumb, making an unfunny joke centered around “I’m a dad now so I don’t know hip stuff, but I’m gonna say it and the parents will maybe laugh,” or just predicting what every pitch will be/just saying that the pitcher or batter should do “x” instead.
Like he’s just not good. Raymond is fine but paired with bacsik they’re just two unfunny dads who hang onto jokes for far too long. Rangers need new announcers

1972 through 1995, 23 seasons, 0 playoffs. Fans back then were rooting for .500 seasons.

I very much doubt that TX is going to go 20 seasons without a playoff appearance. Especially because there are 3 times more playoff spots now, a number that is likely to grow over the next 20 years and teams that are barely .500 are getting in.

My thought exactly, yea we could get rid of him but there’s no guarantee the next guy is better. They both annoy me at times but they also get me to laugh other times. This franchise has bigger problems to fix by next (hopefully) season.

I will take my chances. Eric Nadel is great. The TV guys get way too focused on non-game related stuff. We cant stand them.

We all know that there are PLENTY of fans in this fan base that need the general baseball knowledge he is trying to spread.
He is trying to make us a more educated fan base, and I will not fault him for that. Hopefully it phases out overtime.

This applies to most sports. The color commentator is there for the other 90% of the viewing audience who aren't hardcore invested in the ins and outs of the team nor highly educated in the lore of the franchise.

Yes, but his voice is particularly grating. I prefer to be condescended to by a rich baritone rather than a screeching thumb.

Yea, The talking to people like they are “little leaguers” is an exaggeration. He does do some of that but also gives some good insight to things I have never thought of. But I can see having other issues with him. I’m cool with him though. Just want the rangers to win more games whoever is announcing.

He’s grown on me, but I think Dave and CJ had a really good chemistry that these two don’t have. There are waaay worse announcers in the league

Ok Mike but when someone says he thinks my people are dirty, I have every right to find his soul dirty as well. :) If you’re white, cool that you can look past it, but pipe down when people directly affected by such actions cant ignore it as easily. And if you’re mexican…brother you got bigger problems than ignorance.

I appreciate you can acknowledge how it might affect other people differently. I agree people deserve second chances. And yes 2010 was 15 years ago. But at the same time I’ve never had the urge to call a group of people dirty. Especially in my thirties and on Twitter. So it’s probably not a stretch to believe Bacsik is a hateful person at least in my opinion. To give him a job in radio just a couple years after that comment and for people to brush it off today — just feels like a slap in the face.

That people are more complex than you give them credit for. That people contain multitudes. Don’t worry about it though. Framing everything and everyone as all good or all evil is easier for you to process.

There's a reason he was fired from the ticket. Racist tweets during a Mavs Spurs playoff series.
Of course, current Rangers ownership has a statue celebrating "One Ranger, One Riot" at the stadium so that's probably not a factor.

He came to talk to our club team when I was like 13, and he made me stay late to practice catching.
He literally confused me for our team’s actual catcher and made me drill every possible catcher drill because he thought I sucked. I was the second baseman…

Even if you can excuse his personal shortfalls, which is a choice, I cannot imagine finding his high pitched screeching tolerable.
He has one of the most unpleasant voices in all of sports, and is used for commentary best described as the result of traumatic brain injury.

You're completely right except for the part where you said he seems like a great guy. He was fired from the Ticket for a racist rant and he advocated several times for throwing at batters' heads.

Yeah he needs to go, Dave does all the heavy lifting. Mike just needs to start his own podcast so he can hear himself talk. Plus his voice is not a broadcasting voice

Man, I’ve been over him since he used to preach his religion on 105.3 and in the next sentence call people idiots and start screaming like an angry lunatic on air… you know, the awesome steward of the religion. Just keep how religious you are out of the conversation and call people idiots and I have no problem with it.

One of my biggest pet peeves during a broadcast is when they are talking about something that really has nothing to do with the game...something important happens during the game and they just keep talking. You're #1 job is to call the game. I don't really care about your story, I do care that we just scored 2 runs, or whatever.
He did it once during a homerun....stfu and let dave do his thing.

Never understood the hate the RSN team gets , they all seem like genuine fans of the team and the game before any of that broadcasting stuff which I appreciate
Also if you ever get to meet or speak to them in person they are all super nice. Got to say hello to Laura and Jared before a game in Baltimore and they’re all pretty cool

I was shocked the Rangers hired the guy who left the ticket in disgrace 20 years ago for racist comments but I guess that’s what was available.
I honestly think Bascik has gotten better over time but the most unforgivable thing he does is that he is a fucking jinx machine and can’t stop.
The moment they get a guy on or a pitcher gets a couple outs he says “okay, just hit a two run homer here” or “he’s just gonna get this last guy out and we’ll win the game” or “this guy hasn’t had a hit three games, Rangers should get the out and get out of the inning here” and every fucking time the opposite happens.
It makes me furious when he does it. We’ll have some good opportunity in a leverage spot and he just jinxes it every time where I 100% know the team won’t come trough in the spot once he says it.

Mike is fine. We need to not have the injuries and the slumps. He’s a goofball and yes, I’d perhaps appreciate more mature analysis, I also don’t like everything to be so damn serious.

Why is this a point of emphasis in a season where we underachieved and should've won 89 games and the division?! I'm more concerned with the manager who seems overwhelmed, the bullpen management, and the lack of thunder in the lineup. But hey.....you do you.

Bacsik is ok. As is David Murphy. And Dave Raymond is a keeper; I liked him calling Astros games before he moved to the Rangers.
