No maybe we won’t.

Well it’s over excuse me while I lay here for the next few months no playoffs for us 💔

May the Astros stink it up in the wildcard and not find their usual voodoo magic

10

u/TaintSlaps 7d ago

Gonna be a long offseason with the inevitable labor strike coming up.

u/smoke_inyoureyes A. Beltre 7d ago

Remember today that the Rangers went 6-7 vs the As. 5-8 vs the Angels this year. Got destroyed by Houston for the boot, not even really a contest.

Oh yeah and 1-5 vs the fucking Twins this year.

Every single game matters. Congrats to the Astros for being kings of shit mountain, we all know how desperately we wanted it to be us instead.

On top of that, guess who we play opening day (if it actually happens).

Haha. Just gotta laugh it off bc nothing really matters

This team has not looked like a playoff caliber team at any point in this season, so I'm not really sad it's ended like this. Still, wish we could have stopped Houston from taking a spot.

Anyway, the team is probably going to look a lot different next season, which I'm fine with. See y'all then.

17

u/Mundane_Leopard_3974 7d ago

The only team that should have been disappointed are Mainers.. they have alstars who collectively sucked and should have run away with this division… Astros have no pitching what so ever outside of Hunter brown.. they are 25th in pitching … seems like every pitcher including bullpen took the year off for mariners, cal Raleigh had an unexplainable bad year and Jrod and naylor also had a bad year.. Astros or rangers should never have been in this division fight…

u/CHolland8776 7d ago

There won’t be a next season for a year or so.

True. You want to make a bet on if it will happen or not? I’ll pay $100 to the charity of your choice if there isn’t a lockout or late start to the season. You in?

4

u/rumdrums Michael Nolan Will Ryan Clark Young 7d ago

There's a big difference between a delayed start and no season. I actually believe both sides love money too much to let the whole year blow by with no baseball.

0

u/CHolland8776 7d ago

I believe both sides love money so much that the players won’t accept a salary cap and the owners will never sign a CBA again without one and at least a whole year is going to be lost. We’ll see.

2

u/MavsTurnedBucksGuy 7d ago

lol oh my sweet summer child. However much you hope or think this team will change, I assure you it will be much less than that

1

u/CHolland8776 7d ago edited 7d ago

I don’t think you are considering how vastly different all of MLB is going to look after an extended lockout and missing at least most, probably all, of 2027.

Not exactly sure what you're going on about, but the team will definitely try to trade off big contracts in the offseason, so for better or worse the team will almost certainly look quite different.

0

u/MavsTurnedBucksGuy 7d ago

Been hearing that for 2 trade deadlines and 2 off seasons. Pardon me if I’m not holding my breath.

0

u/rumdrums Michael Nolan Will Ryan Clark Young 7d ago

Nobody said in previous years that deGrom, Eovaldi, Seager, etc, were likely to be gone next year.

That's what we're looking at now. Which tbh really sucks but is what they need to do.

This game encapsulated the Rangers season very well. They were never truly out, but they were never in it.

Corey Seager’s homer right there perfectly encapsulates the end of the season for us. Too little, too late.

Well, it least it’s over. Truth be told, we didn’t deserve it, and we all pretty much knew that.

To start this week, a lot of us estimated that we would need to go at least 4-2 to get to the playoffs, and we ended up doing the complete opposite. We lose 2 series to already eliminated teams and couldn’t even put together consecutive wins the whole entire week. That’s just not going to get it done.

3

And basketball season follows right afterwards. Let's go Mavs!

4

u/WillH699 Rangers 7d ago

wait, are we still allow to support the Mavs after the whole Luka trade disaster.

11

u/Bazz27 A. García 7d ago

Thank god this season’s finally over. Love this team but this iteration was exhausting to watch.

I don’t know how you fix it long term. Rocker and Leiter have to develop. Hopefully Walcott becomes who we hope he can be. Maybe a healthy year of Seager and Jung.

6

u/bmcthomas 7d ago

They desperately need someone with personality. There have been many years of mediocre Rangers baseball but at least it was fun to watch. This team is, collectively, a jar of mayonnaise.

17

u/harralexa1993 7d ago

I really hope during offseason talk there aren’t fans who try to use the team missing the playoffs by two games as justification for being closer than they actually are. They need to rebuild. I know people are terrified of being really bad again but ask yourself what has this group of players proven to be. They need to move into the next era. If CY isn’t willing to rebuild he needs to be fired.

5

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

The funny thing is that even in our bad years, we weren't bad enough to take advantage of being bad and get great draft picks from it.

3

u/lawdjesustheresafire C. Seager 7d ago

Still have nightmares that our first high draft pick in years was used on a reliever who had a 5+ ERA in the minors and was traded less than a year later for 2 months of a 56yo Carlos Beltran

2

u/Definitely-Not-Devin J. Gallo 6d ago

Hurts worse to see Tate was taken ahead of Kyle Tucker, Ian Happ, Josh Naylor, and Walker Buehler.

3

u/bummer28 A. Beltre 7d ago

I agree changes need to be made, but I don’t think a full blow it up rebuild is fully needed a soft rebuild could work where we are competitive again in 3-4 years.

Our farm system isn’t as bad and everything says it is, it’s just all our good talent is in the lower levels, so giving those guys a few years to develop while adding some more via trades we could be back quicker.

But this team as it is is dead.

1

u/nocensts E. Carter 7d ago

Maybe but I'm pretty sure Degrom has a no-trade and he's the biggest salary. So you can get some money off but your still having a huge name pitcher. I'm not sure if Seager and Evo have no-no trades.

1

u/EfficientDot18 7d ago

Eovaldi has no trade and Seager's 10-5 has kicked in which means he has a no trade clause now.

2

u/nocensts E. Carter 7d ago

Right so these "sell it all" posts are kind of inane. We're building around these guys unless they want to leave and frankly that's fine IMO.

1

u/EfficientDot18 7d ago

The only way this team can rebuild is if they trade Josh Jung who is a few years away from free agency. I am fairly certain people would be pretty pissed if that happened.

The best bet to rebuild was by trading someone like Joc Pederson at the deadline, who knows if he is back since he has a mutual option, and only one of them has to say no.

2

u/SVJ9500 6d ago

I've been saying this for the past 2 years but got alot of dislikes. Glad people are realizing it now, hope the GM is too.

17

u/IndieFlea ADRIAN BELTRE 4 PRESIDENT!!! 7d ago

Not sure what the value of basically doing a bullpen today to use basically all your pitchers except Evo...and you decide use Silseth and Junis....

This team could've been so much more...Will def be an interesting offseason to go through it off but I look forward to eventually seeing Sebastian Walcott take over this team

3

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Fuck, let him player manage for all I care

7

u/Ok_Context_8200 7d ago

A while back I figured the best ending for the season is whichever one actually causes some changes to be made. Hopefully this is that ending

5

u/Blue_Phoenix512 7d ago

Nothing is gonna happen. They kept the wrong hitting coach and with no money to work with, they are going to keep the same core.

1

u/Ok_Context_8200 7d ago

Yeah that is most likely. Can make the same comments now in 26' as we did in 25' and 24'. Haven't even had a winning record in a while now. Maybe THIS season is the one to break the camels back

1

u/CHolland8776 7d ago

Doubt. Things are going to look very different after an extended lockout, a new CBA and missing most, probably all, of 2027.

6

u/Electric1800 7d ago

oh and let’s go white sox…

8

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Thank god Skip is admitting he's bad with the bullpen on the post game radio show. I was scared he didn't know he was bad at it.

6

u/beefytrout A. Beltre 7d ago

I am fully convinced he is a sleeper agent from St. Louis

1

u/neatgeek83 7d ago

Oof you punished yourself to listen to that?

2

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

The final post game show? I listen to most of them so if course I'd finish the season out

7

u/WillH699 Rangers 7d ago

season's over, no playoffs, time for the real fun to begin to see who loses their jobs in the coming days or weeks or months as the rebuild starts over again, it's clear. some people in the managing/coaching staff needs to be fired this off season and we need to start trading older players and signing new younger players too.

3

u/sloyoroll 7d ago

Nothing will change. Checks are still cashing.

2

u/whatisdeletrazdoing_ 6d ago

Chris Young gets promoted and a raise

13

u/TwilightFanFiction 7d ago

Seems impossible to me that we were worse than last season, but the record speaks for itself

5

u/DecentRule8534 7d ago

Pitching was significantly worse than last season. Fielding was significantly worse than last year. Offense, somehow, managed to be worse than last year. Honestly, I don't even know how we only finished 1 game worse than 2025.

14

u/TexasPillowman A. García 7d ago

I’m blaming this season on the statue. I’ll happily break in and remove it, who’s with me?

7

u/DrDrankenstein D. DeShields 7d ago

I cant believe it doesn't get vandalized every home game. But everytime I go, there it is, just standing there. Looking like shit.

2

u/WhatsupDoc35 7d ago

I chose not to attend any games this season for that reason. I have a winning record for games I attend. Therefore, it is Ray Davis’ fault this team failed.

1

u/beefytrout A. Beltre 6d ago

u/neatgeek83 7d ago

We are in sell-the-team territory here.

Rot goes deeper than CY and Skip.

Ray built us a new stadium and opened up his wallet enough for us to get lucky (eww) in 2023.

Otherwise, in the 16 years he's owned the team: 1,257–1,223 / .507 WP. Definition of mediocre.

Fund this team like a top-5 market or GTFO.

Would love to know what the succession plan is. He's 84.

8

u/finsup_FTJ Alfonso Soriano 7d ago

We’ll always have 2023. And there’s no asterisk next to ours. Fuck the stupid asstros

0

u/Mammoth_Ad_8490 7d ago

No astericks next to 2022 though

2

u/finsup_FTJ Alfonso Soriano 7d ago

Probably even that one, too. *

0

u/Mammoth_Ad_8490 6d ago

Baseless accusations huh i suspect you cheated on 23 then lol

11

u/IJustCantHelpYou PEAGLE 7d ago

CY has some work to do. Hopefully Ray Davis opens his wallet on the other side of the CBA.

18

u/Jlibs_21 Nathan Eovaldi 7d ago

CY is the problem

1

u/donsanedrin 7d ago

CY has pretty much used up all of the chips and cap space that was built up when Jon Daniels handed him the reins during 2020-2022.

We are going to enter another period similar to 2017-2021, but I don't know if CY is able to rebuild the farm and clean up the payroll the same way JD did.

4

u/The_Zhuster 7d ago

I’m fine with blowing it all up instead of doubling down on an overpaid retirement home.

Besides, do you think any bona fide impact player wants to play on a purgatory roster when they get offers from more surefire contenders?

0

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

The only surefire contender right now is Los Angeles and they're about to get neutered by the lockout and the changes to get out of it. We're still a more attractive destination than half of the majors, team wise and tax wise.

-4

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

If he hasn't relieved Skip of manager duty by the world series, none of it matters

9

u/Suspicious_Spite7346 PEAGLE 7d ago

Imo CY needs to be fired WAY more than Skip does. Really, though, team needs new ownership. I'd be stunned if Ray opens his wallet anytime in the near future

0

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

I'm fine with losing CY as long as Skip goes first. If we lose CY but somehow still have Skip, it will be one of the oddest things I've seen from this team since my first game in 1979.

1

u/cml0401 7d ago

Why is Skip the problem?

6

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

He's the reason we didn't wrap up the division a week ago. He can't manage a bullpen and doesn't let someone else do it for him.

16

u/Acreativeusername69 7d ago edited 7d ago

Whole entire organization needs a major revamp from the top down. 3 years of putrid mediocrity is more than enough proof that this team doesn’t work.

one winning season, one playoff appearance, no division titles in the last 10 years...

7

u/Acct_SLC J. Leiter 7d ago

And one championship. You would take that 100/100 as a fan. Sucks we didn’t win today but let’s not act like the last 10 years have been a complete disappointment . There are franchises that have had it much worse than us.

5

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

It's still crazy there isn't a division banner up there with the world series banner. Lol.

1

u/TexManZero 7d ago

If I'm not mistaken, ALCS and WS years don't get a separate banner since they mean more than a division title.

1

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Well obviously if you can only have one, you take the World Series, but I'd like a division banner up there taking up space until we can kick it out

2

u/MohnJilton 7d ago

I can accept those 10 years for obvious reasons. But I hope we get more from the next 10. Obviously.

Ya know I didn’t really say much there

3

u/Smeagol224 7d ago

At least we got to watch some meaningful baseball in September. Now we can all just hope there is a season in 2027.

3

u/SAIL3RZ_ J. Hamilton 7d ago

Well it’s been a fun season, they fought till the end.

Kinda softens it knowing the Astros ended up with it regardless of a win but would have been nice to have given it our best.

Lot of good things to build off of for next season, hopefully they can straighten up.

what is there even to say. an old roster, a narcissist gm, a media that is completely apathetic to the team’s existence. this really is sports hell. and i can’t even say “good year”, because basically it was no year. one game away from 81-81. absolute mediocrity. i hope next year can go better but this organization and culture are just fucked. 2023 seems like such a distant memory. oh well

4

u/MrEluusiVe J. deGrom 7d ago

A season of questionable calls. Questionable plays. Questionable pitching. HIGHLY questionable offense, injuries left and right, but holy shit what a rollercoaster. Future is bright. Don’t care what anyone says im excited for Gore, Leiter, Rocker down the road. Walcott coming up is going to be a fire starter. Latz as a full season closer next?!?

See you next year!

2

u/KingStraton 7d ago

Rebuild time?

3

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Nobody wanted our players at the deadline so why take them now?

1

u/KingStraton 7d ago

Good point, but maybe we trade who we can, get flippable 1 year rentals and prioritize winning in 2029 if this core can’t stay healthy and be consistent

2

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

I still don't understand deGrom turning down the Braves for a playoff run and a chance at a career championship.

1

u/KingStraton 7d ago

Yep. Didn’t want to break Mats fans hearts by going to a rival maybe

2

u/Akerfell J. Jung 7d ago

Could have at least tried to save face by winning a game vs the garbage Twins who have nothing to play for. Ya know, finish .500? It would have lessened the blow slightly. Then you have the Astros who absolutely understood the assignment today. Ugh, see ya'll next year.

Feel like I should go for the Braves given they swept Houston and gave us a real shot at playoffs. At this point anyone but Dodgers, Astros, Yankees.

2

u/Mindfulmanners Rangers 7d ago

I have a buddy who is from Tampa so I like this idea.

1

u/Useless-113 Rangers 7d ago

I’m here for it.

1

u/YaKnowEstacado I. Kinsler 6d ago

This is what I want

2

u/beefytrout A. Beltre 7d ago

any of the teams that have never won one

2

u/Basic_Pay_6115 7d ago

i actually think it would be really funny if the astros with their record win it all

3

u/WhatsupDoc35 7d ago

The offset is, I might die

1

u/EfficientDot18 7d ago

Guardians and Rays would be my top 2.

2

u/seamus_mcfly86 7d ago

No funeral.

1

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Just wet wet mud

2

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Oh geez. I just noticed that Los Angeles got to 100 wins and Anaheim got to 100 losses. Today has been very eventful.

2

u/tsx_1430 7d ago

Need new ownership till I jump back on the train.

2

u/BeeComposite M. Napoli 7d ago

Well, need to occupy some of the newly found free time.

Recommend movies and tv series that are hidden gems.

1

u/beefytrout A. Beltre 6d ago

The West Wing

4

u/kbsick W. Langford 7d ago

Glad this fucker got the L

1

u/rumdrums Michael Nolan Will Ryan Clark Young 7d ago

Fuckin A. Game was over the moment he came in.

5

u/ChaseTx THE SOLUTION 7d ago

Need a center fielder and a new pitching staff

2

u/Witteness82 I. Kinsler 7d ago

Need a new GM first and foremost

-3

u/cml0401 7d ago

Poor take. CY has been heavily handcuffed by the Bally deal falling through and taking away significant revenue. In addition Davis has done nothing to help fill holes by penny pinching after the world series.

3

u/Jlibs_21 Nathan Eovaldi 7d ago

There’s front offices that do a lot more with even less capital than he has. Stop carrying water for a guy who has proven for 3+ years that he’s awful at his job

3

u/esplonky 7d ago

Good luck to whoever's IL Corey Seager ends up on next year

6

u/rumdrums Michael Nolan Will Ryan Clark Young 7d ago

Love him, but I'm ready for him to be gone.

1

u/SteelSecutor 7d ago

The problem is all the contracts these guys have. How do you offload Seager? Degrom? Evo? Or any of our longtime vets with all this locked down money? We have to take a bath to do it. Joc is just about the only major vet we can offload.

2

u/Terrible-Device-111 7d ago

At least the Astros will be a first round exit

-1

u/Blue_Phoenix512 7d ago

They will stumble their way to another World Series. They have that voodoo magic

→ More replies (2)

4

u/thrash_truck 7d ago

Really traded 5 players for a shit pitcher. Fire this GM fr

3

u/Rangers_Doomer 7d ago

All I can do is pray there’s no season next year. This team has killed my joy for baseball. A year break should do the trick.

1

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Having done this before, maybe we'll get a weird short season with everyone out of playing shape like we got during the covid short season.

2

u/BeeComposite M. Napoli 7d ago

We’re going to the World Series… next season!

2

u/rgg40 7d ago

A fitting end to the season. This is an organization heading down.

2

u/Choirman7272 7d ago

The Astros have now won the American League West eight of the last ten years. Rangers have won it exactly zero of the last ten years. Does anyone out there besides me get angry about this?

4

u/EfficientDot18 7d ago

We have an even amount of legitimate World Series titles

3

u/4everMyBoots 7d ago

Best thing to do is just keep remembering this:👍😉

2

u/TheTangoFox 7d ago

Happy strike shortened next season everyone.

It's the mental health break we need.

2

u/karsywarsy19 7d ago

Well see yall next year (if it happens)

2

u/azwethinkweizm Long live BBTiA 7d ago

See yall in 2028? I hope the players and owners can come to an agreement but I'm not too optimistic.

1

u/dickey1331 A. Beltre 7d ago

I would say see yall in 2027 but it might be 2028.

1

u/The_Zhuster 7d ago

Turns out if you pretended that the Rangers didn’t get no-hit by the Astros on their own home field and that they won the game instead, they’d still finish behind by way of tiebreaker.

1

u/gvega135 PEAGLE 7d ago

Honest question as I couldn’t watch the game but why did Gore only pitch 2 innings?

3

u/alongbanana 7d ago

Skill Issue mostly.

3

u/skyfly89 Corey Seager 7d ago

Because he’s terrible and they didn’t want him to see the lineup a second time

1

u/Malisyn Malisyn 7d ago

C'est la vie. Or, it be like that.

1

u/opelui22 7d ago

Just like with the Cowboys when you need to get it done this team found a way to blow it. But then that's what you get when you have a mediocre team. You don't get to be in the post season.

1

u/Upbeat-Natural-7120 6d ago

Well, I hate to say it, but this is exactly what I expected to happen. This team literally has zero fight when it matters.

1

u/uprising3k 5d ago

Ignoring the records of the Astros and Rangers, that was a fun closure to the season. Nail biter till the very last game of the season. Gotta love that extra drama.

1

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Oh shit, another post-game thread

4

u/TaintSlaps 7d ago

The last one until 2028, probably.

2

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

We need to agree to meet up next year anyway like we're signing a yearbook

1

u/Alternative_Dot_9640 7d ago

Wish I could say see yall next year but lockout probably going to keep that from happening

1

u/Electric1800 7d ago

this team was just really fking boring… rest in piss to the 2026 rangers .. here’s to hoping contract negotiations get figured out and we have a season next year…

0

u/thrash_truck 7d ago

Hol up, still got my Red Raiders 😈

2

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Baseball and softball will be here before you know it

Weird behavior

1

u/problemshandling 7d ago

Bro - fellow Astros fan here but considering our record, which was virtually identical to the other team you're currently trolling, there's absolutely nothing to talk trash about here (or anywhere else). Our entire division was an abomination this year but by rule, someone had to win it. This is not a good look.

u/Ok_Sheepherder_9828 7d ago

I just tip my hat and call [literally every team] my daddy.

u/Top-Opportunity1280 7d ago

Adios Mofo

0

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 7d ago

Who's the mofo?

1

u/Top-Opportunity1280 7d ago

It’s a quote from a lame ass former Governor Rick Perry. They used to play it on The Ticket radio station in Dallas.
