Current status of TERA (Console and PC Private Servers!)

(This is a repost of the previous thread that's been updated for the past couple years - with the year removed to minimize confusion.)

Welcome to r/TeraOnline!

This thread is an FAQ to explain the current status of The Exiled Realm of Arborea (TERA) and how you can currently play the game.

1. What happened with official PC Servers for NA/EU?

  • Official PC servers through NA/EU publishers officially shut down in 2022. All characters from those servers are gone forever.

2. What is the status of console servers?

Tera Console Discord https://discord.gg/vB83wnaykm

3. Can I still play PC TERA on private servers??

  • Yes, and here are links to the current private servers.
Server Patch Invite Link Servers hosted
TERA Starscape Patch 100.02 64bit https://discord.com/invite/XJZD4GCv62 West Coast US
Arborea Reborn Patch 100.02 (modified) https://discord.gg/czMKUzSYsw Strasbourg, France
Old School Tera Online (OSTO) Patch 31.04 https://discord.gg/hr2rZXB3He Virginia, USA
Evervyn Patch 100.02 https://discord.gg/cTW4eCpUsz West Coast, US

Pro-tip: If you plan on playing a PC private server, use a completely different e-mail and password than you usual. Playing TERA is fun, but you never really know who runs these servers, so keep your information protected!!

To have your active private server information added to the list, send a message with the information to the moderator team here.

Additionally, here is a link to our previous Private Server thread, with additional comments and information about the private servers and player's impressions.

General To KRAFTON, and my wishes to their new projects as we all get stabbed in the back.

Dear KRAFTON,

I don't know if anyone at KRAFTON will ever read this. Maybe you won't care. Maybe it'll have the same importance they're proving right now their community has.

But I need to say it anyway.

We miss TERA.

We miss logging in. We miss the combat that felt unlike anything else. We miss our characters, our guilds, our friends, our routines. We miss spending hours in a world that, for some of us, became far more important than a video game has any right to be.

And for some people, TERA wasn't just another MMO, it was the game they came home to.

It was the game that helped them through lonely nights. The game they played when they didn't know what else to do. The game where they met people who became friends, sometimes friends they never would have met anywhere else.

Then TERA was taken away.

And what hurts isn't only that you closed the official servers.

People who couldn't let go tried to keep TERA alive. Private servers appeared because people still cared. They weren't doing it for money or competition. They were doing it because they couldn't accept that something they loved was simply gone.

And instead of looking at that and seeing our love behind, you sent cease and desist letters.

Legally, you have every right to do that.

But there is a difference between having the right to do something and being human enough to not stab your community, while you're gonna try to come back later crying for us to trust you again.

Because when you shut down those servers, you're not just shutting down software.

You're telling people who still love TERA:

"You can't have this anymore."

And then you don't give them anything to replace it.

That's the part I don't understand.

If you don't want private servers preserving the game, then what are people supposed to do with all the love they still have for it? Where are they supposed to go? What are they supposed to play when TERA was the game that gave them something no other MMO could?

We're asking you to understand why people are still here.

Because we miss you.

That's what makes this so heartbreaking.

The people running private servers aren't the only ones keeping TERA alive.

The players are, the memories are, the friendships are.

The people who still talk about their characters years later.

The people who hear the music and immediately remember where they were, who they played with, and how it felt to be in that world.

WE ARE WHAT'S LEFT

And every time another way of experiencing TERA disappears, it feels like another piece of that community being taken away.

You may see intellectual property.

We see home.

You may see unauthorized servers.

We see the last place where we could still play the game we loved.

And perhaps the most painful part is that you have shown us that you know how much people care, but you don't.

You know there are still people waiting.

You know people want TERA back.

You know there is still affection for this game.

And yet there is nothing for us.

No way back home.

No alternative.

Just silence, followed by another shutdown.

I want to see you understand that the people you're shutting down aren't your enemies. Many of them are some of the game's most devoted fans.

They kept playing when everyone else forgot.

They kept your game alive in their own way because you weren't giving them anywhere else to go.

And if TERA 2 ever comes, I hope KRAFTON remembers this moment.

I HOPE TERA2 BACKFIRES. I HOPE IT LEAVES YOU A HOLE IN THE HEART, LIKE YOU LEFT ONE ON OURS.

Because you can't spend years teaching your fans that their attachment to your games doesn't matter and then expect them to feel the same way when you ask them to fall in love with something new.

Making a sequel is a promise that the people who loved the first one mattered.

And right now, a lot of us don't feel like we mattered.

We don't want to steal TERA from you, we want you to give it back to us.

Give us a way to play.

Give us a reason to believe that the people who spent years loving this world weren't forgotten the moment the servers went offline.

We are still here.

You have fans who are begging for something you already created.

Something you already own.

And instead of letting them have it, you're pushing everyone away.

I hope you understand someday what you're breaking.

Not servers.

Fans, communities, trust, people's memories.

And if TERA 2 ever comes, I hope you remember that the people you're asking to buy it are the same people who once begged you not to take TERA away.

After everything, you've made it very hard for us to believe that you care about the people who gave TERA its life in the first place.

We don't need you to understand the business case.

We need you to understand the heartbreak.

We just miss our game.

That's all we've ever wanted.

We're angry because we loved TERA enough to still be here.

Show us the same love we showed you, after all these years, so we don't have to show you the hate and disregard you've shown us all these years too.

Regards,

An OG who still didn't move on. Who still misses his little piece of home, TERA.

NA Classic and EU Classic+ 9/11 C&D letters

Both servers announced they have received Cease & Desist letters. Looks like Krafton keeps on going after private servers. Both Discords have big communities and its a shame they will be shut down. Is there any Discord around just to chat with others and is unlikely to be deleted? Doesnt have to be yet another private server

General Was Bluehole working on a new expansion before Krafton shut them down?

I have this vivid memory of watching some kind of presentation that the TERA team was doing about their plans for future content, which included some kind of system that would allow players to mix different skills together... kind of like how Apex made it for Sorcerers. I recall them showing something for Archer.

Does anyone else remember this? or am I just hallucinating?

Console How to get costume for "Festive Embroidered Tunic" armor set?

Supposedly you can get "Fashion Coupons" to use to pay for older armor pieces as costumes. But I have no idea where the Fashion Coupon store is to even buy stuff like that. And the trade broker doesn't list any results for "Festive" items. I think that blue armor looks pretty good on my Popori and I want to be able to keep it, with the nice four leaf clover design and blue shoes.

Console Do I Need a Three Stack?

My brother, friends, and I used to play this game a ton back in the day. My brother and I recently came back to screw around on it and level some character but we sat in queue for low level dungeons for like an hour before giving up. He was playing tank and I a healer.

Do we need to have a three stack of players to enjoy the leveling content these days?

PC How do you guys actually check if a TERA private server launcher is safe?

Back on Windows XP on a WoW Private Server, when I was but a squirt, I didn't care what I ran, but now I'm a bit more cautious. Since custom launchers can auto-update and run whatever code the devs push (or sneaky villans that get access to the launcher), how do you decide that it is safe to play or not?

  1. Malicious Software: Custom clients and launchers from unknown sources can easily pack random nonsense.

  2. Data Breaches: Server backends get compromised all the time, exposing emails, usernames, and passwords.

  3. Lack of Support & Sudden Shutdowns: If a server gets hacked, abruptly shut down, or wiped overnight, you have zero recourse and all progress is gone. How do you judge if a server is trustworthy and stable enough to actually sink time into?

PC Tera Classic + (Huge failure)

I cannot believe how there can be such incompetent developers. Ok, I understand you are a small team, but guys you got 100k+ views on your trailer, your discord jumped to 18k users before release, did you really expect to get 1k players? Some big streamers even joined, some who have never heard about Tera - and what did they get, constant crashes, 8-10 hours of streaming with no content.

Let’s put that aside, you cannot even communicate properly or take decisions. For 3 days now there are thousand of people staying at home, spamming enter server button and getting excited when they get to play for 5minutes before the server crashes again. Wasting people's time like that is just humiliating. You are playing with people's mental health (I know it sounds harsh, but I see the same people online in discord 24/7 spamming ''I'm in"")

Many people including me suggested -> CLOSE THE SERVER IMMEDIATLY, find the root cause, find a solution. Right now the announcements you publish are all the same - we are aware of the issue, we think we found a solution, we are tired.

I even spoke to some community managers suggesting them the idea and the answer I got? - We need the thousands of people to try logging in and play so we can test. ????

I love private servers, I love the people putting effort, I'm buying VIPs/tera clubs just to support them, but Tera Classic + is a huge waste of time.

I felt nostalgic the last few months, and with not being able to try this new classic server, I went back to Tera Asura where I used to have an account. And I can tell you, it's 100 times better. 200-300 active players daily, new custom dungeons, even saw some pvp players.

Update on server popularity

Is there any more recent measure of which servers are the most popular? Tera Classic NA re-released and had ~500 players at relaunch, but now is dwindling in popularity (~200-250 average during peak according to Discord, ~<100-150 off peak). I played Starscape over a year ago which was popular then, but with Asura, Tera Classic+ EU, OSTO becoming more popular, is there an average pop size / recommended server for each region and era?

Quick Question - Leveling 60-65

Just wanted to ask what the fastest method of leveling to 65 is? I can't find any current guides and the leveling seemed to just hit a wall once I hit level 60.

Quick question read body please 🙏

New player here. I just realized that I haven't been collecting any of my free battle pass rewards since level 2 and I am now level 44. Missed out on a bunch of free high training books, enchantment powder, legendary crates, flourite niveot stone and some Leins root beer. Did I really lose much of anything valuable? And can I earn those things back or farm them later in game?

TERA Classic Europe relaunches as TERA Classic+ on August 21.

I’ve been part of TERA Classic Europe and its community for a year now. It’s honestly been a solid private server, with a passionate player base that shapes the direction of the server.

On August 21, 2026, it relaunches as TERA Classic+, a custom rebuild based on patch v100.02, shaped by community votes, feedback, and selected features from across TERA’s history.

The goal was to keep v100’s improved client performance while removing post Awakening skills, bloat features and restoring older v31 skills and content.

Our community made this showcase trailer for you. If you have any questions, or would like to know more join us on discord.

PC I'll be happy to pay a subscription fee for TERA 2 if it means we get a great game

Hey everyone

I've been a TERA enjoyer since 2015 and my heart broke when the official PC servers shut down in 2022. I then discovered private servers and have been playing on and off for a little over a year now.

With the announcement that a development team is being assembled for TERA 2 I can't help but feel hopeful that we'll get to enjoy an official TERA game on PC once more.

So much so that I am willing to pay a monthly fee if it results in the game being properly developed, taken care of, we get good communication between the dev team and the players and so on.

I think that free-to-play Mmorpg models are inherently flawed, because the developers have to resort to pay to progress cash shop items, creating a "Pay 2 Win" cycle that never ends, eventually pushing the players away from the game and the game dying as a result of that.

I would rather see a pay-to-play model be used for the rebirth of our favourite game, highly increasing the chances of it being a much more cared for product and hopefully creating a long lasting game that has a powerful impact on the Mmorpg community.

That's all I wanted to get off my chest, thank you for taking a few minutes and reading it.

Server recommendation for newbie. Eu preffered

I've never played TERA before, but I've been wanting to give it a shot. The whole pre-Apex vs. post-Apex discussion is honestly a bit overwhelming for a complete newbie.

Which server would you recommend for someone just starting out? I'm based in the EU, but I'm totally fine playing on an NA server too if it's the better experience.

I'd love to hear your suggestions. Thanks!

General No MMO battle makes fun anymore since Tera

I started playing Tera when it was in beta and I loved that they started with an P2P system. I had so much fun with the battle system and PvE. Since the game took an downturn (F2P/P2W) I'm searching for alternatives and tried every EU released MMO. But since none have a cool battle system and PvE I didn't get hooked and I haven't played an MMO since then.

Anyone knows an announced MMO which has similar PvE and battle system I may have missed?

General It bothers me that Tera Console was kept alive but not Tera PC

I'm not a console player, I never owned one, and I was never good at controllers anyways. Why did they keep console up and running while also giving it live updates and content? I mean, their official reddit account is actively posting game update info in this subreddit. Why did they abandon the PC version? Why not keep the PC one up in maintenance mode, keeping it at the last released patch and just letting the players enjoy the world? Why the shutdown of only one platform?
