question Hyper specific question, I feel like I'm going insane

On the steam frame, I found a setting that allows me to boot into desktop upon start-up. I, for the life of me after having enabled it cannot find it again and I want to disable it. As far as I remember, it was in system settings.

Does anyone know anything about this and can potentially explain as to why it won't allow me to change this feature?

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

EDIT: I ended up just factory resetting it and when I went into system settings, there the boot option was. I was in fact, not crazy.

Thank you to everyone who commented

Open steam in desktop mode, it'll look like the normal storepage. Click the steam tab (the very top of the page) and it'll drop down a menu. Hit settings, interface, and you'll see it

Try this: Open the terminal and type:

steamos-session-select gamescope

It is a bug in the stable. The option disappear once activated and sometimes then keyboard stops typing in the VR disallowing you from reconnecting to a wifi.

Factory reset requires internet.

I rawdogged it making a passwordless access point and connecting to it to update to beta.

Wouldn't you have already connected to WiFi before you changed that setting since I assume it makes you do that at startup?

My issue was that for whatev reason, after that setting was enabled the keyboard stopped typing anywhere and wifi asked again for password, and I could not type it in. I did not have a working Bluetooth keyboard/USBC adapter for a wired keyboard. Now I have it.

Why do you need a USB C adapter? Can't you just plug it into the dock?

I could actually have used the steam deck dock. Good lateral thinking.

I don't get how telling it to boot into desktop mode first causes it to lose all of its saved Wi-Fi connections.

That setting.

To always boot in desktop mode.

Was bugged in stable.

Activating it, made it disappear from the settings menu leaving you stuck.

Without any working type input, I could not use the command 'steamos-session-select'

All you had to do was switch the update channel to preview/main and the option would appear again

If it didnt appear switch back to Gamemode and go into the settings. Go down to the developer tab. Enable developer mode, enable "show advanced update channels", go to system the tab, and switch it to Preview. Apply the update, restart, and the option should show up. If it doesnt, try switching it to Main.
