There may be more CRVs, but I don't think that means that "sale's numbers don't back up" that people want low cost options. Camry is like #4 overall.

it was 8th in 2025 and the only sedan in the top 10. More people bought Model Ys than Camrys last year, which are like the epitome of what this tweet is talking about.

That list only provides sales data for the first quarter of this year. That’s a little incomplete, that’s why I quoted 2025 figures. But even if we look at those Q1 sales and see the different makes and models, my argument was if you check the best-selling trim levels they are not typically the base models. People say they want barebones models but they don’t buy them at the same volume as higher trims with more stuff. Carmakers know human psychology gets people to upgrade to the higher trim if they make the price increase feel tolerable.
