Then stop buying new cars. That's it, it's that simple. If people didn't want them, they wouldn't spend money on them.

This exact point. People don’t vote with their wallets.

Who's even buying brand new cars? I literally don't know a single person who can afford that and yet there's tens of thousands brand new cars being made every single day around the globe.

Buddy youre missing the point. Its getting to the point where people have no choice but to buy the expensive car thats gonna die at 70k miles. Do you know how many older reliable cars are still on the roads? And do you know how many have over 200k miles? That makes them less desirable for the average buyer. Not to mention youre getting screwed on the used car end too. I just had to pay pasocally full price for a Honda Civic that came out in 2012 with almost 150k on it. It was 12 thousand dollars bro. On fb marketplace three years ago i coulda gotten it for 3k max. But times are different now and its okay that you cant see it yet. But you will. We all will eventually. I just hope it wont be too late by the time we do

A lot of loans won't allow you to buy a car over 5 years old.

I bought a high mileage Model 3 for under $8k with over 200k miles. Battery is in great shape and the operating costs are a fraction of ICE. Used EVs are where the saving are at if you can plug them in at home or work.

I am curious what's cost of batteries in the old tesla?

To have a 3rd party put in a used pack it's probably around $8k.

The LFP packs from 2021-2023 in the base models are super reliable and can theoretically last longer than the car.

Just checked the FB marketplace now. Literally shitloads of cheap used cars. You just gotta spend some time looking.

I didnt have a few thousand dollars lying around. I had to finance through a dealer. Most people dont even have a hundred dollars. I had enough for a down payment and even then i got lucky cause my grandmother out of the generosity of her heart gave me exactly enough to get my monthly payment down to a somewhat affordable place.

Thats on you bro, I bought a 2010 civic with 114k, full body kitted for 5k. Gotta shop around. Luckily my mechanic sold me mines directly

Ill admit i shouldve shopped around more. I unfrotunately didnt have the time to do that and i had never bought a car before so i got slapped with every imaginable fee you can think of cause i didnt know better. My point is these used car seller companies are taking advantage of poor people

Bro guess what happens when you stop buying new cars? There's less used cars and then used cars go up in price!

She could buy an EV with an engine that lasts 200-400k miles and batteries /electronics rated for 15 years, but she probably thinks that shit is "woke". Enjoy your quarterly oil changes and transmissions going to shit then, lady.
